This is the latest wave of trending dessert! Overall was very delicious but felt like the strawberries could've been more fresh and would've tasted better in the cup if they were. There is an overwhelming amount of chocolate, pistachio and kunafa in the cup, which is good from a price standpoint but I think the ratio of strawberries to the filling could've been better to have more strawberries to balance out the sweetness and strength of the filling. read more

It's been several months since my last visit to Kanafa's, and I was thrilled to return and see some of their newer creations. It's my birthday and I decided that, rather than a cake, what I really wanted is a box of baklava. If you haven't already visited a Kanafa's location, this place offers joy and variety in every bite! Their signature middle eastern pastry, kanafa, is beautifully prepared and best served warm, so that you can enjoy the stretchy, nabulsi cheese based interior. Aside from kanafa, they offer a tempting array of baklavas and pastries, and it was this that I visited today. Since my absence, Kanafa's has added some newer, innovative choices to the baklava selection. In addition to the more typical walnut, pistachio or cashew baklava's, Kanafa's offers a Nutella baklava, and a Biscoff baklava. My daughter loves nutella, and we all love Biscoff (Lotus) cookies, so we picked up a few pieces of each to add to our box of 8 baklava. The portions are generous, and I usually cut them in half if I'm serving this as a finger-food type dessert. The price is right too: a box of 8 cost $21 - cheaper than a grocery store birthday cake! Kunafa's baklava are so generously filled with nutty stuffing, that I doubt you could buy that quantity of nuts alone for $21. Kanafa's is located in a strip mall opposite Costco in Ajax. Parking is rarely a problem in this spacious lot! Staff is friendly, helpful, and willing to make recommendations and suggestions for your order. For me, my box of Kanafa's baklava is as decadent and pleasurable as a birthday cake, with more variety in the box! read more

As an avid cheese enthusiast, I knew I had to come and try the famous Kunafa! This place was pretty busy when we stopped by, and many of the trays were half empty! Even so, they have a great selection of treats for you to try. Staff was quite friendly as well! For the Kunafa, I think they may have forgotten to add the sugar syrup on ours (we got the first piece of a fresh batch), so it mostly just tasted like wet flavourless cheese, which was super disappointing because I was so hyped for it. Definitely willing to give it another go sometime though! We ended up sampling some baklava as well, specifically their pistachio, nutella, and biscoff baklava. These were absolutely heaven. The light flaky texture along with the gooeyness of the sugar syrup is so good, and the flavours were to die for. Big fan of the baklava, not too sure about the kunafa but I'm optimistic that it was just because of the missing syrup. Otherwise, I'm glad that I stopped by! read more

Fairly big dessert store in Ajax. One long table is the only seating. Sheena and Shahed were very friendly and helpful. If you tell them a fact about Palestine you get a free mini dessert (I got pistachio and it was delicious!). We also got a bunch of other desserts and the Dubai chocolate. Everything we had was well proportioned, flavors were harmonious. Sometimes treats like these are overly doused in syrup but this was not the case for the desserts that we had. The Dubai chocolate wasn't overly sweet either. If you enjoy pistachio cream, you're going to love this chocolate as the pistachio flavor was the star. It's just fantastic. In my opinion, this item is even better than the famous walnut, cashew, and pistachio baklavas. The Turkish coffee is kind of okay. Good coffee crema on top but drinking with coffee ground in the cup is new to me. It's just personal preference and I am sure lots of people will like it. First time I went into and Kunafa's, it was so overwhelming. I have a massive sweet tooth, and with all the options, I didn't know what to pick. The menu screen had item names but I couldnt pair them to the items that I was looking at. So I got one of each, and it was the best idea! Everything was delicious, some items sweeter than others, depending on what's in it. The assortment varies and new items/flavours are created all the time! I was talking with another patron who recommended their coffee. I don't drink coffee, but he spoke very highly of it. My favourite is the crispy kunafa, and I highly recommend eating it in while it's hot and fresh. As I got one of each to go, I didnt get to eat it until 1 hour later. Having it hot and fresh in store makes such a huge difference in the consistency of the smooth, gooey cheese contrasting the crisp top. Family friendly: My toddler also didn't like the crispy kunafa when it was 1hr cold, but gobbled up the whole thing when we got it fresh at the store the next visit. read more

The soft cream is covered with the crispy Baklava (very fine Kataifi noodles or phyllo), making the texture very enjoyable. Yummy! When I got invited to join a few foodie friends at Kunafa's, I honestly didn't know exactly what to expect. I knew it was Middle Eastern pastries but that was about it. My husband and I were looking for a local spot to grab some late night dessert and came across Kunafa's online. We saw they had rave reviews on Google so we decided to check it out. It was our first time so we ordered a sampling of a few different things. The star of the show was, not surprisingly, the kunafa. We ordered both the crispy (kishna) and soft (nama) versions and they were both delicious. They're served warm so the cheese is still nice and gooey. The topping compliments the cheese so well. If you like the mixture of savoury and sweet then you'll love these. My husband preferred the crispy kunafa but I don't think I could choose between them. My mom had the basbousa (like a coconut pound cake) and enjoyed it. We also ordered the warbat. Phyllo dough filled with cream and cheese and topped with syrup and pistachios. We liked these so much that we ordered a few to go thinking we'd eat them the next day... but we ate them right after we got home. Needless to say, we'll be back again!
