This is an update on my review. It has been 15 years since the operation and I now realize it was money very well spent. Original: My experience with Dr. Delgado was great. The quality of the surgery and the results, which is the most important consideration, were worthy of 5 stars! I rated it 4 for reasons other than the quality of the work, I will get into that later. First i'd like to point out the good: Dr. Delgado seems very experienced in this type of surgery. I had spoken with two doctors before and had done tons of research on the subject. The two doctors were not very helpful and pointed towards some drugs that work only on a very few percentage of men with early stage gynecomastia. On the research side I found that gynecomastia is often confused with simple chest fat. Gynecomastia is in fact not fat and many surgeons who perform gynecomastia surgery do so with liposuction only, resulting in the puffy nipples still remaining. At this point I was frustrated with the medical communities misguided view on gynecomastia and was afraid to invest a large sum of money on something that would not give me the results I wanted. I narrowed down my results to 3 surgeons who performed gynecomastia surgery and had proven track records. I visited Dr. Delgado last and although the two previous surgeons seemed adequate, I decided for Dr. Delgado. Dr. Delgado accurately diagnosed my problem and offered a minimally evasive procedure that left only very minor scarring. Dr. Delgado was the most expensive of the surgeons (that's why the 4 stars)! Still, seeing as this was mostly a cosmetic surgery, I wanted to be happy with the results. It has been a few months since the surgery and the tiny scars are mostly gone. I came to Dr. Delgado to fix a previous breast surgery that resulted in my breasts separating. He replaced textured implants with silicone implants which resulted in a greater seperation of my breasts. He did a nipple lift that didn't lift my nipples but only stretched the aerola. They were a half dollar size and now they are a sand dollar size. I asked for my breasts to be revised but they want to charge me another 7500. Seeing as how I would have to travel from Vegas to San Francisco and I don't trust Dr. Delgado anymore, no way. I came to dr. Delgado to specially fix this problem Of my implants separating but he made the problem worse. He charged 12k for a procedure I will have to spend another 9k to a different surgeon to fix. Stay Away! I had gynecomastia surgery here and he left the stitches under one of my arms. I didn't realize this until about a week later when I was out of state and kept complaining to him about discomfort. Delgado told me to cut them out myself! Can you believe this? Just found my unfinished post on Yelp. It's 2023, and still suffering from what this Surgeon did to me. I'll start anew. 6/11/18. Fatal day. My face will never look the same. Never told me what a C02 laser is, or anything about the procedure or risks. After the 2nd visit when the laser was added on, the word laser was never used. He ended up doing the procedure incorrectly, even admitting he didn't follow the grid lines! Oops! After the 2nd Dermatologist said OMG (after showing him the pics) who did this to you? He referred me to a 3rd. After seeing her she called me that evening saying she's discussed my case with the 2 other Dermatologists in the practice. All 3 agreed....YOU NEED TO SUE THIS SURGEON. Doctors don't normally say this. Dr. Delgado felt it was fair to pay for half of my treatments until I let him know what the other doctors told me. He then paid. My face has no pigmentation. I still have weird red lines on the sides of my face. It's white, like I've seen a ghost. I have an olive complexion. Now I have to worry about skin cancer since I have no protection from the sun. I've lodged a complaint with the Medical Board. Since Covid, they've been short staffed, so he may be retired by the time they get around to reviewing the case. I am beyond astounded at the impeccable quality and professionalism of Dr. Delgado and his team. Everyone there from the front desk to the coordinator , anesthesiologist and nurses were so amazing and treated me like a queen. I am 2 weeks in recovery for having breast reconstruction. My implants dated back to 24 years ago. I originally was an A cup and after nursing two children I lost every ounce of breast tissue. Think twice about getting any facial work done by Dr. Delgado. After interviewing at least five plastic surgeons over the past few years I chose Dr. Delgado. I should have known better because most of his before and after photos are of women in their 40s or early 50s. At the time of my surgery, I was a 68 year-old female seeking a lower facelift and lower eyelift. Below is one of the letters I wrote to Dr. Delgado. "Thank you for sending me my pre-surgery pictures, it just further validates that there is no visible difference in my lower face and jaw line and my right ear lobe looks nothing like it originally did. "As I mentioned earlier I had concerns prior to my operation which I clearly expressed to you. First, my jawline which is why I came to you in the first place, next scars that might be visible after the surgery and third I am terrified of going under, meaning anesthesia. You basically agreed to do surgery being fully aware of my concerns and never once stated you do not possess the skills needed to perform the task or there might be an issue with the results. It is quite apparent that you clearly do not possess the skills a surgeon needs to do plastic surgery on my face and neck. The first words out of my mouth after the procedure was "it looks like two different people were working on my face and one was blind " My left eye looked like someone had cut my lower lid with a serrated kitchen knife weaving it in and out of my eyelashes line, which has yet to all grow back. My right eye looks like another person had cut it with a razor-sharp blade 1/4 inch below my lash line and pulled the skin too tight. Both eyes were sewn shut smaller than before my surgery leaving eyelashes poking out of the outer creases. Also, my left eye has a bulge area. My right earlobe, there is no other word to describe it but just mutilated, does not look anything like my previous earlobe or the other one and now has a very visible scar, dimple and notch taken out of it. As you know I was in tears at my first post-op appointment with you. Incisions on one side of my face look nothing like the other. It is clear as a surgeon you cannot cut on the dotted line of very obvious folds and creases. The left side of my face had a horizontal pull a clear indication of incompetence. You never once told me you do not possess the skills needed to do my surgery nor did you mention I should seek these procedures from another surgeon. You stated in your letter you "strive to make each and every patient happy with their outcome." Striving and having the