We had an extremely disappointing experience with Kunes of Delavan. We had been communicating with a salesperson since the middle of the week about a specific Ford Expedition and scheduled an appointment to drive two hours to see it. The morning of our appointment, we called because we were running behind. We were told everything was good to go, the vehicle was there, and they would hold it until we arrived. When we got to the dealership after a two-hour drive, we were informed that the Expedition had actually been sold the night before. The issue isn't that the vehicle sold. Vehicles sell every day. The issue is that we specifically called before making the drive and were told the vehicle was available. When a customer is traveling hours to see a vehicle, confirming that it is physically on the lot and still available should be the bare minimum. Had we been told the truth, we would not have made the trip. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, we were repeatedly told that we should have put down a deposit. That completely misses the point. We weren't upset that someone else bought the vehicle, we were upset that we were told it was still there when it wasn't. The experience only got worse from there. A sales manager became argumentative and continued trying to push us into other vehicles after we repeatedly explained that we had come specifically for that Expedition. We had already discussed our budget, yet we were shown vehicles that were roughly $10,000 over what we had stated we were willing to spend. At no point did it feel like anyone respected our time, our budget, or the fact that we had driven four hours round-trip based on information provided by their staff. Mistakes happen, but taking responsibility for them matters. Instead, we were blamed, pressured, and subjected to aggressive sales tactics. Hi! I purchased a 2025 Jeep Compass today, was excited and i haven't had it long enough to really see if anything is wrong with the car itself... However this company is shit. I went in with my boyfriend who was trying to trade in his vehicle and was denied on the spot, I then somehow was drug into it, asking if i could co-sign blah blah blah and i said if it was an absolute need. They ran my credit 8-9 times, told me i wouldn't be able to trade in my OWN vehicle and kept pushing for me to buy this $30,000 car. i told them i had no money to put down and wouldn't be able to today. I tried to explain my situation and they had no care to listen to me. I got there around 11:30 am and left at 5:30 PM, i sat there waiting for paperwork and all while he took personal phone calls, i was getting agitated and ready to leave because i didn't want to buy this vehicle, i stated multiple times i wasn't sure, i was having second thoughts about and he would not let us leave. Anyways i get home and realized he let me leave with 0 proof of residency, 0 proof of income, and no money down as needed. When I started to drive my car it sounded worse then when I brought it into be fixed, so that tells me they didn't drive the car to make sure it was ok! Last Monday, I was on my way to Delavan Resort to meet friends for an afternoon of boating. Something hit the underside of my car causing the under shield to come loose and scraping on the road. When I met my friends, one of them mentioned calling Kunes to see if they could help me out. So I called and talked with Brook in the Service Depart. She told me to bring my car in and they would take a look at it. When I got there Scott was able to put my car on a lift and remove the under shield. He said there was no damage and that I should take it to my honda dealer. I asked Scott what I owed him and he said, "no charge". We really wanted the car but I could not get transparency on numbers despite running credit advised by Brandon these are the numbers then I asked why it doesn't add up they are now "preliminary numbers" 50+ texts plus 2 hours in there still no joy. Back in July of 2021, I was trading out of a 2018 Jeep Cherokee that I was not happy with. I ended up settling on a 2020 Ford EcoSport, as there was a $5,000 rebate on 2020 models. Something didn't feel quite right about the numbers that were being presented on the paper, but I made the mistake of signing off anyway. It turns out that they had filled out the discount field with a negative value, rather than filling out the markup field as my vehicle was marked up by $2,899. I feel manipulated because it took multiple visits to have a sales representative explain why my vehicle was marked up by $2,899. If there is a dealer markup field, it should be used rather than giving the car a "negative discount". That was very shady. Additionally, the dealership had installed wheel locks on the car that I didn't want and charged $300. When I brought up that I didn't want them, they explained how they were already on the car and it would be a hassle to take them off, so I let it be because I don't do well with pressure. Because of this, my $5,000 rebate ended up saving me only $1,801. The dealer pocketed $3,199 from this, in addition to the dealer fee of $399. This was not a good experience and frankly has put me off from dealers for good. There was a very pushy manager with slicked back hair and he insisted he could get me the deal on this car, and questioned me whenever I felt uneasy about the situation. I never want to do business here again and I feel awkward every time I have to come here for warranty service. read more

