Was overcharged during initial ring up. Pointed it out and she corrected it. Ordered chicken kabob sandwich. It was beyond disgusting. Slimy tiny pieces of chicken and grisel. Reminded u of raw chicken but really awful taste and chewy. Sauce tasted rank and tomatoes were mushy. Burned fried pita like tortilla shell surrounding it. Husband ordered greek salad. Dressing was some kind of creamy feta mix. Not greek dressing. Tasted like cheap Italian mix. Awful. No real lettuce, just tiny shreds here and there. Lots of old sliced manzanilla olives (NO Greek olives at all) that were icky tasting. No onions. Some feta. Overall tasted horrid. We threw out 80% of this meal as it was it was inedible. At the speech and hearing today for some meetings. My professor graciously offered to buy us lunch from his go to place. We made our selections and went off to the clinic until he texts that he's back with the food. I'm not typically a lunch person so I wasn't very hungry. On the elevator up to his lab I'm asking my colleague, "wow! Is that our food i smell on the elevator?!" (We have masks on and are traveling to the 4th floor) we step off the elevator and I swear it felt like the smell of the food was leading us to it like it does on cartoons. I may have been floating idk. It was delicious! Again, i wasn't even initially hungry but the smell had my stomach grumbling. I devoured the whole thing and it tasted just as good as it smells. I was a little bit curious on who was going to get my 500th review. I'm actually a bit behind on my reviews right now, so I get to pick and choose rather than giving it my naturally occurring 500th. Plus Yelp has removed so many reviews by now anyway, that I've lost count. And now that yelp won't let you edit anymore, and an update is considered to be another review, it is way off count anyway. But I don't mind giving my 500th to the Castle because I want it to be a positive review. Anyway, small hole in the wall. Shaky neighborhood in good old crime ridden Memphis. Parking lot was full. Wasn't easy to park. Counter order. I'll just cut to the chase. That gyro was the best I've ever had and I don't like Mediterranean food. Nobody ever makes their own gyro lamb meat. They just buy the cone from a wholesaler who gets it from a factory. I think the difference here was that the cooks had added seasoning to the meat and cooked it on the flat top. It was so freaking good. Can't wait to try it again! read more

We called ahead to do some take away after picking up kid from high school. For a family of 4 ( which includes 2 teenagers) we ordered 2 veggie deals and 1 falafel plate. We added a side order of tzatzki to go with it all because let's face it, we love tzatzki. The salads come with side dressings if tzatzki and tahini sauce but the salad also came with a light herby dressing that was so good we didn't even use the other dressings. The baba ganoush has a great smoky flavor. Thankfully we pass this place 4 times a day due to drop off/pick up of school so we will absolutely be eating here again and that most likely soon. I'd add pictures except we scarfed this down so fast it'd just be pictures of empty plates smeared with various sauces. read more

I decided on a chicken gyro combo and an order of falafel. They truly do have THE BEST gyros in Memphis. We were sitting around the office looking for somewhere new to try for lunch and this place popped up in our searches. I got a gyro sandwich combo and it was amazing. This is probably the best gyro I've had in Memphis. I really wish I'd learned about this place sooner. The gyro meat is cooked on the traditional spindle and then seared on the grill right before being served. It really brings out the flavors of the meat. We went around lunch time and it was packed. There are only a few tables inside, and a couple outside under umbrellas. We were able to find a place at a counter top to sit and eat our gyro's, but I would recommend getting there early if you want to eat in. The restaurant is very clean inside; even during the busy lunch hour, it was spotless. I can't wait to go back and try something else. If your a fan of Mediterranean food, give this place a shot, it's well worth it. read more

I walked into a small dining area with a good sizes kitchen in the back. Everything was nice and clean. I was with two little ones so I ordered a gyro for myself and a hamburger for the little ones to split with baclava for dessert. The burger was good sized, definitely enough for a 3 & 6 year old to share. I stole a bite and it was quite good. My gyro was delicious. Fantastic but tiny restaurant. The food served here is always fresh and hot... I mean hot -- I burned my hand once eating a gyro right after they gave it to me. I have been here over a dozen times, and I am always satisfied after I leave. Not only are their meals a great value, but they are also delicious. There are other locations where you can get a gyro in Memphis, but, in my opinion, I like this one the best. Their lamb is always good, and every meal has been of the same caliber of quality. The portions are very substantial, and one gyro with fries and drink is more than enough. They do charge for drink refills,so be aware of that. The Castle platter is enormous and way too much meat for one person, so don't get it if dining alone. The restaurant itself is tiny. It definitely cannot accommodate a party of people greater than 5 or 6. They have a few outdoor tables, but why would anyone want to sit outside during a Memphis summer or winter. Be prepared to take your food to go. The owners keep the dining area clean, and you are responsible for busing your own trash. Castle is an excellent place to have a good meal at a great price. You will feel you have gotten your money's worth at the end. The service is excellent despite being a fast food-type restaurant, and the dining area is immaculate. The only item on their menu that I have had that is a little disappointing is the Philly Cheese sandwich, but overall they have an impressive business that I hope continues to serve Memphis for a long time. read more

From what I read on Yelp, I was really expecting this place to blow me away with fantastic falafel but I was sorely disappointed. I ordered a falafel combo with fries and it was "meh" at best. The fries were probably better than the sandwich, and that's just miserable. I was still hungry and I wanted to stop eating. I prefer to be stuffed and still want to continue to eat because the food is so good. This was a trainwreck. The falafel was dry. We're not talking like mild dryness either. This thing was like eating sand (complete with the grainy texture.) It was wrapped in some sort of tortilla instead of a traditional pita (yuck) and there was something in there that I couldn't figure out--is it a pickle, or a really long roasted pepper? Either way, it didn't belong there. It also had tomatoes, lettuce, and cilantro. Wtf is cilantro doing in my falafel? Where is the feta? The cucumber? At least some hummus! I don't even like hummus but that would've been preferable to barren dryness. I had to ask for tzatziki and then spread it on each bite to get it down. The tzatziki was also disappointing. It was somewhat bland. The whole thing was rather bland, except for the kick of garlic at the end. The falafel had no depth at all. It was such a disappointment. Was it worth the 7.08 I paid for it? Probably, given the amount of food. Will I ever go there again? No. I don't know what everyone else is talking about. The service is good, but that's the only thing complementary I have to say about the whole place. read more

This place has the best hummus in town! I have tried, most is the other restaurants, Flames, (LOVE THEIR THICK PITA BREAD THOUGH), Casablanca, love them too, but Castle has my favorite hummus. I love it and often just get an order of hummus-like 2 times a week usually. Their portions are much better than any in town, also. LOVE THE OWNERS! They are so nice and friendly! Oh and the side salad, and Greek salad is awesome too. And the Phillycheese steak, etc. The pita bread differs, sometimes it's thick and lately it's been thin. Either way, doesn't matter since I usually skip it and eat it with veggies anyway. Just absolutely love this place! The neighborhood is changing for the better I believe. read more
