The lady who did my nails was very nice, always checking with me to make sure I was ok with her work (eg: offering different services, confirming nail length and color, short conversation). Not a great place for custom nail ideas, I came in thinking there would be more gel color variety but there really isn't. I wanted a Korean jelly inspired nail look but it just came out super opaque pink and Barbie like. The lady filed my natural nails crooked, and I asked her to file it again twice until my ring finger nail was shorter than the rest of my nails. She was really sweet and nice so I didn't want to say anything. A girl came in about 30 minutes before closing and the workers started immediately talking crap about her, and I find that hilarious seeing as their business isn't doing super well. I would definitely not recommend this place because when I went to go check out, the man at the front took my service receipt, took a pen and wrote 30 extra on it. He said 68 for a gel manicure??? Sir.... I corrected him nicely and he was like oops sorry. Anyways I would recommend My Nail Spa not too far from here, a 3 stop bus ride or a 20 minute walk away. This was the first time I tried Nails Plus and I'm so glad. Once I got there, I met Sue, the owner, and her dog Lucky. She was so friendly and sweet. When I told her I wanted a manicure and pedicure for a wedding, she told me she'd give me a gel French manicure for $25 when it's usually $30 because it was my first time there. I got a gel French manicure with sparkles on top and a red hot rio pedicure. As Lupe was giving me a pedicure, Judy was getting my hands ready for the gel manicure which saved me time since I had to pick up family at the airport. Lupe was very careful painting my toes and if she got some on my toes, she skillfully took it off with nail polish remover. As my toes were drying, Judy started on my gel French manicure and I really appreciated it when Judy asked if the white line was thick enough or if I wanted it thicker for the gel French manicure. While I'm sitting there, Antonia starts massaging my shoulders, neck and upper arms which literally relaxed me so much that I almost fell asleep. My gel French manicure and pedicure were perfect and fast. I'm going to come here for my manicures and pedicures from now on. I love the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The guy who did my acrylics and also my pedicure was so nice and funny. Went in for a gel mani and regular pedi and pretty much didn't have to wait which was good. However, things went downhill from there: the middle age lady who sits in the second table from the door did my gel mani, but for some odd reason she put up a fight for every single little request I made. Right off the bat, since I have very dry cuticles, i asked to please soak them a little bit before she cut the cuticles. She insisted that it's not good to get the nails wet before doing gel, as it would not last long, which from experience I know to be untrue. So I told her that is fine with me and I've soaked many times prior to gel mani. She then continued to try to talk me out of it, and finally gave in after I insisted on it. I also had a nail that broke from the middle so I asked her to wrap with silk wrap, and she took out a box of acrylic tip and attempted to put it on and told me that silk wrap wouldn't work. Since I had had it wrapped many times previously, elsewhere, I insisted to have silk wrap. She only obliged when the boss who was sitting next to her told her she could wrap it with silk wrap. Next, she started filing my nails and asked if I wanted square or round to which I replied square. She then told me my nails are "extremely extremely" short, and repeated once more that they are "extremely extremely" short, so square wouldn't work, then proceeded to shape them round. I had to tell her to stop because I said I wanted square, she then repeated that it would not look symmetrical because my nails are "extremely short" and I should do them round. I then had to tell her not to worry, and to go ahead and shape them square. Next comes to the silk wrap, once she put it on, she did a half ass job filing it down leaving the nail looking crooked, and ironically after all that talk of symmetry, the nail was sharp as a 90 degree angle on one corner and slanted on the other. So I asked to shape the sharp corner to match the other corner (since she was all about symmetry), she then said if she filed it down too much it wouldn't look wrapped. So I asked her if she couldn't tell that the two corners looked different, and all I was telling her was to make the two corners look the same, she then repeated that same non-sense again. So now I called the boss over to come over and take a look at it but he just looked at me with a blank stare. Oh, just in case you were wondering, there was no language barrier because we communicated all of this in Chinese. So I had to ask the customer next to me to look at it and ask if she could see that it is asymmetrical, and she agreed that the sharp corner should be filed down a bit. It was only then, that this ridiculous worker agreed to file down the corner that was a 90-degree angle, and all while giving the same unwarranted disclaimer "I'm filing it because this is what you want. Don't say later that it looks like it wasn't wrapped". After all of this, the gel mani came out looking very mediocre, the bottom boarder looked very crooked, which from my experience, means that this is not going to last long. What's more ridiculous than this rogue worker, is that the bosses (husband and wife) witnessed all of the exchanges and not once interfered; all they needed to tell the worker was "GIVE THE CUSTOMER WHAT THEY ASK FOR", it's that simple. This place charges $30 for gel mani and $23 for regular pedi, which is not crazy expensive but certainly not cheap either considering the neighborhood. The poor quality of work and the lack of care for customer service makes me wonder how they expect to survive long in this business. Getting a mani or pedi is meant to be a relaxing/ pampering experience, and getting aggravated negates the whole purpose; I don't know why this business fails to realize this. Needless to say, do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

