Are you tired of the movies? You want to get away from the city? You want to enjoy some outdoor activities? You got to come right here. It's Kyle canyon recreation right before Mount Charleston. Heads up there is a parking fee for overnight or day use. I paid 18 bucks today. Which is all good I've been wanting to barbecue at this spot. This place is so perfect you can actually take your dogs here and walk the trails here. You can walk on a cement trail or off course if you wanted to. There's a lot of restrooms here and what's so cool that they're all clean. I'm here right now as we speak, You know what's even more cool? There's actually a internet signal here :) I can't wait till my next day off I got to do this all over again today was a good day.

    Just my pup and I.

I came back! This time I brought my daughter. We set up our awning and car tent. Site# 9 was a good place to set up my car tent due to the huge parking space. However, it was too sunny. Super hot bec. hardly any shades. No place to put up my hammock. If you got big trucks, this is definitely a good place to have. Restrooms - very clean! However, they need a bigger trash can. Faucets - well maintained. A very clean area! WIFI - omg we watched movies at night it was so cool. Also, make sure to bring your own logs cuz they ain't selling them.

Beautiful area to walk in winter when there's snow, great to take your kids or dogs, and sleigh areas all around. Parking inside the picnic area is paying but a lot just park on the side of the road just like we did. Gorgeous day with great pictures.

On May 1, 2022, Kyle Canyon Punic Area was turned into a campground. Mike is the Campground Master and does a great job helping campers feel comfortable! I asked him for help with several things for my physically challenged mother. He really came through! The area is beautiful and our weekend family camp out was great!

Mariam (sp)? The entrance station attendant, was so nice and gave me some great advice about the area. I am in Vegas while wife works and found this unexpected gem just out driving around. Who knew?! Mountain forests and aspens just 40 min from downtown Las Vegas. 90 degrees in the valley, 72 at 8437'. Elk, wild horses, deer... I had no idea... Salute!

01/10/16 @ Kyle Canyon Picnic Area. Gorgeous backdrop. Weather was sunny, partly cloudy. Temp in the low 30's.. brrr it was cold

Great place to have a picnic and get away from the heat in Las Vegas. Approximately 40 minutes from downtown La Vegas.

Doc who is our driver agreed so we were on our way. Grandpup was elated to leave the hotel for some frolicking fun. The sky, clouds and wide open spaciousness was breathtaking. The sun peeking through the trees at that altitude gave a cool pastelly almost aurora borealis mini effect. We saw cars parked along the roadside. One family even brought lawn chairs to enjoy the chill in the air and kiddies catching thrills on the ice like tobogoning. They had parkas, beanies and snow shoes on. I stood fast by the car door as the hardened ice was slick and in no desire to take an injury. I took photos while Doc and hubs let T Bebe experience getting her paws in snow for the first time. We stopped by the Mt. Charleston Resort sign with lodge below. There's a restroom and limited parking there while Doc and I admired 3 tables of Navajo crafts ladies selling jewelry, jade sculptures, unique hanging decor. I ended up spending more than I expected. Got an arrowhead arrow in Iolani colors for Bud and a full beaded bangle I've never seen before for sweetie. Got a copper bracelet with a unique twist and a turquoise stone mounted on it plus two dangles I couldn't resist. All 3 women explained what kind of gemstones were on each item plus their meaning that I purchased from them. Fun morning to do and go somewhere different than usual in Vegas. Thanks Doc for driving and continuously filling up gas for our MLK weekend road trip.

We chose to start from the Upper Trailhead and parked our car near the Lower Trailhead so that we could easily hop in our car at the end. I suggest taking this route only if you prefer tackling the toughest part with the steepest incline right at the beginning, like I do. Overall, let me tell you, the trail is absolutely stunning and offers a perfect blend of sunshine and shade. You'll come across plenty of trees along the way and a few amazing viewpoints about halfway through the hike. Get ready to take in the smell of clean, fresh air and trees! Oh yeah! Don't forget to pack a picnic lunch and, of course, bring lots of water. Oh, and one more thing, this trail is dog-friendly! Now, when we started our hike, it was pretty crowded. Seems like most people show up around noon. If you can, I'd suggest coming earlier in the day on a weekend to avoid the crowd. Just a heads up: There aren't any restrooms on this trail, so plan accordingly.
