It's really hard to find a decent Dairy Queen. But I had the strangest occurrence yesterday that has never happened and I've been to this location multiple times and continued to frequent because the arrive I had previously was good. However yesterday I walked in. And maybe 2 other patrons were in the store... I went up to the counter to order my ice cream. There were probably about 4 employees staring at me. I asked the cashier if they had a churro dipped cone he said yes wrung me up and it says cherry cone.. not what I asked for but I figured price is the same for a single dipped cone. Now he wasn't the one who prepped it he whispered to someone else who was prepping in and asked in a cone or a cup. Um I wasn't asked this question so why assume? I stayed silent cause he correctly guessed a cone. Only to be brought out a red cherry dipped cone. Seriously?! 4 people all witnessed this cherry cone. Instead of just apologizing and saying sorry about that you keep it cause we have to throw it out. Takes it out of my hand and places it in the holder then attempts to make me the correct cone. As I walked out I've never felt so confused. 4 people watched the guy ring me up and a guy improperly prepare my ice cream. A reminder to not visit on a Thursday because the staff seems to be the least helpful. Who knows maybe they are the franchise owners and just have horrible customer service cause if this was my first visit it would've been my last. read more

X is for Bailey's X-roads (Crossroads): There is a sign on VA-7 (Leesburg Pike or King St) that actually says Bailey's X-roads. I went here once with a friend in 2016. I was pushing for some nicer place next door, but he was practically begging to go to the Diary Queen. I was trying to eat healthy and went with the grilled chicken sandwich with the fries and drink; so still not healthy, but I bit healthier than the fried chicken sandwich or chicken strips. My friend paid for mine and said you get me next time. Gee thanks, he picks the cheapest place, and I got him next time on a more expensive place. The grilled chicken sandwich was rubbery; I would've enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich or chicken strips better. I wanted gravy for my fries; the only way to make their fries not mediocre since I don't like ketchup, but they tried to charge me a $0.25, which I was annoyed by, but I paid it. If I had been smart, maybe I should've let my friend pay that quarter too. I think just go to Diary Queen if you are getting their ice cream products. If you are getting an actual lunch or dinner, I'd steer clear and go elsewhere. read more

Heard about Grill and Chill from visiting in-laws from Ohio, and took the whole family out here, very good experience. Got plenty of food, desserts, and it didn't break the bank. Amazing value in these inflationary times - McD's and has gotten so expensive for a much lesser quality of food, it's just not worth it. The food here is better quality and you get the nostalgia of 1980's Blizzards and dipped cones all over again. Great burgers and fries, chicken. I was in the area and after seeing DQ commercials on TV for the past couple of months, I knew it was time to finally satisfy that once-a-year blizzard craving. It was July 4th so they were closing early at 4pm, and there was a bit of a line when I arrived at 3:15pm, but it moved quickly and the cashier was efficient and friendly. The A/C must have been broken because it was hotter in there than the 95 degrees it was outside! Anyways, my blizzard was ready and made with chocolate ice cream as requested (if you're dying to know I chose the choco brownie extreme) within a couple of minutes. I found parking up front with no issues too. I've never had anything other than blizzards from any DQ, but this one is just like the rest-standard recipe, refreshing, and satisfies the sweet tooth! My girl had a hankerin' for one of their chili dogs and I tried their new Alaskan Cod sandwich. It was simple but hot n' tasty. Her footlong chili dog was more than a meal. That thing was colossal. After the meal, she had a blizzard - I only tried a couple spoonfuls and it was decadent. The atmosphere leaves little to be desired though. And some of the clientele outright sneers at my service dog. Too bad...she wears a vest and is legal. These urchins need to learn the law. read more

My friend and I searched to see where the closes one would be and to Arlington, this is it. It's a small little place in a strip next to Party Depot. When we arrived, there was a line reaching the door. My guess, it was because it was the last day of the deal. We patiently waited in line and then ordered a Reese's pieces Blizzard and a Banana Split Blizzard. They did not do the flip and nor did they give enough toppings. I had to mix mine up to really have it hit the spot. The banana pieces were very big and chunky so it was not to my liking. I have never had high expectations of Dairy Queen so I'm not appalled or surprised. It was decent and it served it's purpose in getting me fat. If I want something that wows me then I would go to Cold Stone. read more

A really great deal, if you ask me. Our total for two large blizzards was $4.58. wonderful. We walked in, after our dinner at Pho Golden Cow. I was looking forward to these blizzards all day. :) My husband ordered the cookie dough blizzard, and I got my all-time-favorite, the mint oreo. Our guy was quick to take our order, and get it started, but I too noticed that my much anticipated famous "Dairy Queen Blizzard Flip" was not performed. Boo. :( For a moment there, I thought maybe it was just a California thing...but after reading Ben's review, I'm going to assume its a Dairy Queen thing. Shame on them. Neither of the two workers did their flip! In addition, our guy was very cheap on the ingredients. For two large blizzards, only the top half of my blizzard was mint oreo. The bottom was pure vanilla ice cream :( And when he put cookie dough in my husband's blizzard, he scooped two scoops, which is probably the equivalent of 2 Tbsp. It was sad, because my husband pretty much got vanilla ice cream....with a few cookie dough bites. LAME. So much for a blizzard! The quantity we received was a bit shy as well. Back home, our blizzards always had that "slim-jim-guy-hair" type shape at the top. Hence the exciting "flip" to prove that their blizzard was a success, despite bulging out in portions. I called shortly after opening inquiring about an ice cream cake - what colors/flavors they had on hand. They ran through what they had and I casually mentioned that I would prefer a blue-iced cake with a birthday message, but didn't make a specific order with them as I planned to visit in-person later in the afternoon. I ended up coming in a few hours later than I expected, but they had set the one blue-iced cake aside for me! They wrote the birthday message while I waited. Know one of the guy that work at this Dairy Queen for a long time. Because I work next to this place. Always give me 10% discount, and cook my orders perfectly! I usually get chicken basket which is pretty tasty and good amount of food. But I'm not really a big fan of their fries. Also Flame Thrower burger is SUPER GOOD! Plenty of meat, cheese.. pretty fat though, but I'm a skinny Asian kid, so I don't care that much. So yeah, this place always satisfied me. read more

Since reviewing this exact location about three years ago, my feelings and experiences have changed. What was once 'easily the best Dairy Queen in the DC area' is now the stingiest and most expensive. The signature blizzards have shot up in price-- the last time I went a small was nearly $5.00-- $4.55 to be exact. That same blizzard had exactly five pieces of candy in-- and for a blizzard that was supposed to be 'loaded' with candy pieces, it was sorely lacking in both substance and flavor-- unless vanilla is counted as a flavor. Try the other Dairy Queen on Kingstowne Blvd; the prices are cheaper for the same thing and also the employees are not stingy with the toppings/fillings. read more

Despite the mediocre food, this review is on customer services. If there is anyway that turns me off, customer service is the ultimate sin. I ordered a 4 piece chicken finger basket which comes with fries and a soda/drink. As the cashier gave me a cup for my drink, I noticed there were water bottles and soda can fridge to my right. I asked the guy if instead of getting soda if I can get a water bottle instead. The guy directed me to the soda fountain and said that I can get water from there. I don't understand. Anywhere else you go, you can trade out a water bottle instead of getting a soda. He told me again to get my water from the soda fountain. I went ahead and got a soda.