So my appointment was 4:30. 5:15 I started my pedicure so I wasn't happy about that. They apparently don't honor appointment times. I saw one technician wipe the seat then use the same rag under someone's hands as a towel. Gross. Did not wear gloves only one technician did. Very hot inside no ac. Not very impressed by the aesthetic. The male technician only cut and pushed cuticles did not clean inside the nail It was Very fast and rushed especially for the amount of time I was waiting. He asked for an extra 10 min massage which I declined. He did a regular massage which was pretty good. I was Done at 5:25. If your in a rush I guess this is the place to go but it will be a long wait time to start. I was done in 10 min. Probably won't come back. We'll see. read more

Massages by Patrick (I think) are really good. He offers chair massages or private room. There are two rooms for massage here. One is on the main level towards (door behind one of the pedicure chairs--not the parking lot door usually left open) that room is just as relaxing but natural light comes through and room is smaller. The one Patrick usually takes is on the lower level and there's no natural light as there are no windows, bigger room and very quiet. He's very comforting and will get your knots out. Usually have 2 massage ppl on staff but they're usually busy with nail appointments so come early or call in to book them before you make your way down here. I was hesitant to try this salon out after my last new salon experience but I desperately needed a fill in and was not planning a trip to Long Island anytime soon. After many phone calls to salons in my area I found l&k. Like I said in my previous reviews I get the old school acrylic nails done with the brush and powder and it's really difficult to find a salon that still uses that method. I arrived on a weekday around 430pm and the salon was relatively empty. I got one of the best pedicures I ever had by Jason followed by a vigorous 10 minute leg and foot massage. It was actually painful but I felt great after it was done. Pain is beauty, right? I'm pretty particular about my pedicures but Jason did everything right without me having to tell him anything. I don't know the name of the woman who did my fill in, but she commented on how my old set was very thick and unnatural looking (which it kind of was - Long Island salon style) and some of them were lifting so we did a whole new set. She was quick and painless (except for the removal of the old set - which is painful anywhere you go). I was worried about her use of the electric files (some technicians do a quick, sloppy job which results in getting burned and cut with the file) but she was very careful. The new set was much thinner than I received from any other salon so I was worried about how durable they'd be over the next few weeks but I'm about 2 weeks out and there's no lifting on any of the nails. Also, all of my nails are the same length. I usually fine that the technicians don't take the time to make sure of that and I go home with a longer thumbnail than the rest, or a stumpy index fingernail. They don't have a big color selection, but they do have matching gel & regular nail polish color sets.... for your gel manis & regular pedis. I saw that they have the chrome powder which I'm interested in trying on my next visit. Their prices are pretty reasonable, I pay almost the same on Long Island. I think I paid 76 for a pedi, massage, and a full set with gel polish. Also, they're open 7 days a week. There are about 5 pedi seats and 4 or 5 nail stations so I imagine they're busy busy busy on a Friday night and Saturdays so it may be best to come in on a weekday if you can. Came here for full set acrylic it wasn't even busy so I said why not. I got sat with a older lady and kinda from the beginning I should have know something would go wrong. When she was placing down the nail extension they where crooked already. I didn't say anything because I figured it would be fixed by the time she get to shape them with the acrylic. I ended up deciding for a square shape. Every time i do square shape it's never wide but this time she was making it so wide. As she was trying to get the shape it was becoming even crooked and I tried telling her where to fix and she was not getting it. On top of that I asked her if she can get a new nail file because the one she was using on me was worn out, like it need to be tossed. Instead she looked at me and continued completely ignored me. Went on filing trying to fix my nails but I couldn't let her keep going so I told her to cut them of because they did not look nice. So the one that sits in the first chair tried to help out but still couldn't fix what was already damage. So the older lady cut them down and said I could go. If it was done by some with even more experience this would have never happened. I should have looked somewhere else. read more

I took my sixteen year old daughter to get her nails done. She was getting acrylic nails for the first time and she was very excited. I left my daughter at the nail salon while I ran some errands. I send my husband to pay for the nails and he tipped the nail tech and when my daughter got home we noticed how horrible her nails came out. The lady that did her nails did a messy job. She didn't bother to file or clean my daughters cuticles. Very unprofessional! You could also tell they speak bad about people in their language. Well first off I used to go to Connie nails right across from l & k nail salon & I regret coming here because first the quality of treatment was very bad . I got a pedicure done and let me tell you it was my worst experience ever . Both me and my mom came here thinking it would be a great idea for a change of salons but guess what?! we were just in shock . They don't have no experience whatsoever about cleaning the cuticle area and they're very dirty . She used the same towel to dry my feet that she had placed right before getting my toes done then She had squeezed the excess of towel and dried my feet with it again . Are you serious ?? A salon with no warm towels and they don't know how to paint nails come on !! What a waste . Her tip was two dollars and it should've been just zero because this is not proper way of treating your customers okay ! Connie I guess I'll see you for my next visit ! There are several nail salons within close distance of each other on Grand Avenue. In my opinion, this is the most hygienic-looking one. I've been here several times, and although my experience has been different each time, my most recent visit will most likely be my final one. If i'm going to trust a stranger to use tools on me, I want the experience to be as comfortable and pain-free as possible. Unfortunately, I always find myself having to tell the manicurist to be easy pushing back or cutting cuticles. In fact, this last time I asked that they not cut my cuticles. She did and she cut me. The final straw was when I was paying, the receptionist charged me $23. I usually pay $20 during the week, and $3 isn't a big deal but I don't appreciate being stiffed, especially if I'm a regular. read more
