Many of them are in their twenties and some of them have just an ok knowledge of products, but everyone I interacted with was very nice. I bought a pretty expensive serum off of a recommendation and ended up having an allergic reaction (not her fault I have really picky skin) and everyone was very apologetic and the return was a breeze. I tracked down almost every associate in the store to see what they'd all recommend, and was pleasantly surprised at all of their knowledge and their willingness to help. I think they were definitely more willing to help people who seem like they will drop some $ here. Which, in all fairness, they are working a sales floor and this is their job. A good trick I've picked up is leading with "price doesn't matter" (even if it does lol) when asking for help, and seeing what they recommend off the bat. If it's out of my range, then I'll ask if they've found a drugstore dupe for the high end product then compare the two. In general, their selection of drugstore options is WAY more limited than ULTAs is. If you want good dupes and more to pick from I'd go to ULTA. Sephora does offer some high end brands and more expensive products in general, but it's a good place to find a nice addition to my normal product lineup. The bulk of my cosmetic shopping is at ULTA and I save Sephora for special splurgy items. I ended up grabbing a laneige moisturizer (I trust anything k beauty) and a inky list redness serum and both have worked beautifully for my skin. I'm looking forward to trying lady Gaga's foundation line. Thanks so much to the associates that helped out and they also give samples which was a nice perk! Looking forward to coming back sometime.

The customer service was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable while I was simply trying to shop. The links they provided were with Ulta and Target. When I looked online for availability Ulta had everything in stock at my Charlottesville store. So I was able to go in and verify the tones I needed for my skin. I needed a better opinion for some close choices and even though the makeup consultant folks were gone for the day (7pm) one of the cashier's was happy to go over to one of the well lit stations and give me excellent advice listening to my needs. I haven't worn foundation or concealer for years because in my career & lifestyle it's not needed. She understood and I am very happy with the e.l.f. products doing exactly what I need. She declined to provide the personal data. The clerk even said we could not cancel the sale in the moment without providing the data. A manager came by and pointed to a sign on the wall with company policy (in small print legalese). In this age of AI it is increasingly important to protect your data where you can. These companies now have data collection and selling that data as a valuable business practice. Be careful and avoid ULTA.
