Kyo Matcha offers a unique twist on ice cream with Matcha ice cream or a Matcha swirl. The shop appears new and has a nice vibe. Service was very quick. These cups of ice cream are very generous so you will not go away feeling hungry. This matcha is not as sweet by nature and that may appeal to some. It is worth a stop.
The service there was really good. The baristas helped my boyfriend and I pick out some drinks and they were super nice and friendly. Cheese Matcha Latte 7.4/10 - a little too sweet at 100% sugar (my fault) - thought it would be cheese foam but matcha foam still gave prominent taste - cheese milk was interesting by rly good White peach matcha 7/10 - couldn't taste the peach that much but bf tasted it so maybe just me - otherwise it was pretty good matcha if the peach was a little stronger Black sesame mousse cake 9/10 - 2nd time getting it, so yummy :p
If you go full matcha, it has a much bolder flavor, while the swirl tastes sweeter -- both are great depending on your mood! The parfait was a nice mix of textures and really enjoyable. I tried the strawberry matcha latte for the first time -- not my favorite, but it was definitely pretty and worth a try if you like fruity matcha blends. This little spot is tucked inside Kajiken, easy to miss, but if you find it, the ice cream is totally worth it!
I didn't really care for my experience here. One of the staff members messed up my drink then argued with me about it. Then another staff member said "oh no look she did order the boba" so the girl who was arguing wiped off the whip cream at the top of my drink, puts the boba in the cup, then gives my drink back to me. The other staff member was like "take the straw out the cup." I don't know where the common sense was at. I'm such a fan of the matcha brulee cream slush but they just messed it up too much for my taste buds. The towel cake roll is decent. Very cute presentation and not too sweet. I don't think it's worth 10 dollars though.
The drinks my family and I tried were just okay...a lot of the flavors were not as spot-on as we hoped, based on the descriptions. For the price point, I wasn't impressed, but I'd consider giving it a second try.
Kyo Matcha is next door to Kajiken in Pinecrest Plaza, at the corner of Little River Turnpike and Braddock Rd. In fact, there is an inside opening between Kyo Matcha and Kajiken. The star of the Kyo Matcha show is, of course, the Matcha ice cream. But they do also sell other various sweet treats including cakes and lattes. The ice cream flavors are matcha, vanilla and hojicha. The hojicha ice cream looks like chocolate but I think it is actually, like matcha, a tea flavor. We ordered the matcha ice cream. I like the matcha ice cream because it has a robust flavor but is not overly sweet. In my opinion, it's best to order the Mixed Cup (or Mixed Cone). Vanilla ice cream is paired with matcha ice cream in a swirl. The complementary contrast between the two flavors is very very appealing. Love it! Counter service is pleasant and efficient.

Long lines and poorly designed interior - 2 stars you cant even enter through the door if there're only 5 people as the door and the cashier distance is barely 2-3 people. Once ordered and waiting for your items, you have nowhere to go but to block the people who are trying to walk-in. 2. Taste - 3 stars The matcha is more bitter. The cone is black and leaves black residue on tooth, very unsightly. never get it if you are on a date. It is just simply not as good as the Falls church location.
Small Kyo Matcha location with three tables insides; luckily, there's more tables located outside. There's a kiosk for ordering and not much interaction with the two staff working behind the counter. Kyo matcha mix soft serve moderately sweet, smooth and creamy. Personally, I like the matcha roll cakes as they are not as sweet and have a sweeter creamy filling in the center. Decent parking lot and can be hard to see as it's next to a dry ramen noodle place, Kajiken.

