If you are considering a Retina MacBook Pro display assembly with a replaced polarizer from this company, buyer beware. I purchased three over the course of a few months, and each one had to be returned. One of the screens had pressure marks and brown spots as if burned with a heat gun. Another had an entire column of dead pixels. The third had the worst backlight bleed I'd ever seen, and appeared to be a non-genuine display, similar to another knock-off screen from China that I previously owned. I am not convinced that they can actually perform this repair without damaging the LCD. It's unfortunate, as this is a unique service and these screens are otherwise expensive and hard to find in good condition. read more

L2's work and repair on my 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro which was sent in for liquid damage was amazing. My Mac got totally wrecked by a water bottle whose cap fell off in my bag and damaged the LCD, Touchbar, Logic Board, and soldered in SSD! Their repair was very VERY impressive. They fixed EVERYTHING perfectly! Considering that Apple would have required me to get a new Logic Board, a new Display, a new Topcase, and a new Battery, the cost was fair and turnaround time fast. I have sent L2 some MacBook Pros I had that had the staingate problem, and they fixed those, too. There are very few places in the the country that can offer the types of Logic Board, soldering, micro-component replacement repair like L2 does. They are a very necessary repair shop with (I presume) extremely specialized equipment to help with repairs that an Apple Store wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole. SCAMMERS - RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! Worst computer "repair" experience I've ever had in my life! Months ago I sent my Mac Mini off for a logicboard repair. When I sent my $900 Mac Mini to L2Computer repair *it did work* it just would not sleep without going into a boot loop from a kernel panic. Nearly two months after I sent it to them the first time (and after calling several times to inquire) I get my Mac Mini back and IT'S DEAD (just like you see in this video, won't power on). Furious, I call them and they just say "Send it back and we'll fix we. We promise!" Well, THEY LIED. I didn't have the tools to open my lapotop and it took a while to find them. In that time my battery went from crummy to unusable--as in, if the machine wasn't plugged in, I had no operation. So my battery situation became desperate. So I get the tools and finally open the box that L2/laptop_mb_seller shipped. Guess what? Wrong battery! I didn't realize this until I opened the computer with my new tools and the battery that L2 shipped and attempted to install this battery, which was a completely different size and didn't fit. So I looked at the eBay picture and sure enough, not a match. The wrong battery that they shipped has 6 "bays" and the one I need (and the one in the pic) has 4. Additionally the one they advertised and that I sent $89 for was A1405 020-7379-A fits Apple MacBook Air 13" A1466 2012 MD231LL/A. What they actually sent clearly states A1495. NOT A1405. Did you know there is something called warranty, under the law, which means that when you advertise that you are selling a certain item then the express warranty is that item? I'm selling you a car = I'm selling you a car. I'm selling you a laptop battery = I'm selling you a laptop battery. I'm selling you a blue 1965 Mustang means that it's not supposed to be a car but that you are WARRANTYING that you're selling a blue 1965 Mustang. Same goes for this battery. I'm selling you A1405 = you are warrantying THAT, but sending me A1495 is WRONG. Thus, it is your duty under the law to make the exchange and make it right. I contacted them through eBay mail, and they ignored. So I got ahold of their phone number and spoke to a woman who fought me tooth and nail but then admitted that if I could indeed provide the pictures of the wrong battery they sent (I still had all the packaging and the shipping label and everything original) they would replace it. Per her instructions ("You can call me Kan," she said, and she claimed her boss/manager who authorized was James) I sent all the photos to their provided email address. They wrote back and asked for YET MORE PHOTOS, which I sent and satisfied the burden of proof over which they agreed to swap out for my CORRECT battery--you know, the one that I ORDERED and PAID FOR. I also offered to cover the shipping myself because I was so desperate to get my battery replaced and this done. I sent three subsequent follow-up emails and they have blown me off completely. Meanwhile, they still sell the product for $89 so it's not like they are going to lose anything. They have nothing at all, in fact, to lose, other than some dignity because of their refusal to follow the law of warranty. And being the jerks they are, I'm calling them out here. These folks sell used computers and add $100 or so for an extended warrantee. They send conflicting and incomplete instructions about how to deal with a problem. They are NOT honoring their committment for a replacement part. I wrote and asked if I bought the part and installed it would they cover the price of the part. They showed me a used part. I bought a new part but not from them. Now they say they won't honor their propmise to even pay the amount of the used part. This is NOT an honest company. read more

Brought in my MacBook Pro for motherboard repair. My dog had knocked over a coffee cup and coffee got inside the computer. When I arrived, I was told the repair would take a week and a half. The repair was completed in under a week. Apple wanted to charge me $800 to replace the motherboard. L2 was able to fix the problem for $268. When I picked up the computer, I was told there was a 30 day guarantee if anything went wrong. When I started the computer at home everything was fine. After 10 minutes the computer kept shutting down automatically. I took the computer back to L2. They took the computer back and fixed the problem with no extra charge as promised in two days. Everything is working perfectly now. I would highly recommend them for computer repair. read more

