Erik, our server and bartender, had such a pleasant and sincere personality. He was attentive, friendly, and made our visit enjoyable. The manager, Alexis, also stopped by our table and asked if we usually visit the Walnut Creek location. I was pleasantly surprised when he remembered us from there! He had previously been a server at the Walnut Creek location and is now a manager. That says a lot about his dedication to the restaurant and his commitment to taking care of his customers. The fact that he remembered us and took the time to come over and say hello really showed how much he values his guests. I ordered the 3 taco platter, miso soup, and a coconut margarita and it was amazing as usual! As always, Rocky enjoyed his chicken and rice from the pet menu! I also want to mention Elaine, who was one of the servers here. She happened to see us and came over to say hello, which was such a nice surprise. Both the appetizer and entree were so delicious!! The chips weren't oily one bit, and the flavor of the chip itself tasted so fresh, so amazing. It didn't need anything to dip, but the poke was oh so perfect. It had just the right amount of sauciness. My salmon over quinoa was perfectly cooked, the portions with everything else (avocado, turnip, lettuce) was juuuust right. I'm a saucy girly, and it was the perfect amount of sauciness. She took forever to order from me and my friends, only stopped by once, and didn't ask if we wanted dessert, she just dropped the check and dessert menu at the same time and didn't say anything (why is a 12 oz sparkling water charged as a 26oz?). Everything was mid. I got a lychee luau drink which was terrible, that I didn't even end up drinking. It had way too much of the sweet and sour or whatever mixer they use. No lychee flavor at all. The calamari was undercooked and the poke bowl was not the best flavoring. I pretty much left after a few bites. Their steak Sriracha tacos were decent, a little chewy but okay. Been about a week since I went to this restaurant, and I'm definitely coming back for the Sushi alone! I've never really tried sushi before, and this was a FANTASTIC introduction to it. It often happens on rainy days and you need to sign up for text alerts to stay on top of these. if you happen to catch the bowl promo at Aloha hour, get ready to eat well and be shocked by the bill in a good way! Today started with a delicious Guavarita and the savory sweet Brussels ( $9 and $5 respectively. The drink was a tropical treat and the unclean part of my meal. Expect to pay $15 for this cocktail when not in the bar during Happy Hour. My protein packed Sashimi Bowl ( add crab salad ) was chock full of sashimi ( yellow tail, ahi and salmon) the seaweed salad, and perfect ripe avocado and greens round out the meal. A squeeze of citrus and generous dollops of orange tobiko brighten every bite of this dish. At $35 this dish is worth it, but for $27 it is two generous healthy meals of the freshest sashimi! I never forget to weigh in on iced tea. I loved the lemongrass tea they used to serve slightly more than the tropical tea, but it is still great and ordering it kept me from ordering a second guavarita. My youngest son will be delighted with the Wasabi poke bowl that is waiting for him when he gets home from work tonight ( another chance to us that $8 promo). Many places only let you use one promo or a a time. Pacific Catch lets you take advantage of Happy Hour pricing. as well as special promos Factor in their generous rewards program and the savings are almost silly. We celebrated Mother's Day early and 5 of us made a reservation at the Pacific Catch in San Mateo on a Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and service since Pacific Catch is a chain with 15 restaurants on the west coast. I didn't expect a single proprietorship vibe. I had fish and chips with a side of asparagus, my wife and her sister had miso cod, her husband had the steak and rib combo and my wife's mother had a salmon sandwich and we shared a tempura shrimp roll. My fish and chips were very good, nice batter, fish was fresh, thin French fries were slightly crispy with a light dusting of salt, tartar sauce had a little bit of a bite and the grilled asparagus was perfect, nice seasoning and grilled perfectly firm, not al dente or soft. My wife and her sister thought the Miso Cod was very fresh, tender and good flavor, the Furikake rice had good seasoning and fresh, and the sesame string beans cooked perfectly too as well as good seasoning. My brother-in-law liked his steak and ribs which he always gets when he goes to Pacific Catch. He likes the flavor and says both are cooked so they are not dry. He likes that it comes with an over easy egg and kimchi fried rice. My mother-in-law loved her salmon sandwich, nothing fancy, grilled just right so it was not dry with a soft bun. She liked the freshness and ingredients of the side salad. The big surprise was the sushi since this is a seafood restaurant and not a Japanese restaurant. The sushi was shared and beat the initial low expectations, it was good. The restaurant gave my mother-in-law a free Dulce de Leche and Spring Roll with cream cheese dessert. The ice cream was delicious and the cream cheese spring roll was good too. I stopped by Pacific Catch in San Mateo today just before noon for an early lunch. Some locals had the same idea and were seated in the main dining area. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The grog regulars had not arrived yet, so I opted for a quieter table near the bar. My waiter, Everardo, was friendly and very professional. I kinda put him on the spot by asking him to choose either the fish 'n chips or the grilled salmon sandwich for my midday repast. He recommended the fish 'n chips platter. The platter arrived and looked scrumptious. I tasted the slaw. It lacked the piquant flavor I had anticipated. It was not bland but it could have been made a little more savory. The fries... or "chips" as the Brits call them... were very good. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. That is also the way I would describe Alaskan cod pieces. I squeezed a little lemon on all three pieces before trying a bite with some of the jalapeno tartar sauce. Ah, there's the zesty flavor I was waiting to enjoy. The cod was mild and moist inside. I tried a bite or two sans tartar, but like the slaw, the cod needed a little palate enhancer. I splashed on some malt vinegar and voilà! The tangy malt vinegar really brought out the rich flavor of the Alaskan cod. I can recommend Pacific Catch for lunch. I am obsessed with their Latin Chimichurri Salad with Kampachi and the WestCoast Style Salad with Grilled Marinated Tofu.
