Service: New toilet Installation Marc was a kind person and professional. I think he did a fabulous job on the install. My review is more so regarding the overall experience of 2 different scenarios with the company. Me and my family have been a client for years. Service Pros was my go to company of choice and I had an excellent experience with Juan. However, my experience after was not one I would like to experience again. 1) The plumber that came prior to March on 10/14 asked if I was the homeowner (I would think after being a client for many years, this was not a question. 2) I was quoted a "what I feel like" was a very high price for install of a new toilet and replacement (faucet) in my upstairs bathroom. First quote was 1,700 and then he later said the job could be done for 1189.00. I declined to go with replacement of the faucet and said I would just get a new toilet myself for install. 3) I called to ask for a quote to install my new toilet and was told it would be 689.00 4) When Marc arrived (very kind and professional), he had a new toilet with him which leads me to believe that the 689 was inclusive of the new toilet he brought with him. 5) When I asked if the cost to install the toilet I purchased from Lowes would still be 689.00 he said yes. 6) I called the office to ask and stated the price should not be the same as it clearly included a new toilet that I did not purchase. I purchased my own from Lowes. 7) The lady said she would have the plumber call the supervisor to ask what was the cost just for labor. 8) After the work was done, I asked what was the cost for labor and I was told since I had a premium toilet the install would be $589 for installation. :-( Only 100 bucks off the initial costs which tells me that the toilet bought by service pros was only 100 or less than or they were making up numbers. I still never got the cost for just labor. I recently retired from Corp America after 26 years and do not have the funds to waste or to be overcharged, especially being I have been a customer for years. I will no longer be a customer of Service Pros. My suggestions is, if you do use them - ask for Juan! read more

Service Pro came to our home today due to a clogged main line. When I spoke with the office I was told that the estimate would be free. When the service person arrived he said the charge was $431. He said he couldn't give a quote without running a camera down and couldn't with a backed up drain and yet the office knew that the drain was backed up. I had a major plumbing issue with a waste water pipe in my house. It was below my foundation in my living room and because the foundation is post tension, I couldn't find anyone who wanted to do the repair. Service Pros just completed the job. I was kept informed of all steps and cost. When it was discovered the builders took a short cut and put too narrow of a pipe to the street, they fixed that as well, so that the repair was possible to do trench-less. I was impressed with the work ethic. They cleaned up everything and reattached a small piece of brick façade the hose knocked off. They even vacuumed off the turf where some dirt ended up. They didn't even complain with my curiosity of the work and that I often took pictures of the process. I highly recommend. read more

I call them second time in a week, second time they came price was super expensive on the border of rip-off, he first charge me 375$ to snake a sink, then while he did the work he broke the P trap the pipe under the sink, he came to me and tell me I will do that for $179, well I said if you think it's fair charge me what you think it's fair, he told me I am On hourly I don't care I am trying to help you, me and everyone who read this review know he is on % and try to charge me super high price. I will not call them again they lost good client by try take advantage of my good faith and just be nice person. The guy who came is a nice and did try to fix but if you broke it don't try to charge me brother, if there is mistake you did and you don't want to pay for it yourself come to be be honest I'll lay whatever it take to make sure your job is safe and you good. Things happen when people work and try fix sometime something else broke while doing this, it's fine... does the client needs to pay for this? Overall I do like the person who came, but simple sink snake became to be $375 plus $179. That's a lot of money for simple snake run, the person who was here keep telling me his boss give him the price and that he can't change anything, I didn't argue I said do what you think it's fair and that's it. I appreciate hard working people, when you try rip off people by over charge them it's just not good karma. I have to say first visit when he came was also expensive but they came next day and he was nice and kind. Second time he was nice and kind but his boss from the other line is not so kind nice or fair to his repeat clients. Update: so he came back after he had to run and get the parts that he broke, "it happens he had to run machine in the pipes" I don't blame him so it's clear. So he did install cheap pipes I had very durable pipes that he broke, he came back with tiny pipe look very cheap materials I will have someone come back and replace it with the hood stuff. After I wrote the review the office reach out, I was little upset so I didn't really wanted to talk over phone. They told me they instruct the tech not to charge me the $179 dollars that they shouldn't in first place by the way. Anyways I promise them I'll add it to the review, I have to say the tech who was here is nice, he only did why his boss said over the phone. And for the boss I have to say, I called you twice this week! And I would call again if you just be honest and fair to your clients. I only give two stars because the person who was here was kind when he try to hassle me. Tenants complained about having no hot water. Service Pros was called to come out and look into things. Their plumber with 24 years of experience spent a good 2-3 hours looking into the hot water heater issue and couldn't trouble shoot the system so he called manufacturer. Not once did he check to see if there was any gas coming to the unit. It was recommended to us that we purchase a new water heater and we were quoted close to $5K after charging us $498 to come out. They ordered one over night and I asked them the next morning not to install it and to look into other possibilities as to why it's not working prior to installing a new one. Their technician went out back and told us that one of 3 gas lines going out to our bbq, pool equipment or firebowls had a gas leak and therefore our water heater is not working and that it would cost close to $1000 to identify which pipe was leaking. Something didn't seem right to me. First he charges us $498.00, then he wanted to put in a $5K water heater and replace a unit that didn't need to get replaced on now he wants to charge us $1000 to identify where the leak was. I told him that I was disappointed with his level of expertise and not knowing how to do his job. I asked him why he was so quick to order a new water heater without checking the gas source to see if there's gas getting to the unit. Long story short, we sent him on his way and said thanks, but no thanks. We called PG&E to come and identify where the leak was at.......which cost us $0. Turns out we didn't have a leak and the regulator was bad which was part of the PG&E equipment. Regulator was also replaced for free and our water heater works just fine. We were so upset we called his supervisor, Jason to see if he would give us half of the $498.00 back since his technician didn't do a thing to get to the roots of the problem and he wouldn't. He started to raise his voice at me and my husband and wouldn't meet us half way. We told him that his technician mislead us not once but twice and didn't identify the problem correctly. Consumers, please be aware of this company and their scams. They have no idea what the hell they are doing. Save yourselves a pretty penny and go elsewhere. read more