This is one of the worst dealerships for adding market adjustment fees, considering it is owned by a so-called Christian! I give them three stars because the owner does get back to the communities in many ways. But honestly, the experience sucks once you walk in the door, if you don't have a loan set up with your own bank, they will run your Social Security number and by the time you leave, you'll have a minimum of five hits on your credit score for hard inquiries! Anybody doubts me, I have proof! Sells people are fine, however, they will not say no when it comes to selling Aftermarket items you may or may not really need! Gap insurance you want to save money, get it from your insurance company for only a couple bucks a month! Seriously, your insurance company more unlikely will sell it to you for about three dollars a month rather than paying them over $1000. Xylon coating? I bought a van from them in 2015 and they didn't even wash the vehicle and put the so-called coating over bug debris on my vehicle. What a joke! Their excuses that we do not have a washbay! I believe the Ford dealership in Delavan does, when I bought my truck exactly 2 years ago, I was at their dealership for over five hours, trying to make a deal with them because of all the BS high-pressure crap. They did not wash the vehicle, nor did they fully go over the vehicle as they only use high school students after hours to prep your car, which of course you paid at least $300 for dealer that you did not get. Oh, by the way, I had to install the antenna, they did not! After you buy the car, you'll get a call from your salesman about a week after you bought it to see how you're doing and then after that, your relationship is done! You won't hear from them again, unless they want to sell you something. Your name is sold, off to these companies that sell aftermarket car warranties as you'll get bombarded with calls and mail. I do not use their service center as I only believe they have just a couple guys I would actually trust working on my car and it's a gamble if you get one of them. so if you don't mind sitting in the showroom, annoying, the sales people by saying no no no no to everything they're trying to push at you, you should come out OK with a brand new vehicle don't expect them to prep it properly as that doesn't happen there. if you buy a used vehicle, be careful because they do sell hail damage vehicles from time to time and even the sales people will not disclose that until you find it! Buyer beware, especially when it comes to used vehicles. We found a vehicle that we wanted to possibly buy from Kunes Ford Delevan. We set up a time on a Wednesday to test drive that SUV. We took it for a test drive and felt it shake, but our salesman in the car said "This road is bumpy. I promise you it's just the road." The vehicle was dirty, but the rest of the test drive was fine and we ended up putting money down on the vehicle with a plan to come back on the following Friday to complete the purchase. The two days were supposed to give them enough time to detail the vehicle and get it ready for us. When we arrived on Friday to pick up our vehicle, it was still extremely dirty, had dog hair all over it, and leftover food in the cupholders. We stated our displeasure but were told that it was "cleaned." It was also completely empty of gas and we were told that he couldn't put gas in it because it was a used car. We had to fill up to even be able to drive home. As soon as we got it home we felt the shaking again. We called the next morning and let them know that something was wrong with this vehicle. We ended up taking it back to them so that it could be looked at. After several weeks of back and forth, miscommunication and lies from our salesman, a manager, and the service center, we were told that the transmission was shot and needed to be replaced. Emails we sent to their general and regional managers went unanswered. They refused to replace the transmission and told us that we could get a different vehicle from them and "trade in" the vehicle we already bought from them. We looked online every day for several weeks, but could not find a vehicle that was comparable to the one we had already bought from them. They had our vehicle and all of our money wrapped up in that vehicle. They had given us a couple of different loaners in those few weeks, but the loaners also had problems with them. One of them had a dysfunctional seatbelt, and the other one had transmission problems and the air conditioning didn't work. We finally found a vehicle online that was in our price range, but it was a minivan that was five years older than the SUV we had already bought from them. We set up a time to test drive it, and when we got there, they were not ready for us. We finally test drove it, but it also had problems with it. They gave us another loaner vehicle so that they could fix the problems with this minivan. Finally, it was allegedly fixed and we were able to purchase the minivan because school had already started and we needed a vehicle. Once we had the vehicle in our possession, we ended up having to take it to our local mechanic because what they had supposedly fixed was still not fixed. We have never been treated so poorly as customers as we were with our Kunes experience. Please do your due diligence if you buy a used vehicle from them. Their "no fear" motto is a joke. read more

The folks at Kunes saved our Memorial Day weekend! As we drove away from our house for a three day weekend to visit with relatives across the state, I got a "trunk ajar" warning on my Ford Mustang dashboard. I pulled over to check it. The trunk was actually locked shut. Unable to open. A strap from a suitcase had got caught in the latch and there was no way to open it. When we arrived in Delavan I dropped my wife off at my in-laws and did a search for Ford dealerships. I called the first listing and they said "We're sorry, but we have sent all of our mechanics home for the Memorial Day Weekend. But they'll be back Tuesday." Here I am, 11am on a Saturday, with no way to get to our belongings (or prescriptions) and weekend plans ruined. I tried another listing - Kunes Ford Lincoln. Scott, a manager, answered saying they were open until 3pm. They had techs working on at least 8 different vehicles. I remembered I had heard about this dealership on The Bill Michaels radio show. I mentioned their service center was HUGE. They said it was a new addition and 1 of only 4 in the state with air conditioning. I spent some time looking at some beautiful new models on the showroom floor and waited about 20 minutes in a very nice, new lounge. BAM! Done! They fixed the problem on the jammed trunk door. They moved the suitcase that caused the problem and repacked the overloaded little trunk. And they washed the car! 20 minutes, VERY affordable, total professionals. Kunes has a new customer! I may plan visits to family in Delavan just to get my car serviced there. read more

