I'm not sure how many cooks were back there but the food took a very very long time to come out for our party of five. There was also no one else in the restaurant at the time we ordered. Besides that though, our waitress was super nice and refills came often. The salad bar was a highlight of our expierence here. You got to choose from different types of lettuce, toppings and even macaroni salad. The only downfall is that it was just one trip allowed. You really have to load it up in the tiny bowls they give you. As for the hush puppies, they were hot and fresh. The portion was alright but definitely could've used some more for a party of our size. Great for 2-3 people tho. The butter it came with paired very well and added a nice creamyness to the soft inside of the appetizer. I would say this was another highlight. As for my food, the seared oysters were very salty. They tasted like they were fresh out of the Atlantic. I think some more seasoning to balance it out would have helped. The shrimp was okay, nothing spectacular. The scallops were probably the best out of the three I got. They melted in your mouth and were seasoned generously. As for my side of green beans, they were actually excellent. They weren't some fancy green bean that you don't like, they were buttery and soft like a traditional southern green bean. I loved them so much. As for my girlfriends dish, her clam strips were excellent. Everything you want in a bite sized snack dish. The fries were okay, nothing to die for in my opinion. The crab cakes were okay, the inside had a lot of flavor and they were nicely sized. The crispy outside added a nice bite to it as well. The thing holding be back from giving it five starts is one, the wait time to get our food, and two the price. The price is really high especially for the amount of food you get. My dish alone was 28 dollars and I left the restaurant still hungry. The quality was 7/10 but I didn't quite understand the fancyness of the restaurant. The only thing that matched that vibe was the small portions. I think I would give John's a try again if I was in the area and I think it's something to try. Her grandparents said they have the best seafood in town and although it was good, the price is holding it back for me. I would recommend you try it yourself though.
