I have been going to lunch once a week to a different place and as of now I am at close to 200 places so far. Nothing is BETTER than the Kwik Chek. Fried Rice, Bi Bim Bop, Sandwiches etc.. everything they have is better than other places. It is setup in an old convenience store which is kinda cool in a way. I decided to step out the box a little and try something new. New city, new food why the heck not!? I'm so glad I took a chance on this place. I had the Bi Bim Bop with beef which was delicious! Lil spicy but I really liked it. The portion was just enough which I prefer. Don't get me wrong I'm big on leftovers but sometimes it's nice to order, eat, finish and just be satisfied. Parking is not great but the food is worth it so you'll figure it out. Wish I could take this place home with me so I could explore the menu more. A good find for the foodies. I had the Bi Bim Bap and was delicious. This is coming from a former Yankee who made frequent visit to Korean Town in NYC. Maybe it would have been a better experience if we had arrived earlier than ten minutes before closing, but I felt completely ripped off. This was our very first visit and I had finally talked my husband into trying it out. The food tasted great, but there wasn't enough of it to justify the cost. The only prices marked are on the sandwiches, so stay away from the drinks, candy and side items because they are apparently airport prices. We could have gone to Fino's, Lenny's or the Kwik Shop Grill and gotten twice as much food for what we paid. To add insult to injury, the receipt has a tip section. So on top of the over-priced everything, we are expected to tip people for making the food? Yeah, my husband won't be trusting me to pick out new places to eat any time soon. read more

Curious, I went in to try their "korean" food, I was never a fan of bibimbap, so I didn't order it. Instead, I ordered the korean dumplings, Mandu, that come in Veggi or Beef. Kwik Check has fabulous sandwiches and interesting sides. I also love their bi bim bop in the sizzling lava bowl. As a result of my love for their sandwiches and bi bim bop, along with a recommendation from Best Memphis Burger, I decided to try their Bi Bim Bop burger. It did not disappoint. This is one of my favorite places, let me tell you why. The food is great, the staff are friendly, the service is slow, and the focus is on the food rather than the look and feel of your experience. It is laid back, enjoyable, and very Memphis. If you sit at the counter along the windows there can be good people watching. Definitely get the BiBimBop or the BiBimBop burger, amazing. Everything else is still pretty good, but if you want the best go for that. They have great grab and go options if you are in a hurry, you can grab deviled eggs, pasta salad, kimchi, cake, or baklava among other things. You grab your drink out of the coolers, beer included. Good food, simple atmosphere, chill experience. Also their instagram account is pretty funny and random if you want a good laugh. read more

If you are a millennial, or a tourist this is your place to visit. My wife had the bi bim map, which honestly was way to hot of a dish for summer time. I got a half muffuletta. I am pretty sure she charged me for a full order. Out total order was 2 beers, 1 ginger ale, bi bim map with beef, 1/2 muffuletta (mild), 1 chips, 1 seaweed salad, total came to $30. Kwik Check deserves 5 stars for, specifically, two dishes: Bibimbap and the Ninja sandwich. As a Korean, I have had countless different bibimbap dishes, and I can safely say that Kwik Check's is THE BEST I have ever eaten, easily beating out Atlanta's best as well as multiple home cooked ones made by friends and family who truly know how to make Korean food. The reasons for this are fairly simple: first, they use a real stone bowl in the traditional manner, creating a somewhat toasted rice taste and adding some crunch. Secondly, they have the proportions and types of the vegetables/meat in the dish down to an exact science. Thirdly, they use exactly the right amount, spicyness, and sweetness of the red pepper sauce, which is called gochujang. Although these elements may seem simple enough, I can tell you that finding the exact balance and combination of these things is quite difficult, and after having this dish at Kwik Check at least 15 times in the past couple of years, it is consistently made the same way, every time. The Ninja sandwich is not Korean at all, however. It is simply a phenomenal sandwich. The bread, which is served toasted, and cheese used in the sandwich are excellent, and the combination with the sprouts, green peppers, and light soy/teriyaki glaze create unique, satisfying flavors that complement each other. Whether you are visiting or you live in the area, you really must try these 2 items. Ignore the fact that the restaurant is located in a dumpy, converted old convenience store, and just go for the food. You will not regret it! TLDR: Total dive but the bibimbap and ninja sandwich are absolutely phenomenal. read more

It looks a little sketchy from the outside, like an old gas station, and a little more sketchy inside. But walk to the deli counter and order. I used to eat here frequently. Today I remember why I stopped going. While the food is good the attitude of the people running the place and working here was especially bad today! Not a thanks or a hi or anything. I was met with literally "what do you want?" After I ordered and went to pay the couple in front of me were paying with a credit card like I intended to but the phone line was down or something. I was slightly disappointed other he checking out method. The food itself wasn't too bad but there was a lot left to be desired when it came to my Korean noodle soup. My soup had large chunks of half cooked unions that were hard towards the middle. Though the place wasn't too packed, the sandwich my mom's friend ordered before wasn't delivered to her until several people got theirs who ordered after us - not to mention her sandwich was just left sitting there after it was made. This is the among the best food in Memphis. This is also a great place for vegetarians because they are willing to replace anything with meat with tofu. Though, my friends who love meat love this restaraunt too (they love the be bim burger). Personally, The kimchi burrito is addictive. My record number of visits is 8 in a week and my record number of burritos is 3 in a day. (I love this place.) the Bi Bim bop is also out of this world. It's on choose 901's Memphis eats bucket list, and it absolutely deserves its spot. The staff is friendly and helpful. They recognize me and I know them. :) the place is very laid back and chill. You walk up to the counter to order, and you can grab a drink or appetizer out of the fridge and then sit down. They'll bring you your food and you go up to the counter to pay. The restaurant is not at all fancy inside, but it's not unpleasant. It's just really laid back and I feel comfortable there no even if I'm in sweats or want to sit at the counter by the window and read a book.