No, they told me we can work around anything. I was put in a vehicle to test drive. An hour later after being told we can get you approved they came out with the paperwork. I said at this time I don't have much or nothing really for a down payment. Long story short they ended up wanting 2600 down and 600/mo payments and a co-signer. I got nothing but did get a call two days later. Told we can get it done. Drove another hour there to get the EXACT same thing. Left with nothing other than a little passed. You can't do it quit telling people you can and then say no. It really makes someone feel like crap. Where do I start? I went in there with my step-mom because they were calling her nonstop promising her a car. After driving down there from Grayslake IL, we specifically told them we did not want a Ford and were open to ANY OTHER BRAND of vehicle. It was originally supposed to be that I would be cosigning with my step-mom and she would be the primary buyer. After a few hours of waiting, our saleswoman pulls around a car that we were approved for... A 2019 Ford Escape. Exactly what we didn't want! But we were desperate for a reliable car. After driving it off the lot, we noticed things wrong with it right away-- windshield was cracked in multiple spots, and the power window switches didn't work on two of the doors. Furthermore, the registration on the vehicle was COMPLETELY THE WRONG VEHICLE! They had it listed on more than one piece of paperwork that it was a 2019 Acura. But upon glancing at the paperwork, I noticed that the only name on the paperwork was mine! They made me the sole owner of the car and didn't even tell us!! fast forward to when I went back in to the dealership for the windows and the windshield-- They did not properly reattach the drivers door panel back on. it is loose and so is the passenger side. One of the technicians left their tool in my car, and they didn't seal the bottom of the windshield (the plastic part). Also, when they were trying to finance me for the car, they ran my credit TWENTY TIMES!!! TWENTY TIMES!!! In what world is that okay??? I got the car May 15th, 2023, and just received YET ANOTHER letter from a bank that they tried to finance me through on July 13th. In my opinion, I would not set FOOT in this dealership let alone trust them enough with your credit report. They will screw you over. read more

Buyer beware! Kunes country Ford in Delavan. When looking for vehicles it's best to avoid this dealership and I'll tell you why. In May of this year I purchased a 2011 Kia Sedona from this dealership they must have saw me coming. I'm more accustomed to seeing the paperwork filled out sitting at the desk of the sales manager and having the charges explained. That's NOT how Kunes Country Ford does business. I looked at a few vehicles and the salesman Nico was friendly enough and took the time to answer my questions about each one. I settled on a Kia Sedona that was priced at $5,000 dollars and it had more than 163,000 miles which concerned me but it seemed in good shape despite that and the price seemed reasonable. After that, is when everything went wrong. Nico informed Jason the sales manager that I decided on this vehicle and then I sat and I waited. I went to leave a few different times, but Nico would go back and talk to someone and return saying it will be just a bit longer, so I continued to wait. Nico was very pleasant and even bought me a Dr. pepper. He talked to me while I waited more than five hours before I was told the paperwork was ready. I went back and I'm reasonably sure it was Jason who had me sign the paperwork, but I was just told on the phone by Tom that Mike Kunes handled the paperwork. Whoever handled the paperwork added $3,194 of extra charges without disclosing them. I didn't find out about these extra charges until I contacted Guardian credit union. I've been trying to get a refund ever since. I called and asked for Gregg Kunes a few different times, but I was told he wasn't available. I talked to Allison his assistant and she assured me she'd look into it. A short time later I get a phone call from Jason and he in a very threatening and hostile manner told me to "come there and say that to his face" when I asked him about these extra charges. He blamed it on their financial aid department. I called Allison back. She said then she'd have the regional manager look into it. They are all denying these extra charges were placed on the contract. The price of the car was written up as $6,000 in the paperwork. They added a gap coverage for $895 and Ziridium for $1299. The gap coverage was explained to me, but no one said it was costing an additional $895. I had discussed the Ziridium but no one said it was $1299. I was told it was a few dollars a month and I was tired by the time I was rushed through the paperwork which was already written out when I was brought back to the sales office. I never expected they would add all these extra charges. The paperwork is more than 16 pages long and I unfortunately trusted the person who explained the paperwork to me and I never once thought to ask "oh are you adding extra charges? Or are you raising the price of the car?" I've since complained to the BBB and the consumer protection of Wisconsin and hopefully justice will be served. This has been several months and when Tom called me on the phone today 10/17 and wouldn't listen to what I was saying and kept trying to argue with me stating that I should have read the paperwork. I finally lost my temper and cussed him out. I never thought that a company with so many dealerships would treat people this way, but I guess they are not concerned with their reputation. Even in a year as rough as 2020 has been on everyone, they'd rather extort extra charges out of someone rather than treat them better. read more

I have had bad experiences with car dealerships before and this experience was the icing on the cake... my fiancee came in to get an oil change and it took well over an hour for it to finish... staff was very inconsiderate never checked in on us... the average oil change should take 30-45 minutes... I have seen some slow oil changes done... but they have helpful and friendly staff... at this location absolutely terrible service never asked any questions the only reason we came here today was because it was "free" and then they start with the annoying oh you need this and that... just want an oil change it honestly felt like we were being held hostage until we agreed to do something else so we picked to do a rotation... if you need an oil change do NOT come here ever waste of time and energy read more
