I called them yesterday evening and the owner answered on his way to his daughter's graduation. I explained we had no water coming to the house and there was a code on our pump house that said "replace controller". He explained the cost if he had to come out and replace it and even said he would come out after his daughter graduation, but wanted to walk me through some steps to see if that was actually needed. We had the need for an emergency well pump replacement on a Saturday three weeks ago. I called, they were closed but he came by to access it, said they could replace it on Monday it went great! We came back from a week in Texas last week to find our old water tank had an irreparable hole. I called on Friday, he came by this past Saturday said he could do it today, Thursday, while we were gone camping this week. He did it today it went perfect! Highly recommend very professional. Honestly, I just feel grateful. Dan fit me into a busy day so I could get water again. He was courteous on the phone, despite my having called him in the middle of the job, and even tried to walk me through fixing it myself on the phone so I wouldn't be charged for a service visit. In the end, his charge for the service call was cheaper than a couple of other places I had called before finding him, and he was nicer, more professional, and honest. I had water again in no time, and he took a look at my other well on the property (which it turned out he himself had drilled about 30 years ago) to run some tests and see what it would take to get it up and running again. These folks are terrific. We live on a half acre here in Hayward. The well water is used for keeping things green, our several fruit trees, the pond, etc. A couple of months back "the well ran dry", so to speak. We found & worked with Dan (owner & Dad of Eric). Initially he came over and diagnosed the problem. WOW---his experience was so invaluable. Through some Dan "magic" he got us up & running as a temporary fix. About a week later he installed a new/better tank (existing was about 20 years old), a new (better) pressure gauge and did some fine tuning to maximize efficiency, and educated us on well "stuff" (not our forte). Price was mid-range...no concern at all. I'd checked in w/a friend in Fresno (this fellow knows a whole lot about wells). VERY happy with overall service, really paying attention to our specific situation, etc. Meant to post a review then. Now---for the second part of the story: Last week---something happened to the electrical that feeds the well. Oh heck. No water, no nothing. Called Dan explained that we thought it might be something electrical (not that we know about that stuff either), but not sure. Oh boy! He was here in 2 days along with appropriate equipment to diagnose and repair our electrical situation. It was the external outlet that had "fried"...likely because we'd accidentally let sprinkler water come into direct contact with the outlet. Lesson learned. He even put a flat metal plate over the outlet to prevent the problem in the future. This may be way more detail than you might be needing and/or interested in. I have a house that has a well. A jet pump well, to be exact. It usually just chugs along and waters the plants, but every so often it stops working. Eric Kvilhaug is my hero this week! We were told we needed a new well by a reputable company. I called around for a second opinion at the insistance of a good friend. The second opinion saved us the cost, stress and uncertainty of drilling a new well. Kvilhaug was able to easily break through the blockage and insert new casing and a new pump for a fraction of the cost of a new well. I moved into a home a few years ago with a well that dates back to the late 1800s. I had no idea of the history the well let alone what kind of pump or when it was installed. The well pump failed completely one day so I asked some neighbors for a recommendation. Kvilhaug Drilling & Pump was at the top of the list. Dan came out, took a look at the existing equipment, made a few measurements, took that back to Eric who send me a proposal a week or so later. I approved the proposal and they came out to perform the work a few days later. When they pulled the old pump out, sure enough there were some surprises that required some extra work. They took care of everything in one day and did not charge me for any of the extra work. I could not be happier with the professional job they did for me. I was so pleased that I contracted them again to replace my separate booster pump system that moved the well water from a storage tank up the hill. Again, this job was completed in a single day for the exact price they estimated. The booster pump system was all above ground so it was easy to see the dramatic difference between my old system and what Kvilhaug put in. All these 1 star reviews are from people who never had Kvilhaug do any actual work for them. Trust the people who actually used Kvilhaug Drilling & Pump. These guys are the best. read more

Dan is very good, but Eric is very aggressive and not polite, sorta a regent, had there sticker from 13 years ago when Dan was running it and did patch on pump, it lasted 13 years, then just needed a part replaced, per a agreement with Dan, Eric arrives and is a know it all, and wants to make this little 20' Well his vacation package $1300.00 and starts thinking he knows what new owners are expecting, and figure everything, note removed sticker, and will just leave as is. Also wanted to install a commercial grade pump, on a small track home Well for a sprinkler, and remove a Sears home unit "a little over kill????? read more

This is a great company. They were recommended to me when our pump for the well at the SPCA of Solano County went out. We were dealing with an emergency situation with all the animals to take care of. They came out diagnosed the problem and told me what they needed to do to fix it and then took care of it. My one star review is not based on Kvilhaug's actual service, but rather on the fact that I have been trying to reach them by phone for the last 3 weeks and have not had a single one of my calls returned. I have left numerous (polite) voicemails yet no one has had the courtesy to respond. Kvilhaug comes recommended by two friends so I really don't know what their issue is with returning calls. I would give him zero if I could. My husband called for an appointment and he never called back. Showed up today and barked at me that he was here for the pump. I said "oh, my husband expected a call to make an appointment" He then barked again "I'm busy". Hiss phone rang and he walked away from my front door and barked at the person to hold on; turned to me and barked "well do you want me to look at the pump or not". I replied :"why are you being so rude?" he barked back "I'm looking at it for free!", then he said "never mind" and stormed off. To which I replied "what an A**" and slammed the front door. So glad that I called them! Our home only has well water, we are not hooked up to city water so when there is a problem it's a big one. I was so happy that they were able to make an appointment quickly and showed up on time. Seems silly that showing up on time is great service but really no one seems to do that anymore. Our system was so old that he had never worked on this type of pump (he has been working on well pumps for over 30yrs so you know it was an old pump!) He got on the phone with a supplier and tried to find parts that would work without having to replace everything. The parts were ordered and he came back the next day for the repair. . It was great that once the pump was working properly, he showed me how to maintain the system and some troubleshooting tips in case I had any problems. I knew next to nothing about my well system and now have a good working knowledge thanks to Kvilhaug!
