Service is lacking. I ordered mini Chile verde burrito. I asked for a side of jalapeños and the worker who could do nothing according to her said its an extra charge. I said I would pay. (1.75 + tax 1.96 almost 2.00$) For a 11.50$ burrito (plus tax of course) She handed me the mini size container of 7 sliced jalapeños and I laughed and asked for another one for the charge and she said she could not do that. I asked to speak to someone who could. She said no one was available and to write my number down and name. Really !! When I spoke to her in Spanish because she had used Spanish to speak to the kitchen she refused to respond in Spanish. Again REALLY! La Azteca has been a favorite of mine for a while! The portions are HUGE and the staff is always kind and helpful. My go-to is either the nachos or a wet burrito with salsa roja. Those two never disappoint. This time around, we placed a pickup order for 2 burritos and one order of nachos. They were ready with 15 minutes of placing the order. The inside of the restaurant was pretty empty and is very clean. I love the decorations on the walls as well. I don't know if we just caught them on a meh day this time around but the food wasn't as flavorful as it has been in the past. Specifically, the salsas. I love the salsas and remember them being spicier but they might have toned it down a bit. The burrito was huge (as usual) and was stuffed with rice, beans, guac, sour cream, lettuce, pico, and cheese. For some reason, the sour cream appeared to be underneath the burrito which is not something they usually do. The guac was only in one half of the burrito which also isn't usually the case. The rice and beans were good. I just wish there was more cheese and sauce and better spread of the ingredients! Service - we were greeted and seated right away. Our server was pleasant and on top of it. Ambiance - the restaurant was cozy and on the quiet side. It was clean along with the restrooms. Food - I had the tortilla soup. It came with a lot of vegetables so I thought it was the vegetable soup. The cheese and the tortilla strips were on the bottom of the bowl. Initially went to get sushi but ended up here. Thankfully the service here was significantly better. The margaritas are super good and has just the right amount of alcohol. They only had 1 New York steak and I ended up with it, good fat to meat ratio and cooked just as asked. The cheese enchiladas that came with it were STUFFED full of cheese. The hot sauce they offer I believe is house made and spicy. Absolutely loved it and would go back just to eat some more. Guacamole came in a little flour tortilla bowl that tasted amazing. Misleading Pricing. I've eaten here regularly for 20 years. Today I went to pick up my burrito and they rung it up as $18! Simple burrito, nothing extravagant: al pastor, no beans, no sour cream, no sauce on top, wrapped in foil. I protested, noting that there is no "$18" burrito on their menu. I opened their menu, showed it to them, and this burrito should cost something like $13.95. Their menu online is outdated, and shows it costing $12.25. The woman at the register tells me that she asked me if I want a "super" burrito when I called, and I said yes, and that this costs an extra $3 or something. I point out to her that there is no "super burrito" on either their printed menu or their online menu, there is no option to upcharge a regular burrito to a "super," and ask to speak with a manager. The manager tells me "well, the cost of everything has gone up, beans rice, everything." I say "yes, I understand all of that, but that doesn't mean you get to make up prices, casually mention the word "super" when someone is placing a phone order, and then upcharge a few bucks. Your prices have to reflect what's on your menu, you have to adjust your menu prices if you want to charge more." He literally laughed at me. So sad to say, but I don't think I'll be going back. The food is good. The service is OK. But I won't abide false advertising, doing hidden price gimmicks, charging customers differently than what's listed on the menu, and then laughing at a customer for pointing it out. Tonight I went to La Azteca I have been going there since high school. I went to go and pick up my order and was a little thrown off that it was $28 and some change. I got home and noticed there was no sour cream and guacamole on the plate so I called and ask for the guacamole and sour cream. And that the portion of carne asada is like 1/2 what it usually is. The person on the phone said bring back the food and we will give you a new plate. I get back to restaurant to get the new plate I open the box to make sure the plate looked right. The went back home to find out the rice was cold and the beans even colder. The cheese in the enchilada wasn't even melted just shredded cheese wrapped in a lukewarm warm tortilla. I call them back to ask for my money back and not even once in all these interactions was I told sorry about the mistake. This was one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Petaluma since I was 13 years old and now I will never go back again. read more

I came to this red restaurant invited by a regular and faithful customer, I had never been here before but she raves about so I decided to give it a try. The location is kind of hidden. Modest nothing fancy, very casual. We walked in and we seated ourselves and the waitress was prompt to bring the chips and salsa. The chips were really good (I'm big on Chips) the salsa had really good flavor, better then the last place I visited. I ordered the my usual, Shredded Chicken Burrito with everything, I like the way they served the Burrito with red salsa and shredded lettuce and sour cream on top and my friend got the green Chile one, I tasted both and the green Chile was way better then the Red as it had so much more flavor but the red is delicious as well. We also bought a Azteca Quesadilla which was huge. We definitely got our money's worth. Overall if you are not looking for anything fancy and just a casual inexpensive dinner with out putting a dent in your wallet but getting good flavored Mexican food this is the place to come. read more

OUT OUT OUT. If there is any rating lower than 5 starts, I would. We ordered two steak burritos and for desert a flan. Here are our findings 1. Steak pieces were old, not favorable, tasted like wood and it had so many bones/cartilage we had to throw the meat away. There were solid pieces of bones that could have "killed" us. What a joke 2. The flan, $4.50, came in a container that is the same container when you order a side order of ketchup at Burger King. It was 3" tall by 2" wide. All of that is $4.50. Are you freaking kidding me? If you look at the pictures in their website, you can see how small is the flan. It tasted like it was made a week ago. 3. We have asked for Pico De Gallo inside the burrito. Came none. We asked for cheese, came none. We paid dearly for all of that. Who the F...is working in the kitchen? Humans?!!!!!!!!! I don't think so, and I think Cows work there to make us angry ordering steak.