I took a water damaged Macbook Pro to these guys. It took longer than they said - 4 vs. 2 weeks. BUT they did repair a water damaged motherboard that no one else would touch. They did not charge me any more than the $240 they quoted on the phone. Macbook has been perfect since - 6 months. They had the parts I needed in stock and performed the service quickly. Be careful, though, purchasing lower-grade parts. I needed a MacBook screen replaced and they said they could save money with a grade B screen that "might have some small scratches." After they installed said screen, I found that it had significant marks that are distracting, particularly when using word processing apps. Im not a guy who writes reviews, but I signed up on yelp just to rave about this place! I just got back my 17inch mac book pro. I cracked the screen 3 years ago. I took it to Tekserv and they suggested I paid a flat fee for them to send it to apple and they would fix the screen and anything else that "may" be wrong with the computer. I won't say the amount but lets just say I could of bought a new 15inch macbook for close to the same amount of money. I came across L2 because they're in my area, but was skeptical because I only saw one yelp review on them. But I walked over and checked them out. There a small but very professional place. They quoted me a price to replace my screen and my disk drive (that also went out on me) that was one third what Tekserv told me I had to pay. I will say that again ONE THIRD. I was suppose to have my computer back in a week but it took about 12 days becuase the original part that was sent to them didn't fit perfectly, so they waited for the correct piece. This is the place Im going to and referring my friends to for all there mac needs. They also work on pc computers, but I don't work on those :) read more

I shipped my Macbook Pro 17" laptop to L2 Computer from Atlanta, GA on Tuesday (August 28, 2012) and it arrived in at their office in New York Thursday evening. I figured I'd give them the weekend + monday to review my logic board but was surprised Sunday with an email saying my laptop had been repaired and was on its way home! I received my computer today (Thursday September 6) and typed this review. Apple wanted over $800 for a new logic board, resellers wanted $350+ an no guarantee. Absolutely the WORST experience. I went into get my iPhone 6 glass repaired, after dropping it and it cracking. The website said the service for iPhone 6 was $60 for digitizations on their website. When I tried to pay, they charged me $100 stating that they failed to update the website. So for all I know they just made up the price or they are false advertising. I had no choice but to pay the $100 b/c I needed the phone. After arguing with the manager, they still would not budge or even offer to compromise on cost. There are many other options in NYC. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Do not use this place!! read more

Ripoff. Nothing more. Firstly, you can read more negative reviews about this company on Ripoffreport.com. Had two Macs with them for repair. The first unit was shipped back with a swapped board with chip "repair" performed on an unrelated part of the logic board. They didn't even clean the flux afterwards so it was clearly evident. Basically, they charge you for repairs NOT performed. I got the runaround when trying to contact the customer dis-service department. Initiated a chargeback with my card company and filed a report with the NY police department and district attorney. Alot of repair companies do logic board swaps, and this is one of them. They can't repair your problem, so they thrown in a shitty old board. read more

I purchased their laptop repair services from Ebay for $109 and that is when the problem started. It took more than 3 months and after shipped my laptop to them for three times cost me additional $50 in shipping cost, my laptop now is completed useless. My laptop was initially having black screen or reset problem from time to time but now my LCD screen has pink line all across on the right side with some back light on the right corner and everything else is black and it is now completely useless. They were at one point offer me to pay additional $140 to get the Motherboard replaced and try to get me to spend more money on them which luckily I did not accept. After requested for my laptop back and was promised three times and finally they ship my laptop back after almost 3 weeks and two failed promises. After email them many times without going anywhere, as they insist there is no wrong doing on their end. I think it is better for me to share my experience with you. read more

I bought a logic board repair via eBay through their name laptop_mb_seller I read the Yelp reviews after sending my laptop off and was convinced I was getting screwed. The next few weeks were very stressful. I got my previously broken laptop back and it's good as new! This was in July and the laptop is still running fine. It saved me about $600. read more

