I felt young and active but my face was prematurely aging. I investigated the Plastic Surgeon's in San Francisco Bay Area and specifically looked for a Plastic Surgeon whose philosophy fit mine, that is to improve and refresh my appearance without looking ridiculous. After meeting with Dr. Charles Lee I realized immediately his philosophy was right for me. His staff was superb in that they guided me through the process without being judgmental. They assisted me in scheduling a surgical date and the staff and Dr Lee were very clear on assisting me in understanding the recovery process so as not to interfere with my schedule. The preoperative process was crystal-clear and they connected with my own health care team to make the pre-op testing easy and seamless. I had an opportunity to meet the circulating nurse and all those involved with my surgery as well as the anesthesiologist who answered all my questions in a clear and concise manner. Dr. Lee performed a lower face lift, a neck lift with liposuction, and a lower eyelid lift. The procedure itself was conducted in a beautiful and clean surgical center adjacent to his offices and they made it very easy for me to be picked up and to go home with adequate medication. The postoperative care was comforting in the fact that his staff and he contacted me on a regular basis to see my progress, and I had convenient post-operative visits where all my questions were answered and I had a very clear understanding of how I was progressing. My recovery was uneventful and increasingly I became very pleased with the results as I recovered. I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience and the results in my mind were superb and were in keeping with my aims and expectations. I went to Dr. Lee for upper and lower blepharoplasty. I was researching for over a year and a half and I went for a consultation. He made me feel at ease right away and so did his staff. I booked my surgery right then and there. I had been considering eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) for 20 years. Finally, after lots of research, I decided on Dr Charles Lee in his office in San Francisco (over 2000 miles from home). I really liked that he had collaborated with surgeons from Korea and knew Asian faces well, since I am Asian myself. I saw that he was trained in the US in microsurgery, so he would have exceptional attention to detail. When I met Dr Lee, he listened carefully and asked me questions about what I wanted and what I didn't want to achieve in my results. I didn't want a lot of big changes, but needed the surgery, which I got in February 2026. It was comfortable and recovery was pretty easy. When I got the local anesthetic, it was painless! The procedure was remarkably painless. In a week, I felt I could go into work meetings. The added benefit and discovery is that my horizontal deep crease on my forehead has disappeared due to my improved vision. In particular, my peripheral vision has substantially expanded. I thought I found the best doctor in sf, but actually this is the thing I regret the most on my face even after years. The doctor cut my double eyelids too deep, removed too much skin and didn't suture well, which made my two eyes completely asymmetrical. After the stitches were removed, the lines were not smooth at all and there was a step-like feeling. When I raised these issues to the doctor afterward, his attitude was bad, many excuse on me and even mocked me as a perfectionist. I was nervous about finding a good place to remove a small hip tattoo, but this spot--formerly a tattoo removal clinic, now a medical cosmetic office--was great. The staff were kind, and both technicians I saw were professional and gentle. After about 12 sessions, the tattoo is nearly gone. I can't speak to larger removals, but for small ones, I highly recommend them. I'm also now doing laser hair removal on my upper lip and looking forward to those results too! read more

TLDR: Don't come here for eyelid surgery unless you want to spend months in dissatisfaction and emotional turmoil while getting 0 assurance from the doctor. Dr Lee botched my eyes and I had to get a revision somewhere else and spend 2X+ the cost just to look ok again. The funny thing is that revision Dr immediately knew Dr Lee did the horrible work because I was not the only one this happened to. Lots of scarring too. DM me if you want more info or photos. Happy to share. I've waited a long time to write this review, specifically 3 years post-op. I've also consulted 2 other surgeons at 6 months post-op so I know I'm not making any false or unreasonable claims. Here we go: Prior to surgery with Dr Lee, I loved my eyes. My crease had a lateral flare that gave the cat eye look and looked so good with winged eyeliner. Over the years, my eyes became a little more saggy and developed multiple creases, so I consulted Dr Lee for Asian blepharoplasty to tighten my lids and make the double eyelids more well defined, all while keeping my lid crease height and shape exactly the same. He took a quick glance at my eyes and confidently said he knew exactly what I want. I asked a few questions, like will I have multiple creases? And he gave very impatient ambiguous response, like "yea yea, those will probably be tightened." Then he rushed me out the office without even offering to show pictures of his previous work. Despite a bunch of other red flags (that I will go into details later), I proceeded with the surgery. Immediate