I was very very pleased to find such a niche little Vietnamese coffee shop in SLC! Salt City Che rivals what I've had in Sac/Elk Grove, where there are plenty of Vietnamese coffee shops. We were stopping in SLC for a few days on our way to and from CO and I cannot go anywhere without getting some sort of Asian fix, and while I was looking for Vietnamese food/drinks, I came across Salt City Che and it was highly recommended. Well let me tell you the viet coffee and matcha is legit. I'm a big fan of ube, and both times I got drinks with ube foam, which was so smooth and decadent without overpowering the drinks. Both times my husband got viet lattes and those were also delicious. I also tried their banh cuon (steamed rice rolls) and the friendly staff member asked me if I wanted it heated up, which I did. It was the perfect light on-the-road lunch. They even have banh mi and various desserts too. Generally, on a trip I try to go to as many local spots as I can, so when I make a repeat visit, it means a place is extra special to me. Hands down the best Vietnamese coffee we've tried in Utah! We ordered the Coconut Ube Coffee and the Salted Cream Coffee. The coffee was strong and smooth, the cream had the perfect amount of sweetness and wasn't too overpowering. We also tried the honeycomb cake, and we got it warmed up and it was so divine! It was the perfect chewy and bouncy texture, and had a light delicious pandan/coconut flavor. Customer service was great, and it looked very clean and organized inside. Salt City Che is located off of Redwood Road right before 3500 S if you're driving North. Within a small newly built strip mall. It is owned by the same local business owners of Pho 777 which is in the same strip mall. Salt City Che has various signature drink options, smoothies, fresh juice/soy milk, and milk/fruit teas. There were an assortment of Che options as well as a few food options available. I came with a friend to try the egg cream coffee and ended up getting a Coconut Ube Matcha Latte and rice rolls as well. Everything I sampled was simply delicious. I did not sample any Che on this visit, but I will definitely be back to do so. I'm sure I will try some more of their other food options as well. Super clean space. Kind and helpful staff. Even a photo opportunity inside the space with their business name. There's just a few high bench seats against the window if you want to eat in otherwise it's more of a takeout situation. I highly recommend trying this locally owned business. You won't regret it. read more

Got recommended this place because I've been hunting for an authentic Vietnamese coffee spot, and I think Salt City Che is the one!!! I actually don't like coconut or ube, but for some reason coconut ube viet coffee tastes divine to me, so whenever I see it on the menu I pick it right away. Usually based off this specific drink I determine if a place is solid or not, and omg the coconut ube viet coffee here was sooo delicious. The cream was not too overpowering and was light and creamy. The coffee was strong and when paired together it's literally the best combo. The shop is quite small, BUT for their size they have such a huge variety of drinks, sweet treats, desserts, snacks, and even meals! The staff were very kind and patient as I stood there and dissected their menu. There's parking right in front of the plaza. Very cute Vietnamese cafe with a fresh made Vietnamese dessert and food. We got the popular Vietnamese ube coffee and I am obsessed!!!! The ube on top is a semi-sweet whipped flavor/texture on top of traditional Vietnamese coffee. I was worried it'll be too sweet but it wasnt at all, it was honestly perfect. I could seriously drink that everyday! The Che is made fresh daily along with the traditional desserts and jelly. A must try is the che ba mau! But my absolute favorite is the ube jelly! Also, not too sweet and best served cold. A friend got the pandan and said if wasn't a strong pandan flavor if that works for you! For food, they do quick grad and go options! Great for lunch. More options than you would expect for a small cafe! Banh mi is made fresh daily as well. They were putting out more as we got there! This place is a hidden gem. Their Avocado Dessert drink is so good! I recommend getting it mixed with the coconut milk and with less ice. Hands down best matcha in Salt Lake. I've had both their normal matcha latte and the strawberry matcha latte and both are incredible. Parking is available in a small lot but didn't have trouble finding a spot both times I visited. I tried the salted cream Vietnamese coffee and the honeycomb cake. The coffee had that strong, traditional Viet flavor and was absolutely delicious. The honeycomb cake however was on the dry side so I wouldn't order that again. Yummy Viet desserts!!!! I love the banh bo nuong. It definitely has the honeycomb chewy texture and a nice mild coconut and tapioca taste. The cassava cake is sweet on top. It has a heavy texture so one slice goes a long way. The puddings are okay. They are less traditional in taste and texture. I would not recommend unless you are used to these types of bean and rice drinks. read more

This place has so many foods and drinks to try. It would probably take at least 4-5 visits to try everything we want to try. This first time we got 3 dishes and a drink/dessert. The service was amazing. They were quick and happy to help. It's a little small in there so it can get crowded fast. It's more of a grab and go place. There is a little parking lot in front but it can get full quickly. If you can, go during the week. We parked in the parking lot to the north of it. I really liked the fruit cocktail I got. They added lots of crushed ice and coconut milk. We also got sweet red sticky rice (which came with extra toppings), a cassava cake and a rice cake. They were all good too. The price is about what you would expect. We definitely will go back to try more foods and drinks. I hope they stay around for a while. read more

They have a good selection of stuff. We got to try the Egg coffee, Ube Coconut coffee, Salted cream coffee, and the Biscoff Viet latte. Wasn't a fan of the egg coffee or the biscoff latte. They had a weird taste to me. The Ube and salt coffee were good, not the best we've had but I think it's worth a try. The inside is decorated very nice. It was cute and pretty minimal. Che prices are about doubled what you get at some Asian supermarkets here in the valley. I can get Che Thai, Ba Mau, Black eye peas, Dau Trang etc ... for $3.50 or less elsewhere. Coffee is decent but again pricey. It's good to visit once in awhile ... read more

This is the best coffee anywhere. We drive all the way from South Ogden at least 2 or 3 times a week for this. The Salted Cream is my favorite but all are good. Super strong coffee flavor and the salt puts it over the top and adds flavor. This is my favorite coffee I have ever had. Ditch the chain burned coffee store and try this. read more

It's so overpriced here and not worth it. For how much you're paying, you would think you would be getting the best, but honestly it doesn't even compare. The Che is super watery. No flavor. The other desserts are sad. I am not sure who owns it, but needs improvement for a Vietnamese dessert place. The ones at the grocery store taste better. read more
