Best L&L I've ever been to! I usually order Chicken Katsu regular size ($9.82). This place has it bomb!!! All the other L&L's that I have tried around the Bay Area their chicken was either over cooked, undercooked and or soggy. This L&L makes it fresh to order. Juicy and crispy chicken katsu all the time! Can't complain. Since it's Covid times, take out only. Also, you can't enter the restaurant. You have to order by phone before you pick it up. He will give your fresh to made order through the door in exchange for your cash payment. Yes, unfortunately this location is CASH ONLY, but to me it's definitely worth it. There was a period of time where I didn't have a phone, so I couldn't call to order. He would always help me by just taking my order through the door even when it was a very busy day. I'm realizing lately that I frequent alot of Hawaiian BBQ spots! This one is so close to home but yet I never really come here! Yet every time I do, I wonder why I don't stop in more. It's mostly because they are cash only honestly but recently they started taking online orders for pickup which is a good workaround. The employees at this location are always so friendly! I have never been to a take out spot where I feel so welcome no matter who is working the counter. I recently ordered the seafood combo and I must say I was a little disappointed with how the fish turned out. It was very soggy and didn't have much flavor compared to some of thoer competitors. However I've always really enjoyed the BBQ chicken at L&L. I'm definitely going to stop in more now that they are offering a way to pay that's not cash! Next time I'll stick to the chicken is all. read more

This is a shady business. Don't buy here. 1. The overhead menu has outdated prices. For example, a bowl that's listed on the overhead menu for $7 is now $12. That's a 71% increase. 2. There's an automatic 4% "convenience fee" added to your bill. This is a scam. They've already hiked their prices 71% and now they'll nickel-and-dime you for another 4%. Why don't they just hike their prices 75% across the board and call it a day? Better yet, they should just give up on life and go out of business so somebody honest can take their place. SHADY AF. The food is average. Next time I'll just go to the Panda Express next door. Or get a prepared meal from Safeway across the parking lot. read more

All menu prices when up. 7.99 to 13.99 for a Mini Chicken Katsu. Came out to a little over 16 after tax when paying with card. Over priced and undercook food. I don't recommend. read more

I usually get a small Chicken Katsu or Chicken Teriyaki. You get a scoop of rice and macaroni salad. It's always enough food for me and I don't eat the rice. Of the several Hawaiian places I visit across the greater Bay Area, the katsu here is the best version. The chicken is perfectly breaded and cooked and the sauce has the ideal amount of spice and sweetness. They only take cash. Be prepared. I will be back. read more

I work by the plaza that hosts this L and L. Hawaiian food is always my go-to because it is tasty and filling. Specifically at this location, I always order the loco moco and I always am satisfied. 100%. There is one gentleman who is always there running the orders and taking down the orders on the phone. He is a sweet, caring, thoughtful, hard worker and deserves all of the credit. I wanted to get catering and he helped me choose the menu. He was patient with me through the whole process. Even now, he's always asking questions about my work and how I'm doing. He makes the experience that much better. 5 stars because he deserves it. read more

Long overdue review! Back when I lived in Daly City, I used to come to this L&L all the time. Tucked away in a little plaza in Pacifica, it's a lesser known, family owned L&L. I've only ever had good dining experiences here. The food is always fresh, my go-to was always the garlic shrimp with brown rice and the portions are big! Staff are super friendly, there's a ton of parking, and it's a great pit stop before heading to half moon bay. Whether it's musubis or bbq plates, I'll def be back! read more

The yummy smell walking by brought us in today. Walking in we were greeted by the front counter and asked what we would like to have. After ordering, he mentioned a special and it sounded amazing! Pork belly, pickled onions and Hawaiian rolls. We ordered a pair and took a seat. The gentleman brought our food right out and we dug in. The special was amazing and had perfect flavor! I had the chicken katsu curry mini ($6.99). For the price, I didn't expect to get so much food. They give so much chicken katsu! Its definitely enough for lunch. It was cooked really well too, the outside had a slight crunch, perfect breading, and was tender and moist inside. It comes with rice and macaroni. Usually I don't like macaroni that much, but I did like theirs because it was a little lighter on the mayo. I've been to other L&L's, and this was my favorite one. read more