after the surgery, I knew my eyes were messed up. The lateral flare in my right eye was gone. But of course it everyone says to wait for swelling to dissipate before freaking out, so I waited. Fast forward to 6+ months post-op, my eyes look nothing like each other, as they each ended up with their own separate problems. The left crease became loose so I lost the double eyelid on the left eye completely. The other surgeons who I consulted said Dr Lee did not secure the crease properly and left too much excess skin in the inner corners, which caused the fold to fail. The right eye was even worse. Instead of keeping my lateral flare (which I specifically said over and over again that I must keep), I got the opposite. He made the crease height in the inner corners so big and lowered the lateral crease height... so my right eye was literally a triangle. This really pissed me off because I repeated so many times that I want the exact same crease height and shape as before, yet he went out of the way to cut it out and change my eye shape. Anyway, I'm also to blame for this misfortune because there were so many red flags that shows Dr Lee is just not a good surgeon, yet I chose to ignore them, so here I am with one small eye and one triangle eye. Here are the red flags and why he's a horrible surgeon: 1.) He just DGAF: He's the Chief of plastic surgery and Director of microsurgery at St Mary's, so his mind is clearly into bigger and better things. I don't doubt Dr Lee is experienced, well-educated, and skilled, at least enough to make it this far. But he is clearly checked out and have no interest in those "smaller" cosmetic procedures like eyelid surgery. My consultation and follow up visits literally lasted 10 minutes combined, mostly with him barely looking at me and rushing me out. 2.) Zero surgical planning: When I say zero, I mean literally nothing. He did not take time to go over crease height and shape prior to surgery. I'm pretty sure he didn't even mark out my incision lines. He didn't even measure my eyelids until I was already on the surgery table doped up on sedatives. Then he made the impulsive decision to lower my crease 2mm while I was barely conscious on the table. 3.) Unwilling to listen: From the consultation to the follow-ups, every one of my concerns were brushed off. Even at the 5 month follow up to discuss potential revision, Dr Lee immediately blamed the failed crease on mr anatomy without even looking at my eyes. How did he know it's my anatomy from 3-4ft away? And he said he's hesitant to revise my right eye because it "looks good enough".... read more

I recently visited Dr. Lee specifically to get Xeomin. This was my first time getting any form of botox done and Dr. Lee and his team were incredibly professional and friendly. In speaking to friends/colleagues and doing some research on my own I knew I wanted to try Xeomin as a preventative to forehead wrinkles. I also wanted to try it on my masseters as I clench my teeth/jaw a lot. Upon arriving, the medical assistants/nurses helped me compare the benefits of Xeomin compared to traditional botox and then set me up in one of the rooms. Dr. Lee came in and talked me through my areas of concern and came back with the suggested amount of units for each area given this was my first time getting Xeomin. Dr. Lee was quick and the pricks were pretty painless (tbh some flu shots have hurt more) and they gave me an ice pack to prevent any possible bruising. Xeomin is not as fast acting as traditional botox so gradually within the next week it started to take into effect which I liked as this process was brand new to me and it wasn't as obvious so I was able to slowly adapt to it. I scrunch my face a lot creating wrinkles and even headaches at time and since getting Xeomin it has helped with both. No wrinkles on the forehead and very sublte 11s so it all still looks very natural. Additionally I'm very happy with the treatment of my masseters as I would wake up with a sore/jaw pain in the morning (TMJ) and haven't had those issues since. Overall great first experience getting Xeomin and would highly recommending L Plastic Surgery, Dr. Lee and his team! Supposedly your body isn't supposed to build a tolerance as much compared to traditional botox *crosses fingers* so I plan on continuing to get this done in the near future. read more

First, I had a prior breast augmentation with a different provider and felt the implants settled a bit too far apart and wanted more fullness toward the center as it was difficult to create cleavage without wearing a sports bra. Second, I wanted to remove some fat on my stomach and around my waist. To address these concerns he performed liposuction across my stomach, above the belly button, and onto the waist area to achieve a good shape before then transferring that extracted fat predominately on the inside of each breast to create more fullness there and allow better cleavage. Dr. Lee was very helpful and kind in listening to my concerns and helping me come up with an effective surgical plan to achieve the desired outcome. The nursing staff including both Maggie and Jessica who I worked with were incredibly kind and kept up very good communication addressing all my concerns, navigating the insurance coverage, and making sure I was able to be stress free from start to finish. Every time I came to make an appointment, the friendly staff explained and served me, and it was a good place to go for a beauty treatment.