necessary skill set to carry out the procedures are two very different things. I voiced my concerns at subsequent post-op appointments and it became quite apparent that you had no intention of fixing anything, let alone the list of items. With my eyelashes growing out of the corner of my eye all you did was pull them, with my bumps all you did was poked them with a pin. Finally, I had to shame you into even accepting a revision for the scar on my right ear. "We had a contract. I inform you of what issues I wish you to correct and for that, I give you $22,825. In return, you agree, having 30 years of experience, that you have the skills needed to perform that task and perform that task with satisfactory results. The results should not be a laundry list of botched items, many of which I am stuck with. I am not comfortable having you make any revisions and will listen to my dermatologist's repeated recommendation to find another doctor to make the repairs. One year after my surgery two surgeons told me that my procedure was not successful and that I need a lower facelift. One of them does not wish to correct your mistakes. That doctor took three pictures of me so that I could show you the areas that need repair." In case anyone wants to know the cost of all the repairs is about the same as a new facelift. read more

Incredible experience!!! I honestly don't know where to start but here it goes: About a year and a half ago, I got silicone breast implants (age:21) put under the muscle (A cup to D) by a different doctor in Southern California. At first it was great and they looked good, however, by May 2019 (age:22), I started feeling really sick and a constant pain in my chest. By that point in time, I started panicking because my original surgeon kept telling me it was 'in my head' and when I called other surgeons (all over the USA), they were quoting me ridiculously high prices (3 X more than the boob job for an explant)! By some miracle, I called Dr.Delgado's novato office and was greeted by a super nice british woman (I think her name is Shannon) who assured me that what I was going through was actually normal and that other women have been complaining about the exact same symptoms. Even though Dr.Delgado was fully booked, she managed to squeeze me in for a consultation and from there it was a breeze. I was surprised and relieved by how nice ALL of Dr.Delgado's staff (receptionists, coordinators, nurses, and anesthesiologist--Dr.Riddle) were towards me and my situation. Shout out to Chelsea (the coordinator) because she kept me calm 2 weeks pre op. Dr.Delgado is professional, gentle, understanding, and doesn't upsell (which is rare in plastic surgery). I have a long history of gynecomastia and obesity. After significant weight loss I decided to do something about my pendulous breasts. At my age, the condition of my skin and severity of my gynecomastia, I would require a double mastectomy with a free nipple graft. I set out to find a cosmetic/plastic surgeon with expertise in working with men. While I had consulted with other local plastic surgeons I wasn't impressed with the depth of their experience with gynecomastia. After researching the internet and Youtube, I came upon Dr. Delgado as someone with significant years of expertise in this particular surgery. Through his website I emailed their office a question about my condition and received a prompt phone call from Dr. Delgado himself. It was a brief discussion but my questions were answered and I went ahead and scheduled a consultation in his SF office. That personal phone call, combined with youtube videos and his extensive work with patients with gynecomastia impressed me. What sealed the deal to work with Dr. Delgado was the questionnaire I was asked to complete at the initial consultation, asking poignant questions with respect to the complex emotional and social impact Gynecomastia has on a man, the embarrassment, the impact on intimacy, esteem, etc.. I answered affirmatively to most every question. This questionnaire (1) let me know that Dr. Delgado knows about people like me, (2) reassured me that there are others who feel the same way I do and (3) validated that my decision to undergo this surgery was not a frivolous matter, that it was the right decision, that I needed it and was deserving. This made all the difference. I scheduled the surgery and 4 weeks ago underwent a 6 hour reconstruction. I stayed at the hotel across the street on the first night and then home to recover. I've had no complications. I have had three followup appointments and another scheduled in 3 weeks. Dr. Delgado said I'd be able to return to work in about a week. I did return to work in a week but the recovery was more painful that I had expected, perhaps due to my age, extent of the procedure. I did feel significantly better at the 3 week interval. I'm pleased with how this has gone and results of the surgery thus far. Dr. Delgado is personable and professional. I've seen him in both of his offices and all the staff are pleasant and professional. I'm a physician myself and spent considerable time looking for someone I can have confidence in to take care of me and do a good job at this repair. I was not disappointed. I flew from Hawaii to see Mr. Delgado. I chose to have Alloderm for the lips and consider it a success.I was surprised he had someone review him poorly because I thought he and his staff were outstanding. Bedside manner is that of dignity, professionalism, and %100 caring. He also took a lot of time to talk to me beforehand on the phone. I am happy with the results too (which are very natural) and I feel that trusting your lips to someone can be precarious. All his staff were dolls....... extremely caring and warm individuals. I did my resaerch and after watching Dr. Delgado's video and seeing his before and after pictures of his procedures, I was convinced... I scheduled my consultation with Dr. Delgado in his San Francisco offce and had my tummy tuck and lipo suction in his Surgery Center in Novato last December and I have never had any complications and after the swelling went down my body transformed into a very slender looking body. My breast were very damaged after breastfeeding and after all the weight loss. I thought I wanted breast implants, however I was recommended a breast lift instead by Dr. Delgado. I am very glad I took his advice, I didn't realize that if I had chosen implants with a lift, there was a good chance that a surgery was going to be needed in the future. He did a wonderful job on my breast lift. I couldn't believe they were mine. I am so much more confident and comfortable in my own skin. The Marin surgery facility was beautiful, very clean and very new. I was extremely comfortable with the staff, and his anesthesiologist Randy Gaynor was fantastic. I am very happy I chose Dr. Miguel Delgado as my plastic surgeon, I am now considering a tummy tuck to complete my mommy makeover.
