The ramen was great for first couple bits until we realized it was kind of bland tasting and like basic instant ramen noodles? The roll was great not much complaints. The skewers are a hit or miss especially the lamb big miss (pls avoid) and chicken/beef is pretty good too but the pork belly was a huge hit. Honestly my high rating despite everything else comes solely from the pork belly skewers cooked to perfection. So this time when we came back, everything was perfect! The service was quick and friendly, and the food didn't take that long to come out. My favorite is definitely the Gyudon for it really is flavorfully hefty! Their skewers are also quite delicious, especially the pork belly and chives! Seeing One Piece, I have always wanted to try this place. I only tried their tonkatsu ramen and unfortunately I cannot say that I liked it enough to ever come back. The broth was pretty good. However, their choice of noodles is too thick for my liking (that's not where I'm deducting the points though). The meat was too dry and the egg was too salty. I couldn't exactly enjoy my meal. As for the food, while the sushi rolls range from good to solid, it's the yakitori that's pretty disappointing. For yakitori/skewers, there needs to be a good char and smokiness, but these had none of that. Mild in terms of flavor as well. Tried the lamb and beef, there's not enough fat around to make it a juicy yakitori too sadly. For the rolls, any of the crunchy rolls are good! Highly recommend this place to anyone who is around 86st and is trying to find a new place to eat. They have such a large selection of foods to chose from and they are all pretty good!! The decor and appearance of Kushi Izakaya outshine the food and service in my opinion. One Piece is awesome and the countless figures inside really add to the feeling of the restaurant. When you're walking by, you literally cannot miss this place. I've eaten from here two times -- the first was when it first opened and the second was a week ago, in March 2022. I don't remember much from my first time, except that there wasn't anything noteworthy and the ramen wasn't too good. I bought one of the lunch bento boxes recently and it was below my expectations. I ordered the eel lunch bento box over the phone and asked to substitute the California Roll for a Salmon Roll, and they were happy to accommodate. The price was like 10 bucks, which was pretty cheap too. When I picked up my order and brought it home, I was pretty disappointed. First of all, the two pieces of shumai that were advertised on the menu were nowhere to be found. Also, they didn't substitute my California Roll, which isn't the worst, but whatever. Now for what was actually in the box. 3 small pieces of eel, fried rice, California roll, green salad, and miso soup. The eel was surprisingly decent, but they were such small pieces that it was hard to enjoy it. The fried rice was your typical run-of-the-mill Chinese takeout fried rice. Average at best. The roll was a little under average since I immediately tasted the cucumber wasn't fresh. The miso soup tasted like water. The craziest thing was that the salad was really tasty. The ginger dressing was memorable and the salad was fresh. However, the salad being the best part of the meal didn't leave a good impression on me. I did a scheduled delivery, and not sure if they made my order first and then left it sitting around because most of the hot items were cold by the time they got to me. The fried items - the pork katsu and the soft shell crab were soggy by the time they came. And the salmon belly was room temperature. The katsu was also way overcooked and burnt, but the curry it came with was good. Very Indian/Madras-esque. The soft shell crab was a miss, tiny soggy boy for $6.75 apiece. My dad liked the beef teriyaki, and the sushi with cooked ingredients were alright. Got the dancing eel roll and the dragon roll. I could not find a single menu online that listed what each of the rolls had, so it's a crap shoot. Ended up getting two rolls that were very similar. Oh well. Decent, though their extremely green "wasabi" is sus. Anyway, it was a fine, if completely unmemorable meal. Won't be ordering from them again. read more

A super cute place with a variety of appetizers and dishes! I came with some friends and were seated immediately. First thing I noticed was the one piece theme inside! Super cute! The waitress was super nice and got us water right away. After looking at the menu, I noticed that you can order a variety of things from appetizers to ramen, sushi and even skewers! We got the Chicken karage, chicken/beef yakitori (skewers) and French fries as appetizers since we weren't that hungry. The chicken karage was really crispy and paired well with dipping sauce that came with it. It is a little spicy but not unbearably spicy! For the chicken yakitori, it was a little sweet and didn't taste as good as the beef. I recommend the beef yakitori cause it paired well with the spices. I would recommend eating it hot because when it gets cold the meat doesn't taste as good. The French fries were okay, didn't have much flavor but I used the karage sauce and it was much better! For our "entree" we got some sushi to share. I loved the spicy tempura kani roll! It was crispy and the spicy Mayo added the perfect flavor to the roll. I would definitely come back to try their ramen if I was a little more hungry! For 3 people, the total came out to be around $37, which is pretty decent. Here to update my review because after ordering again, I realized that my first positive experience with them was probably due to the fact that I was insanely hungry, lol. Now don't get me wrong, I still stand by a lot of what I said in my first review, HOWEVAAAAA I have now come to the conclusion that this spot is a late night backup. The first time I ordered I could've sworn I chose the Spicy Miso Ramen but when I was placing my order the second time around I noticed that what I actually chose was the regular miso. Sooooo, I figured I might as well try the Spicy since that was what I wanted in the first place. This isn't a restaurant that specializes in Ramen so you can't add any toppings or customize it. It comes as is. When my food arrived, I was actually pretty excited because I knew what to expect, or at least I thought I did. Boy was I wrong. While the regular miso surely wasn't the BEST I've ever had, it was still good. Just not as rich or complex as places that specialize in making broth. The spicy miso on the other hand was just not good. It tasted so strongly of tomato or some type of curry. It was weird and I didn't enjoy it at all. I mentioned in my last review I did not like their chashu and that remained the same. It's not cooked properly. Why is your chashu tough? Not cool. So as you can imagine, I was already expecting a pretty average meal and they didn't even meet those expectations because both the broth and meat (2/3 major components for Ramen) were seriously unappetizing. If I ever do order again, I will stick to the regular miso ramen. They should also seriously consider adding other meat options.
