I've been coming to LA Nails for years. If you are looking for a champagne spa day, this hole-in-the-wall nail place next to QFC is not your destination. If you are looking for a solid mani-pedi, come on in! They are welcoming to people of all genders, LGBTQ-friendly, and will never judge you or try to change your personal style. During the pandemic, they have always scrupulously followed the changing local guidelines for their safety and that of their customers. Like any small business, they are reluctant to turn away business and won't rush one customer to make room for another, so you may end up with a bit of a wait, even if you made an appointment. Here's the thing. I have what my family affectionately refers to as 'hobbit feet'. Hairy, thick calluses, nails that have fallen out due to injuries and grown back in deformed in a variety of ways. These women handle them like the incredible professionals they are. With a monthly pedicure here, my feet look and more importantly FEEL like a million bucks. I can hike without the discomfort I otherwise get from my feet. My wife enjoys all of the fancy acrylic, gel, shellac nail treatments and waxing they offer. I tend to stick with the basics. Not coming back. Got attitude issue and overcharge. I got nail extension from a different store and was told to do foil wrap nail removal, which I think is the common way for every salon that doesn't incur additional fee. When walked in, I asked for nail removal and a regular manicure. The lady gave lots of attitude when I stopped her from prying open my nails using nail extension. (my nails are very thin/fragile due to wearing extension. Force removal will be very damaging) She threw her nail extension on the table, rolled her eyes, and said something in Vietnamese. She then started the foil removal.. of course with impatience. I didn't want to make a scene, now that I think I should have. It was such a terrible experience that I stayed through the whole thing. Perhaps foil removal takes longer that she'd make less than providing other services. During the service, I think she cried as if I mistreated her. At the very end, I suppose to help for the tips, she tried to be all nice when I'm about to check out. My bill came up to be $45 for a nail removal + deluxe manicure. I only wanted a regular one, no color. Didn't even ask what nail shape I wanted. Since I got serviced overall, still tip $10, but will never come back. And wouldn't recommend anyone to visit. read more

Okay so I'm really bummed to have to write this review and give a one star rating for a few reasons. 1 - I got a mani pedi here on my first trip to Seattle when I was deciding to move here or not and was SO HAPPY with my experience. This was in June 2016. 2 - Once I did move here, I went there regularly and was consistently very happy with my experience, both the quality of the work + customer service. I regularly referred my friends and family there, singing their praises. 3 - I felt their pricing was on point (on the higher side, but let's face it we're in Seattle) and it was reasonable enough to justify the great experiences I had there. Now for the unfortunate news...I'm really sad to say that things have changed at LA Nails. I went back about 8 months ago and left feeling tricked and with a multitude of bad feelings. They neglected to communicate they'd risen prices across the board significantly ($8-10/service) all their posted prices did not show that, neither was I told of the change until the end when I was given my bill. I chalked this up to a one-time bad experience, and although unhappy, I was willing to consider going back some time in the future. I finally decided to give them another try yesterday. Let me tell you, I wouldn't be spending time writing this review if the experience wasn't as horrible as it was. WOW it was just so messed up. I have to say my pedicurist was a sweetie and she did a great job, was nice and kind and I have nothing bad to say about her - HOWEVER I was lied to about the price by the woman who runs the shop. I asked how much it would cost for a gel pedi and she said $35, which I felt alright about. She charged me $43 and told me I had asked how much a different service was (which was not true). If that was the only issue, I would have been slightly miffed but could have let it go. But here's the real banger. I got a SLS dip manicure for the first time ever. The woman who did it was the most unpleasant, mean, and to be completely frank treated me in the most offensive way I've ever experienced. Here I am paying $45 +tip to get my nails done and she was straight up mean to me. I went out of my way to be friendly and nice to here, asking her questions about herself + kids, and she was just nasty to me! This is a woman who has done my toes and nails numerous times before and I have always tipped them over 20% and been sweet and kind to all of them. I was blown away by how horribly she acted and felt honestly hurt by the way I was treated for a service that all together cost over $100. LA Nails, I hope you read this and take the feedback and use it constructively. I can say that after being a loyal customer for over 3 years, I will NEVER ever give you business again. read more