I decided I wanted spam musubi so we stopped by L&L Hawaiian. We got the spam musubi and the bbq chicken with rice and Mac salad. The musubi hit the spot. I split the chicken plate with my husband, much to his dismay, because I ate all the Mac salad. It was SOOOO GOOD. Don't get me wrong, the bbq chicken was definitely delicious as well, but as a lover of carbs, this Mac salad hit all the right notes. It reminded me of Mac salad my grandmother made when I was little. I wanted to go back just for that but we couldn't get back by in time. I remembered the guy told my husband that the grill closed at 5pm. For simple Hawaiian fare, I recommend this place. They should be busier than they are. read more

Grabbed these two musubi's before leaving Pacifica that day. The musubi was pretty solid; crispy chicken katsu and flavorful bbq chicken teriyaki, however, the ratio of rice to meat was really off (the meat was rly thin compared to the huge chunk of rice). I don't know how they stay in business. They obviously don't care about their customers. They can't keep their own hours. Grill closes 1/2 hour before they close, no problem. However, I walked in at 5:18 (42 minutes before closing) after less than two minutes, I was asked if I was "Placing an order, or picking up". I said placing an order, he said "Grill is closed". If anyone thinks this is actually what Hawaiian food tastes like.... It's not! It doesn't! Real Hawaiians wouldn't feed this garbage to their dogs. read more

I work around the shopping center where this L&L is located. All the staff here is amazing! They are super friendly and very courteous. I eat from here 1-2 days a week because their food is pretty tasty and very inexpensive. They have signs all over the place where it states that they are cash only, If you place an order over the phone, they will make sure to inform you that the business is cash only. There is a bank next door in case you need cash or forget to get cash. read more

I love Hawaiian food and this place did not disappoint. We got the seafood combo, BBQ plate and the Kalua pork lunch combo. The kalua pork was so tender and juicy. The BBQ plate was delicious, especially the beef. And the seafood platter, everything was so crispy and tasty. We also really liked the macaroni salad! Yum. I have nothing but good things to say about this L&L location!! Service: the staff is SUPER friendly and Steven truly cares about the customers! They always let me take my time to decide and have ideas on what I should get if I'm in a certain mood. Even the cooks wave hello while you are ordering. Food: amazing!!!! There's constantly new items on the menu that I've never seen at any other location and it comes out hot and quick. Everything is super fresh and looks yummy. I loved the beef ramen, crispy shrimp, and Mac salad. The spam musibi will always be one of my favorites!! My husband always gets the grilled items like the chicken or beef and always enjoys it (he is super picky). Location: it's situated in a cute town center that is very convenient to pick up dinner for the family and plenty of parking! The inside is super clean and welcoming! We do come here occasionally to either dine in or carry out but either option is great! read more

Excellent food. About what you would expect for portion size and quality. I've eaten as other L&L's in the past including those in Hawaii (Lihue). And other Hawaii style places. (SPAM is my friend!) But Watch IT on the Yelp Discounts! The bastards here don't manage their Yelp page well. So when You browse to their Yelp site and get the discount presented they will say "we don't accept that discount". When asked why the will claim to have not control of their own Yelp Page. Their defensive style of backing out of the Yelp offer did not come across very honestly either. (see my Android phone screen shot) Another thing,, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Pacifica only takes CASH. They will happily direct you to an ATM where I would assume they are getting a cut of the overpriced ATM fees. Grrrr! The rest of the experience was good and the place is certainly clean. Overall I would lover to give this place a higher score and I just might do so in the future. But for now I would recommend they get a better handle on their Yelp site offers, and also take payment cards, before I kick up their review score a notch. read more

The PERFECT pre or post-beach stop! If you were to look up "love" in the dictionary, you would probably find a picture of me surrounded by a thousand spam musubis. Am I crazy? Probably. Are the musubis that good? Heck yeah! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the dishes but my go to's are the chicken katsu plate and a side of spam musubi. What I love about the chicken katsu here is that the outside is crispy and the inside is juicy! Let me tell ya, it's not easy to perfect it! Also, the musubis aren't greasy compared to the other ones I've had and I just feel a little healthier eating it here. Shhh, don't tell my cardiologist! The dishes are affordable and all taste great. Win win! The service here is wonderful! The staff is friendly and very helpful in helping you with whatever you need. It's been rare to find amazing service and its guaranteed here! We used to come here a lot. Now they give very small portions for the regular, on multiple occasions, also the chicken is not cooked very well. We were also shorted in change on our last visit. Service was nice that is why this review is not a 1 star. it is cash only FYI read more

