We went on a Friday night, and's it was a nice crowd but not too busy. We got sat immediately and ordered a bowl of gumbo, shrimp remoulade and crawfish bread - all which were great. My partner was ALL into the crawfish bread and devoured all but one piece. The one piece I did have was very good. For an entree we're shared the fried seafood platter with fries and it was really good. We got four nice fish fillets and shrimp- we opted out of the fried oysters. Everything was prepared nicely and seasoned well. Our server was very friendly and attentive. If ever we are in the area again, we would return.

3 Stars - Disappointing Experience with a Few Bright Spots…read more Three of us dined at Spahr's Seafood in early October 2025, and overall, we were not very impressed. First of all, the server may have been new, but she should have known not to offer items that obviously come at an additional cost without telling the patrons. We ordered crab cakes ($13), and she asked if we'd like the crawfish sauce to go with it. We said yes, not realizing it was a $6 extra charge. That kind of surprise fee doesn't sit well. The oyster po' boy ($24) was another letdown. It came served with tartar sauce, which is not traditional in Louisiana, and it really distracted from the authentic New Orleans flavor we were expecting. The bowl of gumbo ($10) and fried green tomatoes were decent but nothing memorable. The potato salad with entrée ($10) was just okay. With tax, the bill came to $75.65 for the three of us, which didn't feel like a great value given the quality. The one highlight of the meal was the bottomless sweet tea ($3), which was brewed perfectly and genuinely refreshing. Unfortunately, that was the high point of the evening. In short, this place has potential, but between the unexpected charges, the lack of authenticity in some dishes, and the overall food quality, I can only give it 3 stars.