They threw me in a chair and gave me the nail color samples. They proceeded to shuffle through 3 different people who were doing my nails at different times. This place is not worth the time or money. I've always made it a point to make appointments at nail salons because I value my time. This place has NEVER seen me on time. This time, I waited well over an hour before even being sat in a pedicure/manicure chair and the whole process took almost 3 hours. I had asked for paraffin wax on both my hands and feet and only got it on my feet because by the time they got to my hands, they were already closed for half an hour. They then proceeded to take shortcuts by not soaking my hands and proceeding straight to cutting my cuticles. They didn't ask how I wanted my nails shaped so I asked them for rounded nails. It didn't make a difference. I ended up paying for uneven nails that were very uneven. My friends could have done a better job and they aren't even "professionals"!! All in all, it's safe to say that this is the last time I visit this place. The last time it was just a poor polish job with sides not completely filled in and some uneven spots. This time was the last straw. They saddest part was that people had walked in after us and they were clearly busy. But they just asked these newcomers what they were looking for and told them to take a seat and wait. One or two people left because they were waiting for 30 minutes and were clearly NOT going to be helped soon. They least they could have done was told these people there was a long wait!! What they really should have done was turned people away. Clearly customer service is not what they're about... I walked in on a Saturday with no appointment and expected to wait. This nail salon is in Capitol Hill, a very busy section of Capitol Hill and it is small. If you are the type of person who walks into a salon and expects to be seen within five minutes.. don't walk-in, make an appointment. If you do walk in BE PATIENT. They are fast and they have an efficient system to get to everyone quickly, but patience is necessary. Back to my walking in. I asked if anyone was available for a full set. The young lady told me yes and guided me to sit at the last open table (there are only four nail stations and four or five pedicure chairs). So I sat at the table and chilled, read some emails etc. They gave me a basket with several color wheels so I could pick out my nail color while I waited. About ten minutes later my nail tech sat down. She was engaging, funny, sweet and very nice. My only dissapointment during my visit is that she reached out and grabbed a curl in the front of my head as she was curious as to how long my hair was. Apparently, she didn't get the memo about how horrible it is to violate a black woman's space by just reaching out to touch her hair because you're curious. We're not animals in a zoo. Reaching out to touch my hair as she did was ignorant and disrespectful. I alerted her to this and asked her how she would feel if a stranger just reached out and started grabbing her hair and stretching it out to see how long it was. She profusely apologized and we moved past it. Despite that, she did a wonderful job on my nails. I appreciated that she worked quickly. After she completed my fill another very sweet young lady stepped in to paint my nails. They turned out beautifully. Overall, I'm quite happy and will be back. I was recommended to LA nails by a local business owner. I admired her polish color and she told me LA nails has a large selection of unique gel polish. So I headed there as I happen to be in the area on a cold Saturday morning. To my surprise they took me right away without an appointment. Score ! As I'm sitting down for my pedicure I see a poster for SNS nails. I ask my pedicure tech for the color wheel and what SNS nails are (new for me). The tech doesn't know what I'm asking. She asks another technician who ignores my question and tells me she is the only one there who does SNS nails and doesn't have time for me and she's too busy. Terrible way to answer a simple question about a product and color. Rude as heck. The other techs proceed with my manicure and pedicure while SNS lady sits and chats on her cell phone. Didn't appear " busy " to me. The mani n pedi were good but super expensive. $75 plus tip for a regular gel mani and regular pedi (no polish). Great color selection, decent mani/pedi. The worst nail salon experience of my entire life. I went in to get my first SNS manicure removed (so partially my fault for not knowing proper removal techniques). The lady removed my nail polish with two pieces of acrylic nails to scrape and rip them off. No pre-soaking in acetone, no nothing. Just completely ripped them off. When I questioned what she was doing I got a mouthful and laughed at. She was completely rude and I let her continue because I was just ready to get out of there. Absolutely wonderful service - I went in to get shellac polish removed and redone on my hands, and Mai did an amazing job! Some salons of this "tier" (that is, not high-high end, just a tiny salon with a few chairs nestled in between a teriyaki shop and a Subway sandwich) will just do whatever default length/nail shape is currently popular, but she worked with me to make sure I had exactly the length and nail shape I wanted. She also took a lot of care removing the shellac I came in with, something that a lot of technicians are unnecessarily rough about. I love my manicure, the price was great, and they got me in right on time and out within 45 minutes. I'll definitely be going back! read more

I went there for a fill about a month ago, the fill was thick looking and the grow out was not gradual, so there was a ridge of acrylic and new nail, which I never had visiting 8th day spa. So I couldn't stand looking at them anymore so I had to get them off, so I did that and went in for shaping and polish. The manicure Polish was sloppy and my nail tech could hardly communicate with me (which is fine, unless there's an issue) still I left and went on with my normal activities. The next day half my polish is gone and chipping off because of several reason that could have been addressed on Monday. It is now Wednesday and I have time to have them fix it, and they're trying to tell me that's it's my fault because I had acrylics on, or the Polish is too bright, or what ever. So they offer to fix it but I don't think the skill in the shop is worth it so I ask for a refund of just the nail service so refused. I call a friend of mine who is from Vietnam to explain my side and my suggestion for the service and the women who speaks the most English tells her not to speak to her in Vietnamese. So $33 wasted, I will never get my nails done anywhere other than 8th day spa. Every time you walk in to a salon or nail shop in Seattle it's a gamble. I can't!
