this place is a scam. at least for groupon users. they take people who obviously can't afford a bunch of dental expenses (and therefore use a groupon for a cleaning), bring them in for the most aggressive cleaning ever with a rude hygienist, and then tell them they have some nonspecific infection that will require thousands of dollars of antibiotics to cure. if you search "groupon" on their reviews, you'll see it's a common scam at this place, and it happened to me as well. if you want (need) to use a groupon, go elsewhere. read more

I was treated by Dr. Damianou and had a very negative experience. After my fillings, I told her my bite felt uneven, but she dismissed me, raised her voice, and made me feel unheard. I was also charged $1,350 for a crown after being told my insurance didn't cover white crowns (which it does), and an extra $75 for Gluma, which my insurance confirmed was covered. All these charges were only disclosed after the treatment had already begun, leaving me with little to no choice. I felt extremely uncomfortable and pressured throughout the entire process. This felt dishonest and exploitative -- if there were a way to take further action, I would. First of all, the office staff are friendly and helpful. As for the rest of the staff, they're a bunch of scam artists. I'm the type of person who brushes her teeth and flosses often, I also don't have health insurance so I go through Groupon. I'm always on top of things and get my dental cleanings every 6 months. The dental staff was super quick with the cleaning ( there was still build up and plaque they didn't take care of) and then they were even quicker to lie to me and tell me I have Periodontitis. They then told me I needed to immediately pay 3k and get this issue resolved. It gave me scammy vibes so I told them I'll think about it. I went back to my previous dentist , Medi Dental in Astoria (AMAZING PLACE!!!!) and they told me my teeth were fine , just a bit of gingivitis ( a bit of water flossing and be brand new again). Thank God I didn't pay the unnecessary 3k and go through with an unnecessary procedure. Please stay away, and save your $. If you don't mind trekking to queens, I recommend Medí Dental in Astoria, even if you don't have insurance they offer $229 for 2 cleanings in a year plus additional discounts for other services. I tried this place recently using a Groupon. Just had a basic cleaning, x-rays and exam. All of the staff, including the receptionist, the dentist and the hygienist were all very friendly and helpful. The hygienist I thought did a fantastic job! I know I've had a good cleaning when there's a bit of pain and I'm a little sore the next day. She definitely went under the gum line and gave me a very thorough cleaning. They suggested, other work that needed to be done, which I've heard from other Dentists so I know they're not just trying to sell me additional services. The dentist came in and discussed issues I had and what she suggested. I'm surprised there are low ratings for this dental office as I had a great experience and would definitely go back again. When I contacted them they don't even offer free consultations, which is customary at most places, let alone low income dental offices. This is taken advantage of poor people. I don't recommend signing ANYTHING. I have been coming here for some time now and I never had any reason to not come back to this place. Some of the ladies the front are nice. However, careless! I was last seen in October 2020. Every time I come here they add stuff to have me pay for things. I have insurance, maybe not the correct one for this location, but I ask questions about cost multiple times. They charged me $400 in October but I didn't get a receipt and I needed it for my health savings plan. So I called January, February, and March multiple times to receive a receipt for my claim. I asked each time if there was any bill I needed to pay just to annoy them. So I finally got that covered and all was right. TODAY I go for a routine check up and after signing multiple forms they hit me with a "you have an additional $170 bill you didn't pay for in October 2020, this will go to collections if you don't pay". So I asked ," do I need to pay this before being seen today ? Why did no one tell me when I called multiple times this year? Or when I made this appointment??" My only response was " it's the patient responsibility to pay the bill" Excuse me?! I Left . Got me alllll the way incorrect! What was the reason to SNEEK that in. We did not have a long wait and I got the care I needed. I have so much relief from the care I got. I had an appointment with son and they took us in at the same time. Routine cleaning and ex rays. The staff was very nice and accommodating I got a fast appointment. Its not a big office or in a fancy building but very warm and family like. ***NO ENDODONTISTS*** I made an appointment to see an endodontist for a possible retreatment of a root canal. I specified it when making the appointment and the receptionist even placed me on hold to check the consultation price. When I got there, the waiting room was crowded but it's also smaller than an average dentist office. I thought I'd have to wait for an hour like the guy next to me but I think people who were coming in for a regular cleaning had to wait longer. The dentist was very nice but he couldn't tell me if I needed a retreatment because he wasn't an endodontist. He told me it would be better to go to a specialist to get the retreatment done. I thought I did make an appointment with an endodontist. $75 later, here I am. Not a clue if I need a retreatment or not.... read more

I will start off by saying that I gave this place and their new staff a chance, actually 3 chances before I decided it was time to go elsewhere. As can be seen in my original review, I came to this practice for over 10 years and saw Dr. Vatrenko. All good things must come to an end, and a few years ago she retired. I still loved Nancy (the office administrator) and some of the dental assistants, so I gave them a shot. I went there for a loose crown, which is right in the front of my mouth, like right next to my 2 front teeth. The dentist that was there took one look at it and said, "oh no, I'm not touching it, I'm not gonna be responsible for it breaking." She basically told me that I have to wait until it falls out. I begged her to do something because I couldn't walk around without the crown if it fell out. She refused, so I began walking out when one of the dental assistants whom I was familiar with, stopped me and apologized for her rude and dismissive attitude and told me he would set me up for an appointment with another dentist there. I gave them another shot and came back. This other dentist, although nicer, would not fix the crown either and told me to try and loosen it up more when I go home and try to remove myself. Needless to say, a year later and after COVID, my crown is still hanging on. I gave them another shot. This time I did not recognize any of the dentists or dental assistants. The only familiar face was Nancy. The dental assistant who did my xrays was not gentle by any means and kept trying to shove, literally, one of the xray things in my mouth. She insisted 3 times for one of the xrays even when I told her that she was "cutting my mouth" with the plastic and I asked if it could be done another way. Not only did she refuse, she told me that she "was not cutting my mouth" and "it just felt like" she was. She then proceeded to stand there and hold the piece in her hand while staring at me and asking, "you're not gonna do it?" I said, "nope." The hygienist who did my cleaning was also rude and very heavy handed. If I am flinching and turning my head away when you're near a certain tooth, that means you are hurting me and you should probably stop and ask if I am ok. When that torture was over, the dentist came in. I showed her the loose crown. She didn't even touch it, she instead looked at the xray and said, "your tooth is loose, not just the crown, you're going to lose the tooth, so you have to figure out what you're going to do." Smfh. I gathered my belongings and walked out, never to return. The management should really take the bedside manner of their dental staff into consideration when they do their hiring. It's possible that they all do awesome work, but their attitudes really suck, and that's something I cannot get past. read more

I hate needles I hate the sounds of being in a dental office I even hate feeling pressure without pain, but I'll say this, Dr.Wong was amazing! I didn't feel a THING!