Would be my second go to order. This would be a great place to come grab some sweet dessert to go but wouldn't be a place where I stay. PS . This place share a space with another store so you won't see signs on top of kyo matcha.
Kyo Matcha is an aesthetic little gem! Such a cozy space, beautiful desserts, and so many matcha drinks to try. I loved the peach tea matcha and the soft-serve was a treat. Perfect for a quick date or solo matcha moment. I had a Mixed Cup (ice cream and matcha) with sprinkles and matcha powder, took home the White Peach Matcha Latte, and Charcoal Matcha Roll Cake
Black sesame cheese mousse cake was okay. Matcha soft serve is always a 10/10 here. Recommend getting only the matcha stuff here. Everything else has a chance of being mid. Store is tiny, mostly a take your ice cream and go outside kinda place. The tables and seats weren't being cleaned often enough and had people's ice cream mess on them that we had to clean ourselves before sitting down.
I'm so excited there's another Kyomatcha ! This location is literally next to kajiken as in you don't even have to leave the restaurant to go between the two. After eating at kajiken we came here and got the black sesame mousse cake and we loved it ! The sesame flavor was perfect. The downside is that the cookie underneath felt too sweet that covered up the sesame taste a bit the consistency and taste was really good.
My favorite local soft serve ice cream place. There are others around the DMV, but this is the closet to me. Came today for my first one of the year. Service is fine...you just order and pay at the kiosk on the right-hand side, grab your order, and go. They have nice seating outside, which on a beautiful day like today is perfect.
Cute little shop directly connected to the restaurant Kajiken (also really good). Service was quick! I ordered a taro slushy. It wasn't too sweet, and was perfectly icy. It actually stayed pretty icy on my 25 minute drive home as well (bonus). Though this shop is small there is a table on the side if you want to sit and wait or sip on your drink for a few minutes. The strawberry matcha with oat milk is my go to! I've only tried one other matcha drink here, but it was really good too. The location is super convenient right off Little River Turnpike, and I usually order ahead through the app. Every now and then I'll have enough points saved up to get my latte almost free, which is always a nice bonus. The space is shared, with the restaurant on the left side and the matcha/treat counter on the right. Each side has its own ordering kiosk, plus staff behind the counter who can also take your order. The staff is always friendly, and whenever I pull up, my matcha is ready and waiting for me! read more
The most fire matcha ever! Omg the matcha float was incredible! I mixed the ice cream in, with the whole milk matcha latte, and the consistency was PERFECT. It wasn't too sweet but the matcha taste was so so good, different than every other matcha spot I've been to. This location is attached to the ramen shop next door. If you go full matcha, it has a much bolder flavor, while the swirl tastes sweeter -- both are great depending on your mood! The parfait was a nice mix of textures and really enjoyable. We're familiar with Kyo Matcha and are big fans. It helps that this location is attached to Kajiken too. We visited right after our dinner there. It's a small space that was pretty packed around 9PM on a Sunday. We got a strawberry matcha latte, a lavender matcha latte, and a chocolate crepe cake to go. Still great as expected. Smooth matcha flavor with a little bit of sweetness that we love. The crepe cake was solid, not too sweet or chocolatey. Great combo with dinner from Kajiken. We're definitely going to be back. read more

I'm so glad there's a matcha spot so close to home! I loved the first location in Falls Church City, so I was thrilled to hear about this new one opening. The space is on the smaller side and seems to be connected to the new ramen shop next door, Kajiken. I ordered the Lavender Matcha Latte, one of my all-time favorites, and it was just as delicious as I imagined. You can really taste the freshness of the matcha. The staff were super helpful, offering other recommendations and introducing me to their pastries, which looked incredible--I'll definitely try them next time. The only downside is the price. At $6-8 for a regular-sized cup, it's hard to justify the cost. I understand that the price of boba and ingredients has gone up, but I feel like there could be a bit more value for the price. read more

I love some Kyo Matcha. The flavor is consistent across the board, no matter what location I've been to. The staff are friendly, and the place is very small. It's mostly grab-and-go since it's connected to the restaurant. There are some seats outside, but I think they may be for the restaurant. My favorite is Mango green tea and the Yuzu Matcha. read more

I've never tried matcha slush before but their matcha red bean slush was very delicious. It wasn't too sweet but just right for a refreshing dessert. Their passion fruit crepe cake was also amazing. I'd definitely come back for a sweet treat! read more

