This placed had good reviews so I decided to try it for myself. Walked in in the afternoon. It was not busy and I had a choice of seating outside or inside. Sat in a booth inside since it was a little warm outside. Bomb MI was good. It had black garlic sesame aioli, kimchi, pork belly, sunny side egg, cucumber on a sesame seed bun. The Southside was alright. It is bombay gin, St. Germaine, Jack Rudy small-batch tonic, and soda. Would have given this place a 4/5 if not for the crappy service. The rude guy working the bar was neither friendly or pleasant. There were no napkins when food was served. I stood up and politely asked for some. I found some below the register and, since the guy was busy prepping drinks, I decided to get them myself. He then said, "okay do my job," which was unnecessary and rude. Though the other waiter was friendlier, service was overall bad.

The food was so good! You could tell they really put time into those burgers. I wish there were more fries but the fries were really tasty. The inside was dark so we decided to eat outside. The staff were so so nice and pretty chill I would definitely recommend for yall to check this out when you're on the boardwalk.

The fries are basic, but the bourbon was banging. I really enjoyed the burger got... Something to do with being hot and spicy. Enjoyed the flavor and the cook! Not sure if I enjoyed the burger or the old fashioned more... The old-fashioned didn't last as long as a burger so maybe it was the burger. Ha This is one of those places that is unapologetically who they are. I love those kind of places! Clearly a dive bar that makes it very evident that they are who they are ... if you don't like it, go somewhere else. Their sign about chicken (see picture attached) clearly emphasizes this point. While they are clearly not aiming to be a scent family spot, this is the perfect type of spot for me and my family. Wifey says the huntsman burger was underwhelming, skip that one. Go for the fiery one!

My husband and I tried Repeal during a recent trip. We had the poutine, burgers, and truffle macaroni and cheese. The burgers were the star of the meal and had great flavor. The Mac and cheese was second and also tasted great. The fries are breaded; I would pass on these if we eat here again.

My Uber driver recommended Repeal Bourbons and Burgers, saying it had the best burgers on the strip. I had to check it out! The inside is small with a bar, I chose to sit outside. After dealing with a few bugs, I regretted my choice. The waiter was cheerful and pleasant. I ordered The Classic for $15.00, all burgers come with chips or fries. The burger was large, and it had too many pickles for my liking, it was juicy, and the fries were crisp. I got full quickly. Although I wouldn't say it was the best burger, it was close.

I came here for dinner on a Tuesday and I got one of their special burger which had pork, pimento cheese, onion, and bbq sauce ($17) with a side of Mac n cheese (+$2) . The daiquiri ($13) came out in about 6 minute and it was a strong drink! Food then came out in about 15 minutes. The burger was quite huge with the combination of pork and beef. I had to deconstruct the burger a bit to eat it, but the burger itself was very juicy and crispy. The pimento cheese was a very good addition to it. Staff were friendly. Overall I had a good experience here and would come back again ! Food(50%): 8.3 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 7.7 Overall: 8.0/10

I've had Repeal on my list of places to try for quite some time and since my friend and I were in the area on a Friday evening, we decided to stop in. The hostess, Jayden, told us that it would be a 35-40 minute wait for the two of us. I thought that was a bit odd considering there were two open booths available. We were told those booths were saved for larger parties. Umm ok. We asked if we could sit at the bar but were still told that the wait for our food would probably be very long...we took our chances. After looking over the menu, the sweet bartender told us we definitely could order at the bar and was unsure why we were advised otherwise. We started with some cocktails and appetizers. I ordered the Brussels Sprouts and the Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Both were just okay. I also ordered The Huntsman with Truffle Fries while my friend ordered The Classic with Truffle Mac n Cheese. Our burgers were served within a decent time but unfortunately were not prepared to our liking. We both requested "medium well" and both burgers were well done. Unfortunately since my friends was overly cooked, she had to return it and they removed it from her bill. My burger was pretty decent. Even though it was well done, the bacon burger aioli, Dr.Pepper BBQ and the Tabasco onion strings made it tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed the Truffle Fries and the Truffle Mac n Cheese wasn't bad either. Unfortunately, no one checked on us until we were almost finished with our food, but maybe it was due to them being short staffed. As I went to pay for my meal, we were told to check out the speakeasy that was in the alley right behind Repeal. As we left, I did notice a couple and their, small child sitting at one of the booths that we were told we couldn't sit at. Very interesting. We did stop at the speakeasy. It's literally at the end of the alley right by the restaurant with a red light outside the door. I believe it's only open on weekends. It was a cute little spot that served drinks and snacks. I inquired about their dessert and unfortunately, they didn't have any. I wish we had a better experience at Repeal, especially since I've read nothing but great things about their burgers. I'm not sure if I will return but I hope they can improve their service.

