I have visited this auto repair facility more times than I can count. It appears there have been changes. Service quality has changed ( workmanship). I had an episode where I had my tire sensors replace on one rear tire and within three months I got a message on the screen stating more issues. Took it in to repair and I'll be darn the same one was replaced....again. Don't these things have mileage warranties- I had not driven more than 50 miles on it. When I questioned it I was told that the left was replaced and now, it was the right. I went back and checked my receipts and I thought that left and left meant the left side and not one was left and the other was right. I have gone in for a few more things and I have noticed that prices have tripled. I thought it was me but, I checked with receipts from last year- I'll be...my eyes are not decieving me. My wife and I were in Galveston for her birthday on a weekend getaway. We were in a jeep which has no doors when her seatbelt locked up and she was unable to put it on. It was our last day in Galveston and we needed to head home, which is almost a 2 hour drive. Found J & C online and stopped in to ask for assistance. We y old Juan our situation and he said to leave it with him and he would give it a look and see if he can get us fixed and on our way. Even offered to give us a ride wherever we wanted in Galveston while we waited. We declined since he is very close to the beach and we walked to the beach to take stroll. In somewhere around an hour or less he called and said it was ready. We told him we would walk back and he said no, he would pick us up, which he did. His shop had vehicles in it, meaning he had plenty of work, but he took the time to help us when we were in a bind. A very good man running a very good shop. He took care of us when we were in a bind and took care of us financially. More than than fair. I would absolutely use him for my normal mechanic work if I lived in Galveston. Highly recommended. I was visiting Galveston on vacation when my drive belt started making noise. I didn't have my tools with me so I researched auto repair shops on the island. It was immediately obvious that J and C had the best reviews. I called and spoke to the owner Juan. He was courteous and to the point. I took the truck in the next morning. Juan called around 2pm and explained that the new belt that I had replaced the month before appeared to be stretched a little. It was making the screeching noise. He educated me about the brand that I bought was not the best from his experience. He had already replaced the belt with a better brand that was working fine. He said that he was going to run an errand to give it a final test and it would be ready at 4pm. The entire experience was positive. Juan listened to my original statements that included what parts had been recently replaced. His wrap up phone call was informative and made sense. Juan made what could have been a difficult vacation story into pleasant business transaction. I am grateful to Juan and his team. read more

If J&C were in my town, five hundred miles away, they would be my go-to. We broke down on Christmas Eve at our hotel in Galveston. Went to Autozone for the part and figured I could fix it if I had to but they suggested J&C, right down the road, as Juan was open for another two hours. Juan recommend a towing company and they were able to get the car back on the road with a temporary fix. I drove it J&C and within two hours they had it fixed. Crisis averted and we had a great holiday. This particular car has nearly 300,000 miles on it and repairs are a part of day-to-day life. J&C was one of the cleanest and most organised garages I've been in. Looking at the negative comments I have to say the prices seem pretty similar to what I pay at my local garage and I'm very happy with my local. Thanks Juan! read more

Took my car in for a hub replacement, brake check, and tire rotation. When we went to pick up my car, they had left a lug nut off. How the hell do you leave a lug nut off? When we pointed it out to management, we were told they would not replace it. We were told if we went and bought one they would put it on for us. I can put a lug nut on by myself thanks. read more

Juan and his crew brought my truck back from the dead after I managed to drive into a huge hole at San Luis Pass. (I will never try to cross standing water again without walking it first.) A local recommended this shop so that's where I towed it. When the tow truck dropped me off at J&C, it was about closing time, but Juan told me to take my time getting all my gear out. Basically, the truck needed all the fluids replaced and gas tank cleaned out. Good shops are always busy, so it took a full week to get everything done...and that's what leads me to the 1 star deduction. Water had gotten into the cab and the truck didn't get aired out until I was able to pick it up. It was pretty funky. I will say this though, this 2001 Silverado with 200K miles ran better than it has in years. I got it back home and gutted the interior and thoroughly cleaned and dried it all out. God help me if this ever happens again, but if it does, I know where to take it. read more

I love this place and have been taking my 1999 Honda Prelude here for years. I definitely recommend them. I don't live in Galveston but travel here many times a year and get my oil changes and repairs here because it is so convenient and the place is so good. They just did a major repair on my car and finished in 1 day. read more

I took my car in for a specific oil leak. They did several other (legitimate) repairs, charged me over $700, and did not fix the leak I had come in about. They also got grease all over the light tan interior of my car. I asked about what exactly had been the cause of the repaired leak while I was writing a check for the repairs, at which point the old man changed from saying a check was fine to saying the repair had to be paid for in cash. I paid cash, took my car home, and that night it leaked just as much oil as it had before I brought in in. I immediately went back and said it was still leaking. The old man said they had fixed it, then said there was no grease in the car (while he was looking at the plainly visible grease), then said they were never asked to fix it, then said older cars leak and there is nothing that can be done about that, then said they would have fixed it but could not get the parts. I eventually became agitated about this string of incomprehensible lies about why they had charged me $700 cash and not fixed my car. I was not upset about the other repairs, but I most definitely did want the oil leak fixed. The (large, muscular) son then decided he did not like the way I was talking to his father and got about one inch from me and told me "this is not the way." the son agreed to look at my car that afternoon, and asked that I bring it in around 1:00. I left work to bring it in at 1:00 as requested, but the son then said they did not have time right then and asked that I bring it back first thing in the morning. I brought it in first thing the next morning as requested, and they again said that they did not have time, and that they were not available at my convenience. I waited about 45 minutes before they bothered to look at the leaks. After the car was up on the lift in the back of the shop, he asked me to to come in and take a look with him - I did go take a look, but by this point I was starting to fear for my physical safety. He pointed out other problems I should pay him to fix, but denied being able to find the leak I had come in about. I pointed out the oil all over the bottom of the engine, that I had paid $700 to have fixed, and he again got within one inch of me and told me "this is not the way." He never actually threatened me, but I was alone in the back of a dark shop and honestly concerned for my physical safety. I told him I understood all cars leak, thanked him for his patience, and was thankful and relieved when my car and I were both safely back on the street. read more