The food is great and people are friendly! Something interesting I noticed, I guess it's a franchise but this location charges way more and the portions are a lot smaller. If you don't mind driving I'd recommend going to the San Bruno location; my food was about $6 cheaper and nearly double the portion. read more

Really friendly service at this location! Our cashier was incredibly friendly to us and to all the other customers who were coming in. Only taking off one star because I felt like the spam musubi wasn't the best. It tasted fine but I know it could have been better! Chicken katsu tasted good though. The restaurant was clean and organized, the food was ready pretty fast, and the employees were friendly. Overall, good location and I would come again. read more

This one star is for thier unsanitary bathroom. The bathroom is for customers only and is just nasty. I definitely hope there is another bathroom for employees to use as I really don't want to think the person who cooked my food had to "clean" their hands in that bathroom. Food at this L&L is good though as it does compare to other franchise restaurants I have visited here in the bay. read more

Please don't go here. Terrible food. Rice was over cooked. Cabbage was raw and cold. Normally the cabbage is cooked. Asked for teriyaki sauce. She pulled a 1 ounce container out of the fridge for me. And it was see through. Obviously watered down. Other places have sauce available on the counter. And not cold as to cool down my hot food. CASH ONLY - Really??!? Are we stuck in 1980? Sure the decor is but why does everything have to be. On a positive note service was good. But then again tables were sticky. I was the only one in the restaurant during lunch time. read more

Came this L&L yesterday and prices were double than the one in Daly City. Drive the extra 10 mins to the Daly City location and you'll pay half the price and will get a bigger portion. I paid $14 for a plate where I usually get the fries in in the Daly City location. Ridiculous read more

I often go to the L&L in Pacifica. Stephen was always there to help me and he is so friendly. I like everything they make. Kailua pork with cabbage and macaroni salad are our favorites. The garlic shrimp, spam and eggs are all good. It's nice when people appreciate your business and are always happy to help you. read more

Hey Edward, I got game too. Don't be fooled just because I'm an iPhone & Apple geek, like to write, and am addicted with yelping and Facebook. I got better lines than that young skinny vampire. That being said, I came to L&L wanting to try this spot not far from my house. They had a sign in front for a soda and Kalua Pork sandwich for $5. I thought, I like swine, maybe even more than the next guy. I'll order that. The L&L guy brought it to my table. I cracked open the sandwich to see what I was getting into. It had runny Kaluha pork with a pineapple. It didn't look good, and didn't smell too hot neither. And if I've learned anything, it's that "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a crappy Kalua Pork Sandwich. I hate to run a huge Cleveland Steamer on L&L. But next time Edward decides to hit the big screen, giving hickeys, whispering his sweet nothings to Bella, and competing Werewolves for Her love. Cash only!!! All I had was the spam musubi and they were quite good. Not too much food options in the immediate area, but not a bad choice either. In a pinch, not a bad place to stop. I am her mother, and I understand that her safety comes first. What made this even more frustrating was that they wanted me to pay $22 for her soup, even though their menu clearly states that children under 3 years old eat for free. According to the employees, this instruction came from the manager on duty, Robby. We regularly eat at Seapot Sunnyvale, where the service and ambience are always excellent. They simply ask my daughter's age, and because she is only 18 months old, they allow her soup at no charge. They have never measured her height. If the Daly City location follows a different rule, then the instructions on the menu should be updated and clearly explained to customers. Robby, I believe managers should be properly trained before directing employees on how to handle situations like this. Because of this experience, I did not enjoy my food at all. I left feeling frustrated and extremely disappointed. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location.