Buckle in for the story I'm about to tell you. I've been coming here for the past three years now. And I mean three years- go back and look I've made multiple reviews. I loved this place for their delicious burgers, their fries, and their quick service. I was disappointed when my meal came out and it was not what I was used to. The burger was disappointing, lacking flavor and the fries were different than what we were used to. I'm wondering if their management changed or if the economy put pressure on their ingredients or what because nobody notified us. We are probably the most regular regular this place has and we were blindsided. I don't know if I'll be back. Yes we did eat everything. Yes the service is spectacular and incredible, but I encourage them to go back to their ways.

Visited Repeal Bourbon & Burgers with a friend -- we were both in the mood for a solid burger and figured we'd try somewhere new. The reviews looked promising, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the hype. Oceanfront tip: if you're going on a weekend when something's happening down there -- don't forget about parking. It was a mess. We had to pay $20 and walk several blocks since the restaurant doesn't have its own lot. When we arrived, it wasn't packed, but the hostess still told us there'd be a 30-minute wait. We spotted two empty seats at the bar and asked if we could just sit there. She said yes, but warned us the kitchen was slammed and we might not be able to get food quickly. I even overheard her whisper to a waitress something like "they're just waiting on a table anyway" -- like they weren't going to bother serving us, which felt unprofessional. Thankfully, the bartender was the bright spot. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made decent drink recommendations. We ordered cocktails and eventually went ahead and placed food orders at the bar. I ordered a classic burger with some add-ons; my friend got one of their loaded ones. We shared fries, Brussels sprouts, and mac & cheese. The fries were hands down the best part of the meal. The burgers? Both severely overcooked. Mine was dry, hard, and completely overdone -- closer to a hockey puck than anything I'd want to eat. My friend's was also overdone, but had enough toppings to cover it up a bit. It took forever before anyone checked on us, and when I shared the issue, it felt like they took it personally instead of handling it with care. By that time, we were ready to pay and leave. And then the biggest red flag of the night: while we were still sitting at the bar, a waitress came over to refill the fruit tray behind the bar -- bare hands, no gloves, touching everything with her fingers. No handwashing. No tongs. Just casually manhandling the fruit that goes into drinks. That moment completely turned us off. Before we left, we were encouraged to check out their Speakeasy in the back, which is actually really cute -- dark, moody lighting, cozy seating, and vintage vibes. We thought about grabbing dessert there, but even though we were handed a dessert menu, the waitress told us they didn't actually have any desserts available. Final note: we realized this spot wasn't even a contestant in the big Burger Battle Fest we went to the weekend before. And honestly? After that meal... we see why. Repeal has a good look and a great hidden lounge, but food quality, cleanliness, and service need work. I might go back for drinks in the Speakeasy, but definitely not for dinner.

Repeal will always be a favorite local spot to visit. My most recent visit here was right before attending the Shaboozey concert at The Dome, and this was the best way to get into the Shaboozey mood. Their burgers always hit the spot and they have great drink options. The servers have always been attentive and the place has such a settle, laidback vibe.

I was a little apprehensive coming over here for dinner on Tuesday night; I was in town for a brief business trip and Virginia Beach in November is not an ideal situation in many ways. Most of the places I walked by were closed for the season (understandably so) and/or were basically just cheap, crappy boardwalk stuff. When I got to the door of Repeal, there was a sign literally warning me that I wasn't going to find pizza or similar food on the premises. Honestly? Felt better immediately and walked in. This was a very comfortable bar/restaurant. It's pretty tiny though I imagine in warmer weather it's a little better in that regard with the addition of the outdoor seating area. The bartender told me I could sit at one of the empty tables or at the bar, and I chose the latter. Pretty busy in there - I think it was about 5:30pm or so. Looked to be a solid mix of locals and visitors, which wasn't too surprising given the limited options in the area. Bourbon is in the name of this establishment, so that was my first stop. This was the first time I've encountered a build your own Old-Fashioned section of a menu, but I certainly hope it's not the last. I opted for one featuring Angel's Envy, and my bitters selection (yes, you had that option as well) was the bartender's specific recommendation, Elemakule Tiki, or cinnamon/all spice. Honestly delicious on all fronts. If I hadn't had to be a grownup wearing a blazer the next morning, that might have been a multiple cocktail situation. Really hit the spot on a nippy evening. It felt important to order some sustenance as well, so I got a plain Huntsman (elk, boar, wagyu and bison patty) with a side of truffle mac and cheese. Honestly, this is where they lost me a little. In what to me is a self-inflicted wound, they've made the choice to utilize pre-made frozen patties. And you can tell. I got what I assume is considered the highest standard burger patty they have and it was just okay. A little too greasy and not as flavorful as you'd want from a quality piece of cattle. A bit disappointing; for a restaurant that does go out of its way to promote its gastropub vibes, this feels like a very obvious fix to me. The truffle mac was in the same genre and the top layer of cheese was a little rubbery. Hard to go wrong overall with the truffle flavor though. I do want to make it clear - the food wasn't bad but you expect better when you walk in, especially given the attention they've paid to the whiskey. The service was excellent. As mentioned, the bartender gave me a great bitters recommendation and every staff member I interacted with was attentive and stopped by regularly to check in on me. There were a lot of conversations nearby that indicated I was not getting special treatment in that regard, unquestionably a good thing. The price point was super competitive as well; I think the drink was actually cheaper than the burger, which is not typical for my experiences, but the total cost was in the $30s - really not bad at all. A definite recommend, especially given its nearby, pretty much non-existent competition. This would be pretty much perfect if the food was as good as the Old-Fashioned. Hopefully the burgers become made to order in the near future.

