I know this place is most known for their teas, slushies, and boba, but we come here for dim sum and Cantonese dishes. It's some of the best food around in this style. The beef chow fun is savory and delicious, not too greasy. We love the green beans, walnut shrimp, and clay pot rice too. We had a whole steamed sea bass with ginger and scallions and it was sooooo tasty. Dim sum items are delicious too and can be ordered all day. Their food is great for takeout, but if you want a table, the restaurant is tiny, with only one table large enough to accommodate a big group. They do take reservations and welcome pre-ordering dishes that take longer like clay pot rice, duck, or whole fish. We enjoyed a wonderful Chinese New Year dinner with my MIL and were grateful to have a reservation. read more

The buttermilk bun with coconut flakes I got started getting moldy after a day... I placed it in a cool and dry environment. I was so disappointed. Maybe they should tell customers to store it in a fridge. I know it's got cream in it and needs to be consumed quickly, but I was still surprised it got moldy after just one day. I've had cream buns before and they lasted longer than that. It made me wonder when it was made. I got other buns as well and the quality wasn't very good. I like other Asian bakeries more. Also, the staff didn't seem very friendly. I waited a bit before I got helped. I probably won't be back. read more

Mango milk tea was bomb dot com. Green beans and eggplant was 10/10. My favorite dish that I tried tonight. Dry flat noodles were a 9/10 just because it was a bit heavy on the oil. I ordered the tiramisu and fruit sponge cake which both were really soft and delicious. I would definitely go back to try other pastries. The only downfall is the prices. The 8 inch tiramisu cake was about $60 and the 6inch sponge cake was about $25. read more

I order over the phone on Easter Sunday . I was happy they were open. The food was really good , the service was awesome , they even brought it out to my car, Super generous! I order a bunch of different items, from dimsum and dishes on the menu. Dimsum was a little bit pricey but so worth it! The Sesame Ball (Custard)- way good!!!! Custard Buns- omg so good The place is small, but we didn't eat there. It looks like they remodeled from the last time . Word of advice to carryout customer, check you food before you leave the store. Purchased a whole roasted duck and picked up from the store. Got home and checked, missing one duck leg, half of neck, no head, i dont know what else could be missing, the box seems light than usual. Called back to store, they claimed they must cut it too small or i lost the piece on the way home. Too funny! I wandered into this bakery when I was nearby at another business and wanted a treat. It's not the typical bakery you'd find around these parts-fewer sweet treats, more pastry and breads. Since it was late in the afternoon, the shelves were pretty picked over, but I did leave with a couple fruit tarts and mini cheesecake. Service was friendly-the guy behind the counter offered some suggestions when he learned that it was my first time in. I noticed that they have a good variety of drinks, including the ever-popular boba. There are a couple tables where you can sit and eat, but I got my goodies packaged to go and enjoyed them at home where I opted to share with my family. Because I'm nice like that. read more

Very cute family business, tucked away. I'm neither Chinese nor have I visited China, but a lot of people say it's very authentic, and I believe them. The food was different than chain Chinese restaurants, and very tasty. We had roast duck (highly recommend) dim sum, and some fun desserts from the bakery (some I recognized, some I didn't. In any case, it was very filling and incredibly flavorful. Great place to go alone or with a group. CALL AHEAD AND MAKE A RESERVATION. Make sure you can get a table (very small, very popular), and most of the big items are made ahead of time and need to be called beforehand to get started. The staff was great; the girl that served us was adorable, and they were all very attentive and fun. Might be my new favorite place in the SLC area. read more

Finally was able to try this place since they reopened! It's a very cozy Taiwanese style bakery. They have homemade soy milk, boba drinks, food, bread, and dim sum. We come from California in a predominately Chinese area so we really miss this type of shop. My husband said the pork bun was pretty good but very buttery. They don't have any vegan options so I couldn't try any bread. I did get the soy milk and it was really yummy but maybe a little too sweet. I also wish they had fresh milk tea with non dairy milk options. Either way we will be back. :) read more

One of the best Asian fruit cakes in the Salt Lake area! I have not tried all the Asian bakeries in the area yet, but among the ones I have tried, L&P has the best Asian fruit cakes!! If you like light, airy, fresh cream types of cakes, you should definitely try L&P's fruit cakes. Their cakes are also not too sweet. I do what I can to find and try boba tea places, and I'm glad I tried this one. I got the coffee boba tea, unsweetened. It was super flavorful. The young man helping me was very helpful and knew his menu. I left with coconut bread, which I really enjoyed. It was a really light and airy bread, with a light coconut flavor. For what it's worth, their bakery items are also at Ocean Mart (or vice versa), if you're closer to one than the other. I will be back, and would come more regularly if it were closer to my work. I went in at 3pm on a Saturday for boba. They were sold out of That Tea. I then proceeded to order a Milk tea. There was only enough black tea for 1. I proceeded to leave when my husband was kind enough to take a green tea. Don't get the brown sugar boba. Tastes like jelly. Yum! Fresh baked savory and sweet breads and a very nice selection and they've never been out of the items I like to grab like their custard bun or pork buns. Those two are my favorite and are done so well here I candy stop coming back for them. They have boba as well and each time I order the blended version they are done well too. The gentleman that is usually there is very nice as well ensuring you will have a good experience stopping in. The dim sum is very authentic and made from scratch. We just came back from Asia and these dim sum is at excellent quality as Asia if not more. They are better than many San Francisco dim sum places. Excellent service, very efficient. Will definitely come back next time we come to Utah. read more