Wow...maybe Tony P. came here on an "off night" because my experience here made me believe in L&L again. After my horrific experience at the San Bruno location, I was hesitant on going to this L&L...let alone ANY L&L but my friend was from San Francisco said that she made trips down to the coast to pick up food here quite often. I trusted her but told her about my previous experience in San Bruno. She assured me that I would not be disappointed. First of all, I was greeted with a friendly and loud ALOHA. this caught me off-guard but was a nice start to my experience. My friend and I were greeted with another ALOHA when we reached the counter. Before we could ask any questions, the cashier recognized my friend as a regular and greeted her by her name and she quickly introduced me to the cashier. The cashier said ALOHA to me and asked if I had any questions on any menu items, and let me know that I could substitute my rice and macaroni salad for brown rice and tossed salad. I said thank you and ordered my food. I got the special that day, which was a Chicken Katsu & Kalua Pork combination plate. I substituted the white rice for brown but I kept the macaroni salad. My friend ordered the BBQ Mix Plate, which consisted of Teriyaki Chicken, Beef, and Beef Ribs. For dessert, my friend ordered Malasadas, which are fried doughballs coated with sugar. We both shared our plates because I wanted to try the different items. All the items I tried were delicious. The BBQ meats were moist, and very flavorful, but not overly salty. The Chicken Katsu actually had more chicken than breading and it was mighty tasty. The Kalua Pork was not too salty, with a nice smokey flavor and good moistness and texture. The macaroni salad was surprisingly good, considering the macaroni I had at San Bruno. This macaroni didn't taste like mayo, nor was it overly mayo'd. The brown rice was a nice addition to my meal as well. The food, itself, would warrant 5 stars in my book, but they had to add something extra to put them above and beyond what I've experienced at ANY Hawaiian place in the bay. Their service and Malasadas were fantastic. They brought all our food to us, and the cashier made the time to come and ask how everything was going and if we needed anything else. As for the Malasadas, they were wonderful. Nice and crusty on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. The come in orders of 2 or you can order 10 for 6 bucks. I'll definitely be coming back in the morning for the doughballs. I have and will continue to recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

Comfort food. Healthy food. Fast food. Whatever you want. This is my go to whenever I feel like eating my feelings out or it's the special time of the month and I have raging hunger (sorry TMI). I've probably tried everything on their menu and every combination possible, and hands down my favorites are their chicken katsu plate and BBQ mix plate. Their prices aren't exactly what you expect for a fast food restaurant but their portion sizes are hugeeeee like if you're really hungry, and you think you'll be able to finish the whole plate, you'll probably still have some left over. And if you actually manage to finish all the food, you'll hate yourself. I've been to other LnL's and their portions sizes aren't all like this unfortunately... Their chicken katsu is what I live for, literally did this twice a week for a 6 month streak and finally I tried something new. The BBQ mix plate. OH LAWWDDD. The BBQ mix plate gives you the best of both worlds -- it comes with BBQ chicken and beef short rib. Massive amounts. Binge heaven. Super tender, juicy and flavorful. And currently my new obsession :) If you're a meat lover, do this one. No ragrets. P.S. you can substitute the BBQ chicken with katsu too. Pro tip... I like to mix things up. If you're looking for a mouthgasmic beach snack, get: 1) an order of fries well done, 2) a side of Kailua pork, 3) Tartar sauce and ketchup 2:1 ratio. Mix it all up. Thank me later. I can see why the other reviews say the service is a hit or miss but I honestly haven't had a bad experience and I don't really care because if you're eating here, you're probably here for the food and not some bougie dining experience, right? Although there are many dishes here that are executed very well, there's one dish here that is a stand-out. This is one dish that has disappointed me time and time again at countless other places, except this location. The one dish that I'm talking about is the Chicken Katsu. There have been so many times that I've tried Katsu that was too thin, too much breading, over-fried, under-fried, not enough flavor, etc, etc. This location has it down to perfection. There have been so many times that I've observed more than half the dining room here eating Katsu. That's why I think that Nessreen H. has either gone to the wrong location, or is just hating because first of all, this is the cleanest location I've ever been to, with framed pictures, and t-shirts of all the surf contests this location has sponsored. This location is endorsed by all the local surf shops, including Nor Cal Surf Shop. Why would these places with high reputations endorse a place that Nessreen described in her review? Doesn't make sense. It's one thing when you hate on a place because it really DOES suck, and it's another thing when you hate on a place with total lies. I had coupons for this specific location and said that they did not accept them when it clearly states that it is valid at this location only. They would not even substitute items for their combos while other locations were happy to do so at no extra charge.
