This place has been here for years. I would walk home from school and always stop for some food. Quiet calm place to just sit, relax and enjoy some delish food. I would recommend the orange special. It's very delish and fulfilling. The staff is friendly and nice

The restaurant is not the nicest, and service isn't the best with a large language barrier, but food came out fast. The chan's special was tasty and came with a side of decent hot sour soup, but the fried rice was nothing special. I'd reccomend beef fried rice over chicken though. The fortune cookies came out without wrappers, maybe they were homemade, but I got the two dishes for $19.

    The sesame beef.

I really enjoy their shrimp and broccoli in black bean sauce. The servings are large enough for two meals. They are fast and friendly.

My favorite for Chinese food in Salem. Hit-or-miss service and the atmosphere isn't attractive, but I love the food.

Plenty of street parking available and the storefront had lovely plants at the entrance. Walking in felt a little crowded and awkward because of the small entryway. But it did look like they have a few booths, tables, window seating, and even a bigger private room in the back. The lunch specials were $9.99 which was an amazing value for sure! I got the Happy Bimbim Bap with chicken and my hubby got the Spicy Pork Bento Box (the bigger one for $15) The friendly staff set up our table and gave us all hot and freshly made green onion pancakes which was a nice touch! (Although it was a little too oily) Our food came out super fast - within 10 minutes of ordering?! The kids and I enjoyed all the veggies and egg for my bimbim bap but the chicken were cut until small pieces were just ok. My husband did enjoy his Spicy Pork with a good amount of spice (they asked him if he wanted spicy) and came with potstickers, California rolls, rice, and a side salad. My daughter actually really loved the green bean banchan and the daikon and kimchi were super delicious too! The owner came to our table to say hi to the kids and each table got watermelon as dessert (the Asian way!) She was so nice and offered extra watermelon for the kids if they wanted it. It also looked like they do a lot of local community work with the homeless and were super involved in providing food to those that need it. Such a lovely local restaurant. If you're in the area definitely come give it a try!

I ordered their combo dinner of KALBI & DOLSOT BIBIMBOP with chicken. It came with all the the accoutrement. This was so fresh, stayed hot my entire meal and even ended with some fresh and sweet watermelon. Top tier! I would not dare pass this place up if looking for a spot to eat in Salem. It is within walking distance from the Salem convention center.

We let our waitress know it was our first time here and she made several wonderful suggestions. Starting with the egg flower and hot and sour soups, very flavorful. The Dimsum was wonderful and full of flavor. We ordered BBq Pork egg foo young and the flavors popped. We also ordered the Mandarin chicken which was both spicy and sweet but not too spicy, just perfect. My husband also ordered a combination plate with Sweet and sour pork, shrimp, and chicken lomein and fried rice. Our over all experience was great and we will be back. The inside is very spacious too. Again, with the typical red and gold Chinese dragon décor. I love this sort of place. Makes me feel really comfortable. We were seated at a rather economically sized booth. Me and my birthday girl sister's butts barely fit. Me and my parents traveled from Portland to Salem to take my sister out for her birthday lunch and she highly recommended this place. Per usual, there were scads of choices to behold on the menu. My parents shared some sort of beef vegetable dish. My scallop and vegetable plate was wonderful. Usually places are stingy with their scallops. Not here. I had oodles of scallops. Like more than I knew what to do with. I ended up with a to go container. The whole time we were sitting there I kept eyeing the red door that beckoned Lounge on it. My mind imagined all sorts of scenarios going on behind that red door; all of them seedy. Because that's how my mind works. I couldn't wait until we were all boxed up and ready to go so I could check it out. Imagine my surprise: Nothing but good, clean, wholesome, fun happening in there. There's a pool table, folks were eating. A nice gentleman at the bar and a friendly bartender. My fortune cookie was pretty awesome and probably true too. Bravo, Hong Kong House! 2024 - Review # 10