One piece of advice: arrive a little before Happy Hour begins at 3:00 p.m. If you wait until then, you'll likely find yourself several people deep in line. Don't let that discourage you. Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list. You'll be glad you did, and you can rest assured that you're helping support one of our outstanding local restaurants.

Shout out to Sky Bar for bringing the igloo culture to Virginia Beach!…read moreNow if we could just keep this trend going in Spring/Summer... May I recommend a possible bungalow rental, just like your igloos? Can you tell Summer is on my mind? Sky Bar is one of my favorite places to go. I love the trendy, upscale atmosphere, but they still keep you grounded with their prices being fair & reasonable. They usually also have happy hour, when Sky Bar is actually Sky Bar, not their homemade winter wonderland. I'm going to highlight their igloos though, only because it's something seasonal, and new. You get an igloo reserved for up to 4 of your closes friends, and the igloo comes with: -personal server -decorated, social-distanced space -two heaters -blankets you can take home -waters -and honestly so many picture perfect opportunities. The food on the menu was also amazing, and I am all about experience, so I would highly recommend the s'mores kit. It makes the atmosphere seem more bonded, it's a warm winter night where you are able to do this, and the s'mores kit just set the tone to be a little more perfect. They have their signature drinks, or regular drinks to order just like a bar as well. They also do offer non-alcoholic beverages if anyone was wondering, wish also makes it kid-friendly! Nothing in the igloo was breakable either, which was nice not to worry about. I wish there was a little more space, to maybe have up to 5-6 people. Either way, I loved it. I loved the experience, and I can't wait for next Winter to do this again! And that says a lot, because if you know me, I hate the cold. But I will face Winter if I know I'm going here!

It is fully shaded which was nice considering we had some young kids with us. Service staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. I'd encourage them to be more targeted when describing some recommendations on the menu, she simply listed about the entire menu she asked "what are some of your favorites". Drinks were delivered very fast by the bartender. 2nd rounds were offered prior to the drinks being empty which shows good serving habits. The serving portions were very plentiful and played very well on the brunch theme! Burger was cooked medium well but still very juicy with a delicious mayo based sauce. The chicken and biscuit was juicy and the biscuit was flaky and delicious. It would have served the dish well TJ have a little more syrup. I also loved the unique hash tots. I was simply visiting from out of state so I won't return, but I'd encourage you to! They are also included on Resy so be sure to book there or use a Resy credit if you have it!

Food came out very quick and they easily added things to my order. The biscuits and gravy were delicious! Personally I definitely recommend adding an extra egg, jalapeños and cheese. The pancakes were solid too, albeit a bit pricy. The restaurant had great vibes and intentional design. Indoor does have limited seated but there is plenty of outdoor in the front and back. Well worth a visit!

The drink menu options had some cool names for the speciality drinks. I tried their Aries SZN that was sweet and more on the tart side if you like that combo I would recommend it. Food options were endless with classic food to your going out food I did there girl dinner which comes with a Caesar Salad truffle fries with a Diet Coke or coke all for $25 that right there a perfect combo for something to have after or before night out or to just evening bite. Our server was excellent with telling us what options would be a good choice and he also mentioned if we had any allergy or allergies to anything to make sure it was prepared right which to me is always a good thing to be ask. My favorite part was the view of the garden it just added a sweet touch to while you are enjoying some good food and company and it the food was delicious and well prepared I will definitely recommend this if you are nearby the oceanfront I would come visit it and request for outdoor seating if you want to see the garden and take some pictures and lounge eat and drinks some good food that made fresh and prepared very good and drinks that are well crafted this the place to go to.

Staff was great as always but the food was not what I usually expect. I ordered the burger which was fine ! But the fries were overcooked and maybe even reheated? They used to have hand cut -almost shoestring-potatoes. Maybe that has changed-! Just disappointed but will def go back!