They sold me a MacBook Pro screen claiming that it was genuine with only some signs of wear. The screen had been ground down in areas to fit non standard parts that were glued together. When I called them out on it they accepted the screen back for a refund. When I purchased another one it was also modified from original Apple condition. When I gave a negative review they pretended to change the way they advertise, but changed it back as soon as I changed my review. They are shady and manipulative. Originally I sent my computer to a cheap $30 semi local repair service on ebay. I was given the run around for 2 months. After I sent my computer to L2 Computer service they repaired my laptop in about 7 days. Shipping took a long time, but that is no fault of L2 Computer. Take my advice, spend the extra money and time to ship your laptop to these professionals; they will get your computer fixed right. Very complex issue with my 2 year old Macbook Pro (13") where the keyboard was typing 2 keys. I was quoted 800 from apple and let's just say I got it done for less than 1/4th of that. These guys were nothing short of miracle workers and they saved me over $500. I left the Apple Store in the Palisade's Plaza thinking that I had to throw out my son's only 5 month old Mac Book Air. Apple wanted to charge me almost $800 for a repair and getting a new computer is just a few hundred more. L2 computer revived my MacBook Pro which had been diagnosed as having corrosion from "water damage" by the Apple Store. After receiving the absolute worst service by so called "Geniuses", I was delighted to be treated in a professional manner by L2. I think many of the bad reviews are due to customers being completely unreasonable about their expectations or not understanding the difficulty of fixing surface mount electronics. If you are facing an expensive MacBook repair, give them a shot! My MacBook is back to normal for a fraction of the cost of Apple! read more

I was on eBay looking for a new motherboard for my Dell Inspiron 14z 5423, when I came across the listing offering *guaranteed flat-rate repair for $109.95*. Since buying an identical motherboard was apparently gonna run me at least $65 more than that, I mailed my laptop from Kansas City ($16, my expense). I got it back eight business days later, running better than it had since I bought it. I only happened across their service on eBay from halfway across the country, but if I lived anywhere nearby I would gladly trust them with my laptop. Very Happy! First let me say that I was very sceptical sending my $1800 Dell laptop across the country to get repaired for $109! I did lots of research and read reviews everywhere I could and finally pulled the trigger; I purchased their flat rate repair on eBay. I sent the laptop to them and once they received it I got an email notifying me that it had been received. It took them a couple of days and then I got another email saying that it had been shipped. I was so skeptical that I took pictures of the device front, back and of the motherboard to make sure I didn't get another device or scratches that weren't there before. I looked over the device and at the before pictures and everything looked the same (no changes that I could see). Powered up the laptop...... PERFECT! They fixed it! I am writing this review SIX MONTHS LATER to make sure that it wasn't a sloppy job and I'm happy to say that all is good. I have recommended them to a couple of friends and I will continue to recommend them to everyone I know and I will continue write reviews because too many people only write reviews when something goes wrong. read more

