The ice cream man outside selling ice creams gives a WHOLE EXPERIENCE. Fun for kids! The Turkish ice cream is soooo good, it's stringy/stretchy like mochi and melts slower too! Love the original flavour. But if you go into there's other flavours you can sample/order You can even sit inside the restaurant to enjoy your ice cream on a hot day The staff is very nice and friendly Also OMG the Turkish delights are so good! We came here on an evening for desserts and were disappointed. I believe the quality and taste of their dessert and their customer service could use a lot of improvements. They have a nice decoration with all the Turkish serving dishes and the staff are friendly, but the desserts we ordered didn't have much of a taste and weren't even fresh. We ordered "Honey Pistachio", "Orange Chocolate Cake" and "San Sebastian Cheesecake" from their cold desserts menu, with Turkish Tea and Latte. When the desserts arrived, we couldn't even cut the "Honey Pistachio" as it was really hard and old. So we asked the staff and they offered to change it. And when the new one arrived, they had warmed it up (although it was a cold dessert) and the honey cream was so soft that had turned into liquid and the whole dessert became smashed. When we requested the bill, they didn't provide us with one and only brought the machine and entered the total bill for us to pay. And when we requested the bill, they said they don't provide paper bills anymore! We were shocked and then they offered to show us the bill on their iPad! It appeared that they charged us extra for changing the dessert, so they removed it and emailed the bill after the payment went through. read more

I do not recommend at all. This place has many inconsistencies. Staff cannot handle large groups, food is below average and served cold and when you raise this they act like it's how it should be. Passed by this place several times so was wondering what kind of place it was. Finally got time to visit with friends, but the experience was so-so. It's a cafe restaurant that serves both bakeries and main dishes. Food was OK. Baklava was yum, crispy on the top and had some sort of paste inside, not a lot of nuts though. My friend had the Cozy Breakfast and she didn't seem to be much impressed. Kunafah looked nice and big portion too. The latte I had was on par. The decor was that mid-century style design, but somehow it felt like this place was not recently opened; the interior design was nice but not well maintained. Lastly, I have to say something about their service. The staff definitely need more training. The young man who hosted us seemed quite confused when we were asking for bill. When a table asked for the bill it meant that they were ready to leave, the young man acknowledged our needs, then turned away and started arranging cups...?? We asked three times and he finally showed up when I told another staff that we'd like to skip out on the bill since we were invisible anyway. A bit of a disappointing dining experience. I've passed by this place numerous times after work and wanted to come here in the near future for a lovely meal. On a Saturday afternoon, my boyfriend and I came here to have lunch. I was so excited to finally try its food! We were warmly greeted by a friendly waitress. She brought us water and explained that the menu can be accessed by scanning the QR code. I ordered menemen (Turkish egg scramble) with cheese. He ordered chicken curry with rice. For dessert, we ordered two pieces of pistachio baklava and two scoops of Turkish ice cream (pistachio and milk). Our meal was delicious! I enjoyed the blend of flavours and textures- the soft eggs and eggplants, the gooey cheese, all swimming inside tangy tomato sauce. My boyfriend also enjoyed his meal- he said that the curry was creamy and was full of flavour. The pieces of chicken and mushrooms were cooked just right, they were juicy. We also enjoyed the desserts- the baklava were sweet like maple syrup and each layer with pistachio pieces was joyful to eat. I am writing regarding your Dirty Dancing immersive night last night. Myself and friends were so disappointed with what we experienced. Firstly the event started extremely late with staff yelling out orders to put more tables in, to seat the people they had sold tickets too. Such a disorganized mess to start the night. We were seated at a table with other people, which ended up being the best part as we all endured what was to come. It was so packed that every time someone walked by they were bumping all the guests. The food tasted ok but we hardly had any service, not even water, and no dessert was served. Some of us had salad the rest did not. There was a big argument between staff and a performer right behind us where they were yelling about "friends" eating for free. Unbelievable. Then the "show" started. These people didn't even know the words to the songs and were reading off of clipboards. They even said that they "threw this show together in a week" and said that proudly. Not one of them could sing and were all off key. It was a disgrace. We were all totally disgusted by what was happening. People around us were getting up and leaving. The performers only sang for about an hour which was a blessing. And then they were actually asking for tips!!!!! I cannot believe that something like this was sold as a dinner show for over $100 each. Apparently there are a couple more shows coming up which after last night I would say is a complete scam. This review is based on a "take out" experience or so to speak. I wanted an ice cream and was asked to wait because the girls at the counter also have to take care of dessert orders from the table. One girl was hearing up a desert in a as pan and also putting ice cream in between a baklava. I was waiting and then another girl didn't check who was next and served someone who came in after me. There was disorganization and confusion- the girls at the counter are overworked and scrambling. Please hire more staff to handle all of the random walk ins that you will get on Yonge street, because you are on Yonge street. The food is only based on one scoop of pistachio ice cream and one baklava- but too me these are standards. both of which I couldn't finish. They were so disappointing. The cone and ice cream tasted old and the baklava was dry... :( I don't know how it can be dry. It is really nice to see all of these Turkish places in the city. We visited Mado after a birthday dinner downtown and picked up a few things to go. Started eating the Turkish Delight and broke my tooth on a pebble. As pictured below, this was a pretty good sized piece of rock that unfortunately escaped their quality control. The worst part is that when I brought this to their attention, they did nothing, and after an email to the head office they wrote back in a very dismissive tone, insinuating that I was probably making it up. I have included their response below. For a new business in the city this is not too smart, as they care very little about their customers. BEWARE!! If I could zero stars, I would. My husband and I went into Mado after seeing a hockey game this weekend. It was 10:30 and they closed at 11. We stood by the sign that said "please wait to be seated". The place was empty except for one family (which wound up being family of the owners). Workers saw us standing there and didn't come over to us. We waited close to 10 minutes and then asked the girl behind the counter if we could order ice cream. She said the seating is closed (we were wondering why all of the workers that saw us standing there didn't say this to us.) I was in Toronto last weekend and my hotel was right in the heart of downtown Toronto. I stumbled upon Mado. It's an authentic Turkish ice cream, cafe & bakery. My daughter and I were looking to get ice cream and I recalled seeing them from earlier in the day during my tour around the city. We decided to give them a try. Although they have a bakery, the ice cream was did it for us. Their ice cream is sweet, light and light in flavor. They have a variety of flavors to choose from. You honestly can't go wrong with any of them. They allow you to taste test any flavor prior to purchasing. We loved this cute, vibrant shop so much that we returned just about every night that we stayed in Toronto. The staff there is friendly, patient and efficient. If you inquire about their pastries , they'll let you try them as well. If you're ever in downtown Toronto along Yonge St., I highly recommend stopping by and giving them a try.
