I felt bad for a minute but then [[HIGHLIGHT]]he brought us to a table where the cushions were so blown out that the table was coming almost to our chins.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It felt vindictive and I didn't feel bad anymore. Things got even weirder after that. We asked about happy hour and he said you have to be sitting in the bar, we asked to move there. Get to the bar and there's no bartender.......why sit us there? Bizarre. He took our drink order and mocked me for my choices. "OMG, you think whiskey tastes good with sprite? Ew" I honestly didn't know how to respond, I've never had a waiter be so weird. Then instead of making the drinks, he disappeared and didn't come back. Finally had to flag down another waiter who took our order, made the drinks and put in our food order. The food has gone downhill. My spider roll was rolled so poorly I couldn't use chopsticks. Had to use my hands and pray it wouldn't fall apart. Most of it did. Crab tasted old. Prices have also gone completely out of control. There is no happy hour to speak of, 10% off isn't worth anything. And $11 for a Sapporo?!?!?!?!? That costs less than $4 in a store. The wife wanted hibachi for her birthday, so the wife got hibachi!!!! She has been to this place before but I haven't and my experience was absolutely epic! Our chef was super funny and super talented! Being as I made my bones in the culinary world I so enjoy watching my food being prepared in front of me! Our service was top notch and the sushi was overall fantastic. Well, why the four stars instead of five? We ordered two rolls and a variety of sushi. Unfortunately the hamachi (yellowtail) was a bit off and the Escoral (super white tuna) was delicious but cut the wrong way, which made it difficult to bite and seem stringy. Id like to give this place a better review, it used to be an ok place to eat. I have had the past three experiences not meet expectations. The food is ok at best, and overpriced for the area. I have had one experience where the staff was sleeping in the bar area and we left as to not wake them. We have had an experience where the beef katsu tasted really off. This last experience had us wait for the hibachi which is normal, but once sat down and waited longer was told cocktails are not available (tell the customer before they are sat!) So beer was ordered. Then was told they only have coors light out of 8 beers listed. Very strange for a restaurant and it was enough for us to leave. We hoped for more but unfortunately will not be back. Good luck Kyotos, we did have like 2 good experiences many years ago. We've been in here several times for dinner. Hubby has a bento box or tonkatsu, always good food. I'm a fan of the tempura, but I usually order the salmon lovers dinner and just pig out. The salmon is always delicious. But here's the not great: the kitchen and sushi bar are not at all synced up. On a couple of occasions, hubby's dinner has come out a good 15 minutes before my sushi. Pretty annoying. It would be a very good thing if the waitstaff communicated with the two in some constructive manner so things arrived together. Please? Where to even begin. I was working in the area and Kyoto's was suggested to me by a local. I had really high hopes for this place that fizzled out shortly after I entered the building. The decor is also like a weird retro 90s vibe, with wall to wall carpet. I ordered online with an ETA of 20 minutes. Perfect, I got there 25 minutes later, but food wasn't ready yet. No biggie. It was everything after that which really put me off. As I stood there patiently, a woman barked at me that I needed to wait while she dealt with other things and she'd get to me later. Ok. In the time I was waiting for my food, I watched the man and the woman who were handling online orders and payments at the front booth yell at other staff, argue with customers about their bill/applying discounts, and make distasteful comments in passing. The man was licking his fingers as he sorted through receipts and then turned right around to bag to-go orders without ever washing his hands or thinking twice. He also dropped a salad dressing on the floor and picked it up and threw it right in the bag. The food was 2-stars at best. The shu mai was inedible to me, hence the one bite in the photo was about all I could do. The beef was an odd texture and cold. Fried rice was average. The California rolls and tempura were good. Fortunately, I'm not in the area too often, but if I find myself in Longview I know where I WON'T be eating. read more

My wife and I loved this place so much. We went here to celebrate the start of an ozumo tournament (we love sumo wrestling) and were amused to find the large rikishi statues in the lobby. The staff was amazing. Everyone was very sweet and accommodating. And the food was absolutely incredible. We got some yakitori, beef ramen, katsu, gyoza and a couple deserts and everything was absolutely wonderful. I also got some fried rice and the portions were enormous and rice was delicious. They have all the fun drinks you normally see at Asian restaurants and the prices were really good. Dinner was eh. I am not a big fan of Japanese redtaurantscwuth the hibachi. Mainly because of all the sauces and seasoning they use on the meats. My filet and scallops were just ok. Rice was very good. Vegetables were ok. Stoked to have stumbled upon this beautiful spot. We parked outside and looking at the storefront I wouldn't imagine it to be so spacious inside. Beautiful decor on the interior, from the trim to the traditional Japanese design. I'd say the only thing better than the interior layout was the food; although it was SAUCY- it was delicious. The salmon literally peeled apart upon first bite. The Beef Ramen was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Highland roll and the Black Dragon roll, I would highly recommend the Highland roll. My lady ordered Seafood Udon (if I remember correctly) and the rootbeer was delicious HALF PRICE ON WEDNESDAYS, ON TOP OF ALREADY DECENT PRICING FOR THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD. Bomber waiter- Brandon was our waiter and we will be back IF the food was as good as it was last time. The service I would not doubt will be as good as it was last time, Brandon was very respectful to us and it was hard to top his respect for us . His knowledge of the food was top notch, I'd consider this a 3-5 star restaurant. It wasn't too busy so that might be a reflection of why the food was so good, although I would beg to differ that their food is usually pretty bomber. After I moved away from the area, this restaurant opened up and I kept seeing posts from friends and family on social media about how wonderful the food was. I made a mental note to try it out if I had the chance on my next visit back home, and last week I was finally able to do so. If you're wanting to eat at the grill, be prepared to wait. They will generally see if more people are coming in as to maximize the number of diners being attended to by one chef. We had excellent timing and actually filled the spaces others were waiting on, so we spent no time waiting, and were actually rushed to place our order. We made it in time to be able to take advantage of the lunch prices, and I still cannot believe the amount of delicious food we got for such an incredibly low and reasonable price. I got the Hibachi Sukiyaki Steak, while almost everyone else at the grill ordered the filet mignon. I stood by my decision, and I'm very glad I did. The food had such wonderful flavors, and the dipping sauces only enhanced them. I had an ice water with my meal, and have no regrets -- it was refreshing and actually had great flavor. So, for about $8.62 I had a fantastic meal, a delicious water, entertainment, and a nice visit with family and a friend. We ordered gyoza appetizer, tuna maki roll, chicken teriyaki with miso soup, and the spicy shrimp ramen. Well they ended up bringing salad out instead of the miso soup...strike one. The gyoza and sushi were really good. The chicken teriyaki (came with fried rice) was a very small portion and the rice was meh. The spicy shrimp ramen came out in this ridiculously weird bucket thing... it was alright, the mushrooms in the ramen were disgusting. Shrimp was over cooked.