At a quick glance they serve boba, slushies, buns, bread, cookies, and cakes. You have to gravitate towards their savory and sweet buns. The bun consistency is on point. It's like soft heaven clouds, if that was a way to describe something extremely soft and airy. Try the pork bun, coconut bun, and pineapple bun! I was also able to try their moon cakes and egg custard. The moon cakes are so adorable as they are minis! I personally think that's a good size because normal sized moon cakes are honestly just too much haha. My least favorite item was the egg tart. I like my tart creamy and this has a consistency of jello. Great place to quickly grab something on the go and they can also make customize cakes for party events. This place reminds me of bakeries I used to visit out of state. I am super glad we have a fresh Asian bakery that could be a replica of them. read more

They finally have their own storefront. Their original location inside of OceanMart still is there to serve the meats and other savory items alongside the baked goods. This location is just baked goods and beverages. Since the baking for both locations come from here now the baked items are the same. It's nice to see everything individually wrapped. I expect the cases to be more full when they find their groove. I want to be able to get my egg tarts at any hour! I only had a chance to try a couple of items but they were on par with what I've had from them before. read more

While visiting SLC this past weekend, I discovered an amazing little restaurant in Sandy, UT, serving Cantonese dim sum. I was delightfully surprised by the high quality hand-made dim sum in their presentation and tastes that matched the best Chinese restaurants in the SF - Bay Area. I discovered it was a family business operated by 3 generations of the same family with the youngest generation managing the customers in the front and the grandparents staffing the kitchen. The restaurant interior was modern in design; the service was efficient and friendly, and the food was served timely. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience the taste of authentic Cantonese comfort food. L & P recently opened in the small shopping center located next to the Sandy DI. It is a smallish spot, with no seating (or maybe one table in the corner? I cannot recall), but many shelves and cases displaying all manner of sweet and savory baked goods. I've now stopped by a couple times, and while their glass cases generally near empty, whatever is contained inside will be delicious. My absolute favorite is the crepe cake, with a crisp crème brûlée style top, slight citrus flavor, and perfect cake to filling ratio. The tiramisu is also fantastic, with light rum and coffee flavors that do not overwhelm, as is often the case. Maybe a touch of cinnamon, too? The filling is custardy, but fluffy, with a thick, slightly crunchy ladyfinger crust. I have also had several yummy cookies, and nothing is ever too sweet. Sadly, I always seem to arrive too late for the chocolate cupcakes, which have now reached a near epic status in my imagination. In fact, the only complaint I can really make is that I wish there were more chocolate treats. However, I know that's not popular at Asian bakeries, so I can't say much! I have not tried any of the savory items, but many are offered, filled with a variety of meats, even egg! I've spied towering squishy loaves of white bread, and even elusive and trendy egg tarts, fluffy Japanese cheesecake, and mooncakes. There is a small cooler filled with basic soft drinks like Coke and Sprite, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you chose that over the myriad teas with several options of boba and toppings, plus slushies and coffees, too! Lastly, they have made to order cakes in SO MANY flavors and sizes. Each time I've visited, the same young man has assisted me, and he is so friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and just generally being lovely and cheerful. Prices are standard bakery cost for the area, some items a bit lower. I did not realize until recently, that this is an offshoot of the bakery originating in Ocean Mart! I am sad to think I have walked by that restaurant many times and never stopped to take a gander. Oh, the delicious treats missed out on! Guess I'll just have to make up for lost time! read more

The best steamed char sil baos (bbq pork buns) in town! My toddler will not eat char sil baos from anywhere else because nothing else compares. The meat to steam bun ratio is perfect , with a generous amount of moist bbq pork. If you're taking them home to eat, I recommend microwaving them for about 20 seconds. Ocean Mart still has a L&P Bakery inside the store btw. They have a large selection of fresh baked goods and pastries. They have all my favorites : baked char sil bao, steamed char sil bao, pineapple bun, custard bun, egg custards, wife cakes, pound cake, the list goes on. :) I have made a large order for their pastries before , and they did a great job at accommodating, everything was freshly made right before my pickup time. L & P has just reopened today. I couldn't wait to go back for their Asian cookies and cake. I was surprised to find that they have revamped their menu. Apparently during their closure the family went back to China to get some update for dim sum cooking. I have to say they have brought authentic dim sum and Chinese food to Sandy. I ordered a Wonton noodle soup, pork bun and har gow just to try their updated dishes. I was totally stoked by the Wonton that was filled with chunks of shrimp rather than the mouse mix of shrimp and pork. The flavor of the thin noodles with the broth was transcendent. This took me back to the days back in Oakland and SF where it was my favorite homey meal to eat. I have to say the Wonton noodle soup was every bit as good as they made there in CA. The BBQ pork bun was right on for taste with the bun hot and pillows soft and the pork was right on for taste. The Har gow was also made fresh and filled with shrimp without filler veggies. Their milk tea was also terrific with a great tea base flavor and not overly sweet. I would run and not walk to L & P to try genuine dim sum in Utah. I can't wait to order their main dishes which is new for them as well. If their mapu tofu is from China origin then we have a real winner here. read more

I've been on the hunt for some Asian cakes in the valley. I ordered two 6" cakes for a party of 6 - black forest and fruit. They were about $22-24 each. There were plenty of leftovers for the next day. The fruit cake was delicious and tasted fresh. The black forest cake, however, was not as good as I had hoped. I've had lots of black forest cakes from LA and the flavor of the cherries on this cake, as well as the flavor of the chocolate cake itself, was just not up to par. Although I feel that the prices are a bit high for a 6" cake, there are plenty of other cake choices on their menu so I am open to trying a different one next time. read more
