Bang bang shrimp + surf n turf

We were randomly in the area & decided to stop at this busy restaurant because it was like the only restaurant in the area seems like. We somehow beat the rush by a few seconds before everyone started rolling in during Mardi Gras. We got the Southwest egg rolls & they were fantastic! Probably your usually Sysco frozen food, but hey, they satisfied the cravings. The waitress brought out these 2 decently sized poboys & from the initial looks of it, I wasn't expecting my mind to be blown away especially coming from a place like NOLA where you can get some honestly really good poboys. Well, I was wrong. The bread was really soft (different than your usually rotated flaky bun), but still really tasty. The proteins were packed with just the right amount of flavor & salt. If we're in the area, we'll definitely be back. This place gets BUSYYYY, but they take care of you once you walk through that front door.

Unfortunately my review is a bit different that most. The interior was very dark. The surrounding were ok. The service was a bit slow. The food was ok. It was just so overly seasoned with an odd seasoning combo I didn't care for. Overall I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.

Had to hit up Walmart in Boutte and saw that Boot T's was open. Last time I had come through here (my buddy has a place nearby but I am only there every so often), this was not a business so I figured why not check them out? There was a menu item that caught my eye immediately, the surf n turf po boy. This had roast beef with the gravy like they serve up debris in most Nola area spots, and then fried shrimp. I got mine dressed up as I always do. While I loved the beef and I loved the shrimp, I'm not sure I loved them together. Just felt like too much going on at once. I do believe though that had I gotten either a fried shrimp po boy or a roast beef po boy that I'd have absolutely loved either of those. Tried a sip of my friend Val's frozen beverage which was also delicious. The server/bartender we had was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself was cozy and (albeit a bit plain) a nice space. I'd like to see what it's like when they're jamming in there, but we went on a mid week afternoon so it was only a few tables. Would absolutely go back - it definitely Didn't Suck!

It's open seating, so I grabbed a table in the middle, and the Jae immediately made me feel taken care of. She handed us physical menus (even though there was a QR code), shared her favorite dishes, and offered drinks with such genuine warmth that it felt like we were regulars. We ordered the fish pasta platter and the red beans and rice plate, and let me tell you every bite was a flavor bomb. The fish was tender, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. The pasta was creamy, full of Cajun spice, loaded with shrimp, and just addictive. The red beans and rice were soft, hearty, and deeply flavorful, paired with a fresh side salad and four crispy wings. Every item on the plate felt intentional. The food came out piping hot, condiments were offered without even needing to ask, and the garlic bread? A star in its own right. Crunchy, buttery, garlicky heaven. To top it all off, we had the bread pudding, and whew, that dessert took me out. Rich, sweet, and soul-soothing. I'm pretty sure I went into a food coma afterward. I walked in a stranger and left feeling like I had joined a community. Jay Flem is a hidden gem I'll be raving about for a long time. Don't sleep on it.

We are from New Mexico and travel often to actively seek out local flavor. If you are looking for…read morean incredible meal, look no further. Chef Terry is a true professional; the attention to detail and depth of flavor here is something you usually only find in high-end city spots. Our server, Ronjae, provided service that was absolutely outstanding. Before we even ordered, he told us we wouldn't need to touch the salt or pepper because the food was 'off the charts' flavorful--and he was 100% right. We ordered the pasta and fish plate. The pasta with the shrimp and crawfish was incredible! I am not usually a big fish person, but this was outstanding--if I could get it prepared that well everywhere, I'd order it every day. And whatever you do, don't skip the bread pudding. It was out of this world! Pro Tip: If you happen to get there on a Thursday, you would be wise to purchase some of Crystal's pralines. They're incredible! It's so rewarding to support a locally owned business operating at this level. Do yourself a favor and go eat here!
