Was it worth the wait?
We been wanting to try this restaurant chain for a while having seen it in different malls. Well today was the day. We found ourselves at the Venice Grand Canal Mall & decided ok.
It was a early Sunday afternoon & you guessed it - - there was a wait to get in. They do allow you to look at the menu & even place your order so you don't have to wait so long when you get your table. We waited outside the restaurant for about 20 minutes & it was hot. Thank God my wife ordered the mango shakes because when we sat down, a minute later the shakes came and the icy drink went down easy & refreshing.
The actual ordered three dishes:
LUMPIA PRITO: they were cooked well enough; the issue for us was that they were a little salty. The pepper was good, but the salt hurt its taste for us.
RELYENONG TALONG: it didn't quite look like the photo in the menu, but that was ok. The trend continued as it was just a bit too salty - - acceptable, but salty.
KUYA J FRIED CHICKEN: I know we're in the Philippines & that saltiness is the king here, but this was way too salty. Maybe someone more used too the saltiness of the Filipino diet would be able to enjoy these dishes better - - but if you have high blood pressure, please don't even try or double your HBP medication.
We did have room for dessert & we shared a KUYA J HALO-HALO ESPESYAL. For me, it was good and iced cold; I enjoyed it even though it was not really a traditional Halo-Halo. I think this is where it got my wife; she wanted a real traditional dessert & it wasn't really old-fashioned. Like I said, I thought it was tasty.
All in all, it was ok. Would we wait again? Probably not.
Enjoy. read more