First of all, I flew from Hawaii to San Francisco for my surgery. I was only in CA for two weeks, so it was great that Dr. Lee and his team was able to get me in for a consultation, get the surgery done along with the follow up within that time. I got revision eyelid surgery to fix the DST (Double suture technique) procedure that I got done 10 years ago because my crease/eyelids was getting smaller, and my eyes were uneven. I voiced my concerns about my eyelids and Dr. Lee acknowledged my concerns and recommended what would be the best option for me. Dr. Lee and his team, especially Jessica, were very professional and friendly. My surgery went well. They explained all the post-op care and reassured me to just trust the process. Their customer service is top notch. If I have any questions, I will just email them and either Jessica or Dr. Lee would response within a day, which I appreciate very much. My consultation for a rhinoplasty was honestly a waste of time and money. I had a very wide nose with thick skin, a droopy tip, and it would curve or hook down when I smile. I saw a few doctors in San Francisco because in my area there aren't any doctors who specialize in Ethnic rhinoplasty. For reference my nose was wide and flat due to being 75% Asian, and very prominent because it runs on the European side of my family. Compared to the other doctors I saw, the virtual consultation was the most low effort. It was basically an overpriced phone call, no video. The phone call was very short and just an invitation to come to the actual office. I did a virtual consultation because I live out of state. I understand the doctor should see the patient in-person, but compared to the other consultations I had this seemed very short and low effort. Based on the way this office conducts virtual consultations, I feel that's it's probably better to just eliminate them and require all consultations to be in-person. Phone calls appointments just delay the process. I finally schedule a consultation at the office. My partner takes a day off work to drive me back and forth, 10 hours total. The appointment is almost a half hour late with no explanation. I was offered a fat graft, or for my nose to be broken. While researching possible practices, one thing that did not come up was the fact that not every doctor does photo renderings. Photo renderings are so popular, I thought it was expected. Because I had no photo references to get any idea of my results, I had no idea how to choose between either procedure. Personally I think doctors who don't do renderings do it for liability purposes, so if the patient is unhappy they are more likely to blame themselves. Dr. Lee described it as a subtle or dramatic difference. Everybody has a different opinion of what subtle and dramatic is. I know photos are no guarantee, but I had no idea of what I was going to look like. I asked for my nose to be broken, but he keeps trying to talk me out of it because of the long recovery. It wasn't about the results, it was just about the recovery. I told him I didn't mind waiting, but he kept trying to talk me out of it. Then why did he offer it in the first place? His conduct in general seemed like he didn't take me seriously. For the fat graft for one of the procedures, he said the graft would come from the area of skin near the pelvic region. I knew which area he was referring to. But without being asked, him and the nurse make me stand up and unzip my shorts. They pull down my shorts and point to the area. Personally I don't think this was necessary, my shorts were form fitting so they could have just pointed to it. If they really needed to see the skin, they would have taken my underwear off, but they didn't. So I don't see the point of taking my shorts off if they're going to point to the area that is still covered by the underwear fabric. I also didn't feel confident in continuing with this practice because I explained that my nose hooks down. When I would smile, the nose would curve down lower. It wasn't straight, it would actually curve because it was wide and flat. Dr. Lee kept trying to explain that everybody's nose hooks, but no matter how many times I tried to explain that it was the curving that bothered me, he didn't understand. He explained that nobody smiles 24/7, but this is an issue that a lot of rhinoplasty patients want to fix and doctors know how to fix it. How he could be unaware of something so common is odd to me. The office staff was really nice and I like that you can choose between different methods of anesthesia depending on cost. read more