First timers. Went here around at 8pm-9pm, ordered the Matcha Brulee Cream Slush and the Matcha Red Bean Latte! Will definitely comeback again and it'll be our next & NEW go-to spot!!! Luckily it's down the road from Annandale on Little River Turnpike! Really cute place in the inside & love the whole branding concept! If you're a matcha lover, definitely highly recommend to come here!!! read more

Kyo Matcha shares the same spot as Kajiken, which is super convenient for those craving Asian flavors. This is also in Alexandria, but essentially right off the border of Annandale. Parking can be tricky, as this place is also in the same shopping center as a Lidl, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, nail salon, Taco Rock + gym. I would recommend parking in the back/side areas of Kajiken, so you can get some decent parking. Inside, it can be a bit cramped when it's the weekend, so definitely try to order to-go if you can. There's maybe 2-3 tables inside, but fairly small as well. You can order via the kiosk or at the register. There's options of desserts and drinks, and sometimes there are specials too. I ordered the white peach tea, which was fairly sweet, but would come back again for the soft serve options, crepe cakes and other drinks too! If you're a matcha fan, definitely stop by! read more

I'm not a matcha expert but this seems to be the most authentic tasting matcha latte I've tried! Very earthy and delicious with good chewy boba. Not too sweet which I appreciate. There's not a lot of indoor seating so not the best spot to do work unless you get lucky. Will definitely go back to try the sweets! read more

Came for their soft opening and they had creamy matcha soft serve. I thought the flavor was delicious. Their matcha latte had a fair amount of caffeine. 50% sweetness was sweet enough. I got the Black sesame mouse upon my friend's recommendation and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was nutty and sweet, like an Asian mousse version of an Oreo. The cafe does not have much seating, only 2 tables and it's adjacent to another restaurant. It's a little pricey at around $10 per item, but I would comeback for their soft serve and to try another dessert since I also hear good things about their cheesecake. Our friend got the matcha red bean milk cap and I liked the milk cap crème. Their matcha latter dessert was not that sweet if that's something you prefer. read more

I came to Kajike Ramen for lunch today my second visit since their grand opening earlier this year. The location is super convenient for me, and every time I've been here, I've had a great experience with both the food and the service. The place is also very well-decorated and spotless, which makes the dining experience even better. While I was still eating, I placed a Kyo Matcha order on Uber Eats to take advantage of a promotion. I thought I ordered from the location next door, but it turned out I had accidentally placed the order with a different location the one where I previously had a bad experience. I canceled it right away, but Uber Eats still charged a $10 cancellation fee and wouldn't refund anything. Disappointed, I decided to stop by the Kyo Matcha next door to Kajike Ramen and explained the mix-up to the front staff. The person who had served us at Kajike Ramen (possibly the owner or manager) came over, listened to the story, and honor the promotion even though it wasn't their mistake and the other location is separately owned. He gave us two matcha drinks free of charge. That small act of kindness left a big impression. It wasn't just about the drinks, it was about the service, professionalism, and genuine care. He didn't have to do it, but he chose to, and that means everything. Because of that, I'll definitely keep coming back to this Kyo Matcha location and will recommend it to friends and family. Experiences like this remind you why local businesses matter. Thank you! read more

I ordered a towel cake to go on a slow monday night. The girl at the counter didn't offer us a bag to carry the cake, which was a turn off to me. I opened the box at home and the bottom was soaking wet...the crepe layer could barely hold the cream inside and it looked like everything was falling apart. Needless to comment about the taste. I usually go to the location in Falls Church and this is the first time here... not recommended! read more

Kyo Matcha is a cute spot hidden inside a ramen place--just look for the big green matcha ice cream outside. The staff were nice, offering recommendations and even giving me a sample of hojicha ice cream, which I loved. I got a hojicha latte with half sugar--it was good, but the ice cream was the highlight! read more

Next to the ramen place that just opened. It's cute and a decent dessert spot. Prices are pretty high for what it is. The crepe cakes there look good but pricey overall for the Annandale area. Service is quick and friendly. Can get really packed during dinner time though. read more