Regarding L2 Computer, Inc. and inadequate repair work Beware of repair shops that provide inadequate warranty policies to cover up their incomplete, or sub-standard, work. If you do business with such shops, you will only expose yourself to unnecessary frustration and disappointment. Unfortunately, L2 Computer Inc. appears to be one such computer repair shop. L2 Computer only provides a 30-day warranty to cover their repairs. While you may think that such a chintzy warranty policy is par for the course, when you really examine it, you will conclude that it is not. If your computer breaks down within that 30-day warranty, L2 Computer will repair it again for free. However, if your allegedly repaired computer begins to fail after 30 days and you are foolish enough to send it back to L2 Computer again to fix the problem(s) you had pre-paid them full price to fix the first time around, then they will charge you yet again to do the repairs--this time at a "discount" for half of the original price you had paid. (Plus shipping charges, of course.) And, if your computer manages to work OK for six months, but it again becomes so dysfunctional that it drives you crazy, you can send your ailing computer back to L2 Computer, but you will have to pay full price once again, because the clock gets reset at that six-month point. So, if they don't get you for half-price after the 30 days milestone, they have a chance to milk you for more money after 6 months have elapsed--if you're dumb enough to fall for their game, that is. That's some business model! I speak from experience. I sent a PowerPC-based iMac G5 to L2 Computer for repair, because it would not start up. I would hear a chime, but the computer would not go further than the black screen which accompanied the start-up chime. Within about four weeks, L2 Computer returned my iMac G5 to me, and, I must admit, I was initially pleased to see that it would start up. My first impression was that I thought they were miracle workers. But that first impression soon faded with time. Although the allegedly newly repaired iMac G5 took a lot longer to start up than before, and although it would occasionally crash for no reason I could discern, for the most part, I was pleased to observe that they appeared to have breathed new life into my computer. That was my experience during the first month. The iMac G5 was at least able to start-up (on occasion), but it definitely did not behave as if it were new, or completely fixed. Since a local shop to which I had taken the iMac G5 for repair could not do anything with it during the six months they had it in their possession but tell me that "something" was wrong with the motherboard, for which they charged me about $100 as a "diagnostics" fee, I was thankful for the small favor which L2 Computer gave me. I felt that I could tolerate an occasional freeze-up or random crash just to get the damn thing to start-up at all. However, in the second month of service, the iMac G5 began to freeze up and crash more often. Sometimes, it would simply refuse to start-up, too. The iMac G5 would either never get to a gray screen, or if it did reach a gray screen, the gear would not spin. Or, if the gear did spin, it would stop spinning within a few seconds, but never advance beyond that point. Sometimes, the fan would just kick in moments after I pressed the power on button.When the fan kicked in, the start-up process was doomed: the iMac G5 would never start-up after that, as if the lazy computer was laughing at me, saying "Stop trying to put me to work, I just want to stay cool and refreshed." Sometimes, I could get the iMac G5 to start-up by holding down the Option key during the start-up process and selecting either the Leopard or Panther partition as my start-up volume. That technique did not always work, however. When it did work, the iMac G5 would hum along for a little while--maybe for a few minutes, maybe for a few hours--but it would inevitably freeze up, compelling me to perform a Forced Shut Down by holding in the Power ON button for several seconds. By the third month of service, the frequency of the iMac's refusal to start-up increased faster than a spoiled child yelling and screaming for attention. So did the frequency of the freezes during those few times I did somehow manage--usually after several attempts--to get the iMac to start-up. I tried to see if there was a pattern in the freezes, but there was none. The iMac would crash for no reason at all, whether I was in the Finder or browsing the web, or using some other application. The cursor would freeze; the clock would stop; the fan would kick in (or not); and my only recourse then was to force it to shut down. [This review was truncated. I don't even know where to start with this company. I purchased a macbook pro from them and it worked fine for approximately 3 hours before It started having problems. Obviously he admitted he didnt fix it either time. And not quite sure what he thinks happened here but the UPS claim is held only because he wont file the paperwork or sign it so I can. nothing is closed. And it is a damage claim, not a fraud claim. Fraud is representing yourself as multiple companies to the same person so you can try to take money from whoever, whenever. Again...as was explained to him multiple times, I sent the Mobo somewhere else to be fixed when i found out his company operates under multiple names and pretends to be diff places. First time it was eBay dqsales, next time 9sky. They were supposed to fix two small issues besides the bga, such as a capacitor and a missing plastic clip for a ribbon as well. Their idea of doing this was to cut a small piece of folded tape and shove it in the clip to hold the ribbon there temporarily. Wow. Then I filed dispute cause he didn't fix it, and he says I have to close the dispute to get him to fix it. Which leaves me no option to reopen it if he does nothing to it. i offered dif options such as a full refund and i buy the service again and then i will send it back, or just he fix it as was the agreement in the first place. Refused each one. Once a dispute is filed and closed u can't reopen another for the same item. He knows this I have emails of him telling me to send it back to him and close the dispute or he won't fix it. Second time I sent to what I thought was a diff company called 9sky on eBay. Same people (he now claims it was diff problem) however both times he said all they did was BGA reflow reball. So just another lie. just like somehow he claims I would have some way of knowing he has only 300 of insurance on a package. Look up the prices for a mobo and LCD screen for a gateway MX8738 and u can see where that number comes from. Well he obviously admitted to keeping the parts of my laptop that I didn't send off to get fixed elsewhere, and that he is doing everything he can to be a prick about the whole thing, in his little bitter retort. Including lying to UPS. He claims that I waited two weeks just cause that's when they sent the papers to him, as if everything must be on James Lui's time. HE DOESNT UNDERSTAND common sense or what was told to him by UPS or by me. We (UPS reps and I) have called him multiple times to explain that all he had to do was sign a piece of paper saying UPS can deal with me since its my laptop. He refuses. UPS said they would go there and pick up the laptop and he refused to allow it. They offered to bring him the paper to sign, he refuses and claims I broke my own laptop. I have him recorded as saying he is doing all this because I gave him negative feedback. So after twice claiming he fixed a bga failure, and performing subpar service, he's mad cause I went to another place and didn't just give him my money anyway. His emails explicitly say I have to close my disputes and allow the money to be released to him before he will fix what he was supposed to fix in the first place. And not that its anyone else's business, especially not James lui's, but this was a laptop out of warranty I bought from a client for fix and resale. So his claim of me using it for 9 months and sending it in again is false and foolish. I simply didn't need to deal with it over the holidays. Bottom line is, I have dealt with him twice (accidentally the second time) and regretted it twice. Now he cost me a few hundred dollars and continues to be a prick about it. As u can see he makes no claims to the contrary of still having my have my laptop or that he has continuously done whatever he can to hinder a reimbursement of UPS damage. So just steer clear of him and L2 computers just in case there is a small percent chance he does this to anyone else also. I found a place in California I had no problems with, cheaper and even fixed multiple issues for flat fee on another mobo. See my reviews for the place. read more

Then they said they would send me a new shipment and again nothing was ever sent. If it wasn't for ebay I wouldn't even have gotten my money back.