I have to say coming to this office has been the best choice I've made in a long time. I have always been self conscious of the bags under my eyes. So last July I under went a lower blepharoplasty with subconjunctival fat transposition. Throughout the whole process I was very impressed with the care given to me by the team at L Plastic Sugery. I' m very disappointed by Dr Lee's professional incompetence and poor bedside manners. I had breast augmentation about 6 months ago. My follow up appointment was on March 11 of this year. I mentioned at the last appointment that the nipple locations were not even(left nipple still higher than right) and I was genuinely concerned. Dr Lee's response was that he didn't move the location and would see at our next follow up appointment. In the meantime, I had been doing self breast exams. During one of the self exams I felt hard tissue on the left breast and went to Kaiser. I was shortly after diagnosed with breast cancer. It was shocking and surprising because I had just had implants placed. I feel so unlucky having just undergone breast augmentation at his office and now have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I wish things could have been differently. I wish the office asked me to update mammogram right before the surgery instead of using my more than 6 months old mammogram. I found that they were supposed to ask me to update right before the surgery to make sure everything is fine. I found out from Kaiser during diagnostic test. I wish Dr Lee could have shown me genuine sympathy when I told him about my breast cancer. After all, of course I did not trust him and want to go back to his office. So I asked him for partial refund. He's been ignoring me ever since. I paid over ten thousand dollars for the breast augmentation. He doesn't want to refund me a single dollar. He didn't even politely refused to refund, but just ignored me completely. I thank God that I didn't listen to Dr Lee and went to Kaiser for exam. I didn't come here for bed side manner or for polite receptionists , I came here because I know Charles lee is good! And he isn't gouging his prices even though his office is beautiful and I'm sure he has a huge overhead ! When it comes down to it , he's really good at his craft and that's all that should matter ! My first experience with Dr. Lee was when I called the phone number for his office on a weeknight at 8pm. Figuring I would leave a message for his office staff that might be returned the next day, imagine my surprise when Dr. Lee answered the phone himself and answered a few of my initial questions. When I called the next day to make an appointment his office staff told me that he regularly has the office phone forwarded to his personal cell at night so that if patients need him he's there. WTF, who is this guy? Unlike many of Dr. Lee's other patients I came to him for reconstructive neural surgery on my hand and elbow. After being blown off by several other surgeons because of inconsistent test results, Dr. Lee spent the time listening to my whole story, and performed a series of painless physical diagnosis tests and was able to tell me right then and there he was confident I could have a 100% recovery with surgical intervention. I was sold. After returning to work I emailed the address on his website only to get a personal email from Dr. Lee himself answering my questions and sugesting a time for my surgery. So I literally scheduled my surgery over email, yay! The day of my surgery I showed up at St. Mary's and thank goodness Dr. Lee was on time, everything went well. He has a great bedside manner, even touches your shoulder or hand and tells you it's all going to be ok. Little things like that make a big difference when someone is about to undress you and cut you open. The cons: I called a few times before my surgery to ask whether I needed blood tests and was told no each time, but then 2 days before my surgery I was called by the hospital to inform me that due to my "age", how insulting ;), and I had to rush in the day before surgery for a blood and urine test. After my surgery I was kindly given a nerve block by the anesthesiologist but it meant I had NO control at all over my right arm from neck down. In addition to this just being soooo weird, I was totally unable to carry my dead arm around. When I asked for a sling to get home, I was told that the Dr. would need to authorize it, and that he hadn't. It took my partner and I at least 15 minutes of fighting with the nurse, me demonstrating to her that I could not get out of the bed and carry my arm, and offering to pay $50!! out of pocket for her to agree to just give us a sling. Overall my experience of care and after care was great. The con's I feel were really the fault of St. Mary's, although they are generally great too. The outcome: well there are parts of my hand and elbow that are feeling much better and there are parts that haven't completely healed yet, I'm still hoping that Dr. Lee is right and I will get 100% function and feeling back soon.
