Amazing experience. Our servers were Eric and Katrina - both were super helpful in picking our dishes and drinks. The drinks are perfect - match their description exactly. We went with the Match menu and glad we did. Had things we would have never otherwise tried - and were pleasantly surprised by all of them! Also portions of the rolls are giant!!! 8 pieces to a roll. Bar none the best Japanese place I've had in the Atlantic City area. Sushi is extremely good and the hot items are good even if a little bit small. Size wise. Prices are a little high but I don't think outrageous for the quality and being in a casino. Would happily go back again and it's probably a top three or four meal I've had in Atlantic City. BEWARE- This is a long read but may save you money in the long run - I wanted to do something special for my husband's birthday and after viewing the tasting menu for two at Kuro, I thought it would be the perfect thing. While waiting to be seated for our reservation I asked the hostess about the tasting menu for two to verify and she said yes that goes on every night. We were seated in Katrina's area. Katrina gave us two options 1. Order off the menu on our own or 2. Try the menu mapping option. I asked if this was the same as the tasting for two as stated on the site ($75.00 per person) she said yes. Katrina asked us a few questions and the food started coming out. I saw some of the things coming out were different than what the site stated would be served. I thought maybe this has changed or based off our answers we get something else since we said we liked spicy, and a few things were spicy. Our last item was the hot stone with Wagyu. The amount was clearly an ounce or less, no big deal it was delicious either way. I paid the bill (larger than I thought it should be) and tipped Katrina. Here's where things got really sketchy. Kuro closed at 11:00. At 12:01 am I receive a phone call from an unknown number, they leave a message. Its "Samantha" the manager from Kuro stating, "I'm calling to let you know that Katrina was your waitress and the vouchers you used didn't go through and neither did the penny tip you left her". I called her back and let her know we paid with my bank card and tipped Katrina well because she did a great job, however there was another Danielle seated next to us and maybe there was a mix up. "Samantha" apologizes, and we hang up. Two minutes later I receive another call from the same number, and they left a voicemail.... "Hi Michelle this is Samantha I'm calling to let you know that Katrina was your waitress and the vouchers you used didn't go through and neither did the penny tip you left her". SAME EXACT MESSAGE. Now I'm aggravated because its after 12:00 and this is HIGHLY unprofessional. I call Samantha back and ask if this is a scam because this all seems a bit too weird. She starts sounding nervous. I told her it was extremely unprofessional to call people from a personal line which she states it's not so I asked why a manager wouldn't answer the phone as "Kuro". At this point a guy in the background starts hacking his brains out while stating "this is some good s**t". VERY PROFESSIONAL KURO. Samantha or whoever was acting as Samantha must have freaked out because a few minutes later I received a text from her with a photo of her manager's card. Again, she was very focused on getting me to believe this was not a scam. It gets even better... I now check my receipt; I was charged $105.00 for the Wagyu hot stone ALONE. I did NOT ask for this dish, I asked for the tasting menu for two several times. Like I said earlier the meat they brought out was only an ounce IF THAT. When you look on the REGULAR menu it says "Three-ounce minimum for Wagyu hot stone" the receipt says $35.00 per ounce. So not only did I pay about 125 per person I also got harassed after hours which should never be allowed. The food and drinks are not worth it. read more

I made a reservation here for my friend's 50th birthday and was supremely disappointed! The place looks nice and has a cool vibe but that's the only good part! We decided to order the price fixed to try a few items and it was barely edible. The meat was undercooked, the sea bass was very fishy and the miso soup had an awful strange taste. We sent back the soup and they brought it back to our table and said the chef said it was better now. What that meant we have no idea since it tastes exactly the same, terrible! The last course was the sushi which we were excited for since we barely ate anything to this point and that was the biggest disappointment. The salmon was terribly fishy and the shrimp tempura didn't taste like shrimp in any way. It was warm and had asparagus inside which made it taste even worse. We didn't eat any of it!! We asked to speak to the manager and he wasn't apologetic in the least, it being my friend's birthday dinner. He comped part (??) of the meal and we left to never return again... awful experience. Absolutely five star dining! We had Joseph as our server and he was knowledgeable and catered toward our tastes for each item he expertly chose for us. Yes, you can give your server your dinner budget and they will ask you a few questions to find out what you like. A menu is expertly drafted up for you and I really enjoyed his recommendations! Service was excellent and the food was very very good. Why were the Brussels sprouts so dang delicious? And the tempura white fish with the truffle lemon sauce!? And the shrimp skewers?! This is our usual place when we come to hard rock. The sushi is always very fresh and melts in your mouth. We like to create our own "omakase" menu which is selecting the special ones from the nigiri menu which we find better than the normal omakase selection. Remember to ask about their specials ! The uni from Japan is so fresh and sweet ! Our favorite dish is the Brussels sprouts which I have no idea how they make it but its so crispy and delicious with the bits of radish they add on the top. The Skewers are also very good. The pork belly and the corn is a must try. I also love the crispy tuna rice appetizers which we usually get every time. They also have amazing Wagyu per oz or on skewer etc. You will definitely leave with a happy belly :) read more

