I've been using Southwick Animal Hospital now for almost 10 years. They had made some changes and…read moreat first I was concerned what would happen. But visit after visit bringing kitty after kitty I can say that things have not only stayed the same, but even improved. What has changed is that now, on top of bringing my pets to them, I now bring a very LOUD and active toddler along. The girls who work the front desk have gone so above and beyond the call of duty for me. When they help me if my hands are full, or trying to keep her occupied, or cleaning up spit up or helping me with the kitties. They are just amazing. I've just recently called them because one of the cats Floyd suddenly had trouble walking. I could hear in the background dogs barking and phone ringing, a bit of chaos, but the woman who answered the phone could also hear in my voice that I was extremly worried about Floyd. She calmy assured me that Dr. Scatino would see him and would do everything possible to make him feel better. I had her undivided attention and she made me feel like I was the only person that counted right at that moment. When I did bring in Floyd he was thoroughly checked out and was spoken to as if Floyd was human... constanly being petted and stroked and just shown love. The doctor explained to me the most affordable options I had which meant the world to me, especially since I have quite a few cats.I even asked if they could possibly keep my "Floyd" for a few hours so I could go to work and they didn't even hesitate. They are there for the best interest of me and my pet.

The doctors don't seem to know what's going on, medications aren't refilled on time, there's no accountability when things go wrong, and their office manager Courtney can't fix anything (or doesn't want to). Go somewhere else.

After being charged more…read morethan 1K for a battery of probably unnecessary tests, we were coldly told that our options were either to put the cat down or go forward with a procedure that would require hospitalization and likely run 6-8K. Since we were surprised, and since the cat didn't seem to be in any pain, we said we needed a day or two to consider what we were going to do. The vet had us sign something saying we refused treatment since she, again very coldly, said that the cat was likely to die at home. After a few days of baby food, Miralax, and care at home, the cat is completely back to normal and doing great. Had the vet actually had a kinder, more caring demeanor, we may have made the mistake of listening to her advice. Thankfully it was clear from our interaction that she has no business being in this profession and we ignored her and left. Advise you to seek care literally anywhere else.

Lousy experience and it was very unnecessary! Our 15 month old, 5lb yorkie goes there to remove…read moreONE baby tooth that they thought hadn't come out. The bid prior to surgery was shocking, $1200-1500!!! ( Keep in mind, this was for one baby tooth). I went against my better judgement and decided to go forward and have the one tooth removed (BIG mistake). When dropping her off, we repeatedly asked to be called if something changed. They called us and told us she was fine. The baby tooth had come out on its own! They had cleaned her teeth ( Really,?!?!, a 15 month old dog needs a cleaning?!?!?!?) When we picked her up, we were given a bill for over $750.00 and told, they had to put her under anesthesia ($ 250 of the the total bill) because she wouldn't let them look in her mouth........ In addition, we told them we did NOT ask for a dental cleaning. ($175.) This represented $425.00 of the $750 bill!! Despite trying to work things out with them, our conversation went on deaf ears and we paid decided to the bill and leave. Buyers beware! I will NEVER go back there again! If they had called as we asked, we would have told them to do NOTHING and picked her up. They were, unwilling to compromise and very over priced! Go somewhere else!