I had a non emergency leak happen at night. I contacted SPP and was able to book an appointment for the following morning. I was given a 2hr window. I was called and given a heads up when the plumber was on their way. They arrived on time within the appointment window. They were able to to fix my problem with parts in their truck. They did a great job following up to confirm the meeting and then letting us know that the plumber (Eddie) was on the way. Eddie did a great job, evaluated the problem... gave us an estimate for price and the time it might take to make the repair - and potential issues we might run into that would cause the estimate to change. He was able to complete the job in the estimated time - which was great as we had people coming to the house that evening for Halloween. Eddie mentioned that they don't do a lot of work in the Moraga area... not sure why, but I would highly recommend calling them if you need plumbing / service work. The technician was on time and checked the slow leak from my instant hot/cold water dispenser by the kitchen sink and said it was so slow that it was normal and nothing needed to be done. I also asked about installing a recirculating pump so our shower would get hot water faster as it's quite a distance to the hot water heater. What I didn't realize was that the temperature on the hot water wasn't turned up enough and he said that was all it needed. I appreciate his honesty and not trying to fix or sell me something but would have appreciated being told there was a $289 diagnostic fee to come out. He was only here about 10 minutes. read more

My property manager uses Service Pros to fix plumbing in our Walnut Creek rental house. I find that they pad their costs. They quoted over $600 to do a simple faucet replacement. Even at $100/hr there's just no way to get to that price. I've had other examples where the recommendation and cost were much higher than they should be. Perhaps they only do this on 'commercial' properties because they think no one is looking but as the property owner I'm not impressed and would not recommend them. I've had a vibrating noise coming from my toilet for months. It's been driving me nuts, and I decided to try and fix it myself by installing a new fill valve and flapper. Come 8PM last night, after 3 hours of effort and 2 trips to the hardware store for additional parts (I discovered leaks in the hoses and angle valve), I realized the job was beyond my skill level and emotional bandwidth. I had to shut off all water to the house after the leak I exposed wouldn't stop no matter how much I tightened the the valve coming from the wall. I called Service Pros Plumbers at 8:30PM, and got a text from Ana the next morning. I told her I wanted to give it one last try on my own before having her, or one of their staff, come out. Ana asked me to describe the problem and to text her photos of the mess I created. She then gave me fantastic help and advice - explaining what I needed to do - and some much needed encouragement as a bonus. Well, thanks to her (and another trip to the hardware store), I FIXED its on my own. New hoses needed, new angle valve, new fill valve, new flapper. So disappointing, even your plumber who did the estimate acknowledged this job was a simple fix, yet he was forced to quote me $409 to fix a simple cracked 2" kitchen drain. Told them I appreciated the call. Around 4:00 they called to verify my address. Turns out they had an address in Oakley (I live in Martinez). The guy said there was no way they could come today because they were now closed and I would have to wait until Monday. He seemed concerned about whose fault it was that he had the wrong address.