My crew and I arrived in AC on a sailboat we were moving from Florida to Rhode Island. We only had a day to hang out, but it was a good day. What took it from good to GREAT was our visit to Kuro. First of all, we had an awesome server named Alex. He was attentive and provided a ton of advice and background on the various dishes. He custom crafted a drink for one of our crew using cherry bitters, and he put together a fantastic drink for me from blackberry jam infused vodka. When we go out, we like to try small amounts of a lot of different dishes. Kuro is PERFECT for this. We tried Kobe sushi, Imported Scallop, Tempura Shrimp, Spicy Tuna rolled in black sesame, and a house roll that included several different seafood combinations. It was all fantastic! As if the great food and service wasn't enough, we took our meal in the bar area where there was a two member band playing called "Five Times Famous". They played an incredible range of music from classic deep tracks to more modern music. They were engaged with us and tailored their set list specifically to our table! I did not make any reservations but was able to walk in. Something about the place... I like how dark the dining area is... Like there isn't bright ass lights, it's kind of dim... I really like that about it... Wasn't sure what to really get, so got the "A taste of Kuro for two." Which was super pricey. $75 per person. I would say it's a pretty decent selection for customers who don't know what to order. I would rate the food 3.5/5 The dessert that came with it was really yummy. Customer service wasn't that memorable for me so they probably didn't give me an impression or rarely checked my table. The restroom is shared with the next door restaurant, it's a pretty nice, clean bathroom. I would say it's a decent place. I wouldn't come again cus I'm too broke for the pricey menu read more

I came here for my birthday and had a great experience. It's a little pricey and the menu is hard to understand but the servers are very nice and helpful and the food is good. For drinks, they have great cocktails. I'm not sure what mine was called but I came here with a lot of friends and tried theirs as well and they were all pretty good. The crispy brussels sprouts are a great appetizer, we ended up having two orders. The sushi, salmon kare, and spicy seafood soup (super spicy) were all very good as well. We've been going to Kuro for 6-7x or every time we are in Hard Rock AC. The reason for this is their excellent food and impeccable service with ambience to boot. Always a hit, never a miss. The place is only open 3days a week on weekend days. Place is ably run by Chef Shingo+Chef Leslie and well supported by the happy and attentive yet unobtrusive waitstaff+station staff like Christian, Eric and Sam. A big shoutout to them all. We have almost gone through their whole menu and everything is just so flavorful! But my favorite is the Chilean Sea Bass which is cooked to perfection every single time!! My husband goes for their omakase and is always enthralled by Chef Shingo's creative choices and animated explanation that comes with it. Some other favorites are Seabass Nori, Beef Negima and Pork Belly. But on a most recent visit, we tried the 3oz Hobayaki order and it was heavenly, the beef just melts in your mouth! This was prepared artfully right before your eyes by Chef Leslie. Would we be considered gluttons if we order a full pound of it? Just yum all around! Pay Kuro a visit when you're in AC and you'll be transported to food heaven. Very highly recommended! read more

My girlfriend and I make it a point to stop by at Kuro in AC each time we stay. We ordered the crispy rice tuna, crispy brussel sprouts, sushi omakase, and the wagyu rice don. For dessert we split a matcha cheesecake which had such deep flavor with a plum chutney. This time by far was one of the most memorable experiences as the head sushi chef came by the table to drop off the Saba and Tamago sushi. He stopped by a few minutes after with an off-menu dessert for us to try and chatted with us about his sushi. Bf finally agrees to come to a Japanese restaurant (mr. non-sushi, non- anything new) and we got a winner! Had a late night reservation last night, checked in and was seated right away. We met our very informative and delightful server Eric. Bf explained he only came for me and hoped they had "real" food. We asked Eric so many questions and with everyone of them, he answered perfectly. He is a main reason we will come back here. We started with the seasonal tempura vegetables which we both enjoyed with our cocktails. For the main course, I had sushi that was prepared, presented and tasted exquisite. Bf had real steak and chicken prepared on the robata grill. The beef shishito was skewed with delicious Japanese hot peppers which enhanced the beef. Then to top it off we both shared a wonderful Japanese dessert the hazelnut bar. My first time here. Inside the restaurant was very beautiful. I was looking forward to a goo experience here this night after reading some of the reviews. They have an interesting drink/cocktail selection. The sushi/ sashimi, while good, was far from traditional. Service could have been better considering the small crowd this night. This night much of the staff seemed to be preoccupied with chatting with guest who were either friends or VIP's. Portions were surprisingly small and over priced for what you got. Upon viewing the chef and kitchen staff it was also interesting how many of the staff did not wear gloves while touching food. Possibly some food handling training is required. I did see two individuals wearing gloves. If you are looking for authentic Asian/Japanese restaurant you may want to keep searching. If you aren't particular and have to eat in the casino and get pseudo-Japanese food then this is your only choice. The young bartender was very knowledgeable on cocktails and very polite. What an amazing meal. First of all, the service was top notch. Our server Sam was easily in the top 1% of servers i've ever had. Ever. Super friendly, warm, attentive, and with superb recommendations. The food was top notch. I was initially wary of ordering the Sushi Omakase, as there was potential to be your run of the mill sushi love boat for two. But what I received instead was a delcious order of at least 12 pieces of some of the best sushi I've ever had. I've eaten at the chef's table omakase style with a Michelin starred head chef in NYC, and believe it or not the quality of this sushi came pretty close. The sushi was the star, but I do not want to ignore the great Wagyu lollipops we had and the amazing panna cotta for dessert. Amazing meal overall. read more

