One child was 6, while mine was 5, but I called ahead and spoke with a kind lady who just returned from maternity leave, she confirmed the 6 yr old could join my kids 5 yr old class. Here's why it was so important that the 6 yr old join the 5 yr old class, this child medically can not get in any public pools, and the 4 and 5 yr olds do not have pool time so this worked out wonderfully. At the first day of camp, we again reminded them about the situation. Howecer, they didn't listen and had the child in the 6 yr old class, the child was terribly upset when the entire class got to swim. This all could have been avoided if they listen to our communication. My child did have a good time running around all day, but the point is that the breakdown of communication is scary and untrustworthy when dealing with a medical child.

A quick disclaimer - my review is more an overview as I was there for an event not a paid class. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend an event with the Louisville independent Business Association (LIBA) at Turners. LIBA had several of the instructors available to show folks how to do beginner moves on the equipment which included silks, trapeze bars, and hanging hoops. I'm getting over a cold, so didn't try it out for myself, but everyone who did had a great time! The instructors were so helpful (and flexible) with participants ranging in age from grade school to senior citizens. They demonstrated how to use the apparatus and then talked people through the basics. During a talk later in the evening, one volunteer said that the club has been producing a circus for over 60 years and that people of all ages participate. She had taken up aerial training in her 30s after having two kids! The friend that went with me was interested in a private session so we checked out their brochure. They offer memberships, classes, birthday parties, and private sessions all at very low cost (way below most gym or club memberships). We had such a great time watching other people try it out, I think we'll be organizing a ladies' night soon so we can see if we're up for the challenge!

With two different buildings on the main campus, CTSP has the flexibility to host a variety of activities. Being one of the business professionals that works out in the mornings as part of the adult performance training group, I enjoy the flexibility this provides. Monday/Wednesday/Friday we typically work out in the indoor facility. The workouts have included sleds, speed sacks, rtx rows, tire flips, bear crawls, frog jumps, and a whole host of other activities on the indoor turf. Tuesday/Thursday typically leaves use in the field house with the weights doing various free weight workouts, box jumps, step ups and a whole slew of other fun activities. More than the weights, indoor facility and all the workouts, I enjoy going here because of the camaraderie, and the personal interest and understanding that the staff takes in each of the participants. Corey and his staff always provide a diverse workout while pushing each person to gain that extra one percent each workout.

Looking back it was kind of ridiculous. The trainers took the time to work with me, gave me the skills that I needed to grow in areas of my desire, and it doesn't hurt that I made friends along the way. The only downfall for me is that it is an expensive membership, I get that they have to make money and it's truly worth every penny however I couldn't afford to say. The good news is, they equipped me with the skills and confidence I needed to change the relationship with my body and with working out. I'm forever grateful to this place!

The majority of the 10 person class…read morewere rookies from a new promotion they had just done and one lady was also from out of town that had 2.5 years experience with CrossFit. Amy Wacker was our coach and she was full of enthusiasm and very helpful with each of the athletes. Our warmup focused on helping getting our muscles slowly stretched and warm and we had fun in the back parking area doing it. I slowly Learned half the classes names and Amy introduced me to the class and my name to help me feel comfortable :) What I truly enjoyed about this box is it's not just about CrossFit. It was originally a gym with a heavy focus in Olympic weightlifting and personal training. They added some bootcamps and realized they were missing the CrossFit experience so they added in that element also. They are have the ability to hit the most diverse set of the population with experienced trainers in multiple aspects. I would highly recommend trying them out.

We really enjoyed our drop in visit to Strong Side!…read more At 9:01am on Saturday, we decided we wanted to kick our own butts with a workout at a local crossfit and had previously researched that Strong Side's last Sat. class is at 10. Chance greeted us when we walked in, had us sign a waiver, and gave us a quick tour of the box. He let us know that coach Amy would be leading the 10am WOD. Amy walked us through a group warm up, including shoulder opening exercises, a 400m run, and side shuffling drill. Then we got down to business: 5 sets of a 7-rep bear complex at increasing weights. No better way to feel alive! We finished off the workout with a guy vs. girl relay race of down-and-back sled pushes, which left my legs feeling like jelly. No better way to feel like you're dying! From my experience here, the coaches are approachable and energetic, and there was plenty of equipment to go around for our 10 or so person class!
