It was time for an annual car inspection and we came in on a weekday morning. We were immediately greeted when we pulled in and was told that there were 3 cars ahead of us and it would probably take 45 minutes. We sat in the waiting area, which was clean and it didn't smell bad. The TV on the other hand, was set to an obnoxious channel. Our car inspection was taken care of and the service techs were very professional. They didn't try to upsell you on anything, so that was great! I went there to get my oil changed and they put the wrong amount of oil in. They put in oil for a four-cylinder. I have a six cylinder I took it back. It was low almost 2 quarts so I decided that I just re-change the whole thing and they charge me full price so I paid double The manager wouldn't give me a break so I'll never go back. You can't believe how terrible this shop is! I went in to get two brake rotors replaced and waited five hours. When I got home, I realized they had only replaced one but still charged me for both. I had to go all the way back, and when I did, there was no explanation and no apology -- the front desk guy just said he didn't know anything and told me to speak directly to the mechanics. The mechanics simply replaced the second rotor like they knew they had messed up and expected me to come back. read more

Showed up with older vehicle with "misfire cylinder" issue. Told by one of the employees that it's probably spark plugs and it will cost me less if I buy my parts. Since I didn't know what exactly spark plug wires my vehicle used I just got the plugs. When I left the vehicle the mechanic was not on the spot. 2 hours later I've been called and notified that car is ready. $256 The moment I left check engine start blinking again - same issue. After unpleasant conversation with mechanic over the phone he said that he will charge me 1 hour next day to change the wires. Next day he said that I was supposed to bring my own parts. No warranty. Another $260 (labor plus parts). Blinking light the moment I left the shop. I'm ready to spend money of fixing a car. But the car isn't fixed. I'd agree on partial labor refund - the job is done but no results. Seems fair. But doesn't seem like they care. read more

I wanna compliment Mr Tyson who is the manager of this Kwik Kar. There was a problem on a Carfax report with a basic mileage error. We discovered that the car with the mileage discrepancy was the one I gave to my granddaughter who at the time was trying to sell the car. CARfax report made the potential buyer nervous thinking that we had rollback the odometer (which is no longer possible in the digital age) Mr. Tyson was very knowledgeable and was very helpful in cleaning up the discrepancy which basically inadvertently added mileage for my truck to the jeep that I gave my granddaughter. It took us a while to figure out what was going on but we figured out what was going on in the database and the manager corrected the discrepancy in the vin number for my truck. He also offered to talk to the prospective buyer and let him know that it was not deception but an error which he corrected and made note of. All this while his day was very busy. Thanks to him it should make it easy to get the prospective buyers to understand. I have been taking all my vehicles to this Kwik Kar location for a number of years and the staff there have always been polite courteous, and helpful. Highly recommended! read more

Cross sell / up sell -- I understand. This was insane. A 100% good air filter (it's white -- no dirt) and I'm told I need to replace. Some mythical carbon build up which really pissed me off in that the tech removed screws off the engine cover. I just had the car serviced by Galveston Auto Professionals. Kwik Kar now Kompletely sucks. Last trip to these losers. It's why my wife won't go to any auto service place. Shame on you Kwik Kar. Reasonable priced, fast service, friendly people. My only gripe is they are horrible as trying to scam you into buying additional goods and services you don't need. I am fanatical about oil changes. They tried to tell me my oil was mud and tried to sell me an $80 engine flush. They tried to sell a guy I was talking to a PCV Valve when he had just recently changed it himself. They charged me $114 for a barking brake adjustment that should not have been more than $65. No wonder there is no wait here. Ridiculous. After going to RT Tire for an inspection and being told that my "tire wouldn't pass" (convenient since I'm at a tire store!), I headed over here. The gentleman that performed my inspection went over the various services I likely need to get done due to the mileage of my car. He merely recommended these and was not salesy about it. I've been coming here for awhile, and have always been pleased, but today was different. I felt pressured to have my engine flushed because I had gone 3,000 miles over the recommended oil change time. That was money I didn't have to spend, but the guy told me that my oil was burned and that it would destroy my engine if I left without fixing it. Additionally, there was a lot of yelling (angry screaming and cussing) and throwing things in the bays at one point between employees. All of the customers were uncomfortable. Then, as I'm checking out, the guy working the register starts to get on to the guy that brought my keys. He angrily told him to do something and used the F word TWICE in front of me. I don't have an issue with the word normally, but it was super unprofessional and made me feel awkward. I won't be going back. Not completely because of bad service, but because of the behavior of the employees. read more

Have been here twice, for a state inspection and then an oil change on a later visit. The state inspection was handled quickly and efficiently even on a busy day. I came in for an oil change 15 minutes before closing and asked the owner (manager?) for advice on an oil flush and type of oil to use. He was very knowledgeable and provided what I thought was good advice. Very willing to explain things even though they were about to close. They even had to special-order a filter for my Mini Cooper and still finished the oil change very quickly. I'll be back with my other vehicles. read more

My wife took her care for a simple oil change on her 2011 Lexus rx350, put in synthetic oil which is not required and charged her $95.00. We've changed oil in this vehicle usually at the dealership and cost is $35.00.... My friend went here last month for and inspection and they told her 1 1/2 hour wait. They only had one car in the shop and no others outside. She asked the girl why it would take so long she said she didnt know that is just what the guys told her. I didn't think any thing of it, I go here for my oil changes etc so I stopped in today to get an inspection. I was told it would be 45 minutes. They had one car they were doing an oil change on and it was the only car there. I get my oil changed there all the time it does not take 45 minutes!! They are just lazy, and don't want to do inspections because they don't get but 5 dollars a piece for them. I know this because my husband does them in Webster. (No I had no desire to drive from Galveston to Webster). Anyway if you dont want to do them then don't . But don't advertise it and then lie to your customers. Wish i could give a 0. Put a pansaver in my car without asking. When i took it back after no one. Would change my oil because the put that thing in there they said they did it to help me because the pan was no good. Mechanic wanted six hundred to replace oil pan. So i took out the pan saver whitch took an hour there not ment to come out. Put a reagular plug right in. So they probly lost my plug then just threw that thing in. I read online that they have done this before. The mechanic i talk to about it even knew which place did it before i told him. Went back again asked for a refund for all the work i had to do because of them. Manager was rude said they were doing me the favor thanks by the way.