Tonight was my first visit at Kuro in Hard Rock and will not be my last. I've eaten at every restaurant in the casino and saved this for last. I'm disappointed I didn't try Kuro first and missed out on the amazing food. Our waitress Elizabeth was phenomenal! Her professionalism and recommendations were on point. Constantly checking on the tables making sure our glass of water was never empty, cleaning every bit of crumb off the table between dishes. Her smile made us feel welcomed. Kuro is lucky to have such a dedicated employee that will have its customers keep coming back not just for the food or atmosphere, because of her customer service. My wife and I ordered the tasting menu that had seven dishes plus two desserts (attached receipt on what we had) where the waitress (Elizabeth) asks you five simple questions on what we don't like, allergies, and etc. so that she can create the most perfect meal. EVERYTHING Elizabeth brought out for the tasting was out of this world, I honestly couldn't tell you what my favorite dish was, they were ALL THAT GOOD from the Crispy Brussels to the Pork Belly with ending the most delicious dessert Japanese Donuts and Apple Tobanyaki. My wife and I both left Kuro more than satisfied in a food coma. We are excited to plan our next visit because the food is something that will leave you dreaming about. One of the worst dining experience while I was on vacation. Came here for a birthday dinner. We ordered a few apps. The fried clams tasted like mozzarella sticks, the hamachi was slimy. We got an order of the tempura scallops and they were ok. We ordered the raw scallops and they were absolutely disgusting! Super slimy and smelled fishy, I had a bite and spit it out. Lastly we got the salmon that was sooo dry you couldn't even cut it. The rest of the table had terrible dishes too. I don't know how they will stay in business with the price point and type of food they were serving. I would of rather gotten a slice of pizza and saved my $200. But we didn't have glasses and waited another 15 min for them...Brussels sprouts arrived right away before we got glasses for wine‍ and water. They were crispy and tasty In 15 minutes edamame was served and beans were overcooked. Our friends who ordered martini waited 40 minutes for it I'm not exaggerating. We tried to speak with a manager and asked why it takes so long. Also, restaurant didn't look busy. A manager didn't help at all. Finally food was served in hectic order. However, sea bass was good. Only open evenings Friday through Sunday. Ask to sit at the sushi bar! I loved the open kitchen behind the sushi bar. They have Wagu beef which was yummy but you get very little so expect that if you order it. This is a contemporary Japanese style. If you are feeling bored, go here! Kuro is fun and interesting, located inside the hardrock cafe. I know you are not going to believe me but my mushroom salad moved. I have a video but I can't attach it, and yes, I ate it! They do not pay attention to allergies. We were a party of 4, paying more than $400 for dinner (7 drinks, the rest food and apps) and I repeatedly stated a gluten allergy. I've been to some pretty amazing sushi spots including Morimotos in nyc and Kuro really did impress. I went alone and sat at the sushi bar for some entertainment. It was so much more. My waitress Crystal was so helpful and shared all her favorites and the items they are famous for. The chefs at the sushi bar were so nice and chatted with me. I ordered the seared salmon nigiri and the grilled avocado to start. First of all, the plates are works of art. The seared salmon nigiri was spot on. It had a nice charred flavor and an onion purée dot on top that complimented it nicely without overpowering the delicate fish. The grilled avocado blew my mind. It was so complex with toasted ginger Panko and little studs of wasabi cream topped with a single baby herb leaf. Then the chef said he was sending a little taste of something special for me. Nice touch bro! It was this chilled lobster with some kinda foam and charred greens. It was the best thing I had. Whatever that was, you must have it. read more
