The name implies ice cream - which they have... BUT being the cold and wet day it was in St. John's today I was in search of a hot beverage and sweet. Cafe latte in one hand and an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie in the other, I was prepared to face the cold winds coming in through the harbour. Not good. Unfortunately I have to be honest. I did not enjoy my latte. It was much like drinking a cup of hot milk. Maybe they only use 1 shot of espresso for medium lattes. I didn't ask.... and I also didn't finish drinking the latte. The cookie was 6/10. It was a large and very flat cookie. Not sure what the baking trick is to prevent your cookie batter from spreading out to far and neither do they. The cookie consistency was a crispy around the edge with a soft chewy center. I ate the whole thing. Maybe next time I will try their ice cream but for today I have to say there are other local coffee purveyors I will stick with while I'm here.

There is secure WiFi although it seemed to have difficulty reaching the deck. If you walked to Signal Hill you should stop at the Battery Cafe because you'll walk right past it and you deserve it. The Newfoundland sundae with jam and ice cream is worth ordering on a warm day.
