    Taco Carne Asada & Chicken

A special gem for me! I grew up coming here as a child, and it has always left a smile on my face. From the service to the food, it's a great place to enjoy an authentic Mexican meal surrounded by culture and community. The basket of chips with salsa, cheese, and bean dip is the best part as soon as you sit down. I recommend all of their tacos, their burritos are the best I've had in the North Bay, and you can't go wrong with their birria. They also have amazing margaritas. I highly recommend this spot for a family dinner or catching up with friends. It truly has great food and great vibes.

Taco Tuesdays are amazing here! It's on the main road, easily missed, if one isn't scouting the area for tacos - especially for taco Tuesdays! I adore the open salsa bar and how they serve beans, cheese with salsa and chips! Service is attentive and food comes out accordingly. Tacos are spot on - add some salsa verde and pico de gallo from the salsa bar, and it makes the taco juicy! They even have lime wedges and many other salsa items to top your taco to your liking. They know how to make the Spanish rice just right - not too dry or soggy and flavored spot on. Ambiance is decked out. Love the options and the friendly casual vibes here. Parking is adequate and spacious restaurant.

I had a taco salad at another place and it was boring. I came here and ordered the taco salad and it was so much better! It has to have beans and rice!! I was on my lunch break so I appreciate when the food came so quickly! And the horchata was mixed well! The staff was great, I was seated right away and got my food and drink right away. The person sitting next to me got a margarita and it looked so good but I had to go back to work so I'll try it next time!

Carne Asada and Chimichanga. The plates are huge!!

Wow wow wow!! Was in the area for the day and decided to stop by Mi Pueblo because it was recommended to me by a friend. Immediately loved the vibe of the restaurant - it felt super welcoming and homey! I also loved all the vibrant and fun decorations. My husband and I came around 5:30PM on a Friday evening and were seated quickly. Our server dropped off some water, chips, and a variety of dips while we took a look at the menu. We had to tell ourselves to stop eating the chips and dip or else we wouldn't have room for the main course! The menu had plenty to choose from - but ultimately I settled on the Carne Asada Plate and my husband ordered the Chimichanga with carne asada as his choice of meat. First off - the plates are HUGE! We actually ended up eating only half of our meals and (happily) took the rest home as leftovers. I really enjoyed my dish -- the char on the Carne Asada was SO good and all the flavors complimented each other well. My husband really liked his Chimichanga as well. For dessert we ordered the Sopapillas - which weren't like the sopapillas that we had tried a few years back in New Mexico - but were still a yummy, sweet treat to wrap up our dinner. A note on the overall service -- Our server and the rest of the servers we came across were super kind and attentive. You really get that family vibe from the decor to the crew working there :) I would 100% come back to visit and try more things off the menu! I also heard that they have a pretty good salsa bar, which I unfortunately did not try since I was so tunnel visioned on my Carne Asada Plate. Thank you Mi Pueblo for a wonderful experience!

Chili relleno and enchilada (front) street tacos (far)

We were visiting Petaluma and dropped in here after driving by and seeing how busy they were. We saw why quickly. The servers were friendly. We ordered street tacos with carne asada and an enchilada with mole sauce with shredded chicken and chili relleno. They bring chips, salsa, queso and beans out to your table when you are seated. All the food was delicious. We enjoyed it and would go back.

Very small, half filled with crushed ice, and almost no alcohol

My wife and I have been going to Mi Pueblo on Kentucky Street since it opened. The food is fantastic, love the people working there .. But over the past two years, the House Margaritas have been a total rip-off. First off they charge $13.50 for a four-ounce glass that's half stuffed with crushed ice. Worse, the amount of tequila is so slight that neither of us feels any buzz at all. Then, since it's so small, the waiters come around within ten minutes and ask if we'd like another Margarita ! We're already spending nearly $90.00 for dinner, and they expect us to spend an additional $27.00 for two more crappy drinks ! Very disappointed ..Chevy's offers Margaritas, almost twice the size, and half the price since their happy hour extends to 8:00 They also put a generous amount of tequila in them. We have other friends who have complained about Mi Pueblo's house Margarita's . Its enough reason to stop going there. Fix it !!!

    Chimichanguitas with shredded chicken

I had a dear friend visiting from Canada recently. She was staying in Petaluma and was dying for some good Mexican food, which is hard to come by where she's from. I've heard lots of good things about Mi Pueblo so we decided to try it. It was noon on Sunday and the place was packed! Thankfully we were able to be seated right away. The decor in the restaurant is really fun, from the painted walls to the carved furniture. They brought us some fresh chips, salsa, and refried beans (to dip, I love it when places do that). The salsa was delicious and not too spicy. I wasn't super hungry so I chose their appetizer of chimichanguitas with shredded chicken and my friend went with a shrimp burrito. The food arrived quickly and was fresh and flavorful. The chicken in my dish was seasoned very well. Even though it was considered an appetizer, I had plenty of leftovers. My friend enjoyed her burrito very much. The service was very friendly and made sure to always keep our water glasses full and came to check on us a handful of times. I was impressed with everything and would definitely return.

A Great Lunch Stop with Amazing Tacos and Fresh Flavors!…read more We stopped at Quiote in downtown Petaluma for a quick lunch while en route to Oregon. The restaurant has decent seating inside, and the staff are incredibly friendly. A really nice touch, especially for hot summer days, is that each table gets complimentary diced chilled watermelons to start. The food was fantastic from start to finish: * Tortilla Chips & Salsa: We ordered their special house-made tortilla chips, which came with green and spicy salsa dips. They were fresh, crispy, and highly flavorful. Definitely highly recommended! * Carne Asada Tacos: This was my absolute favorite taco. The steak was one of the best I've had, and the flavors were awesome. * Grilled Cod Fish Tacos: Our second favorite was the fresh grilled cod fish tacos, which were absolutely fantastic. * Chicken and Shrimp Tacos: We also ordered the chicken and special shrimp tacos, which my wife and kids loved. * Rice and Beans: My kiddos got a side of rice and beans, and they were very flavorful. * Flan: For dessert, we ordered the flan. It came topped with a unique whipped cream infused with orange flavor, which was excellent. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through or in the area!

Is this the Best Mexican restaurant in Sonoma County?…read more Don't let the simple, unfussy interior fool you -- Quiote is quietly doing some of the most exciting Mexican cooking in the Bay Area. This family-run Jalisco-style spot in downtown Petaluma sources quality ingredients (heirloom maize, Rancho Gordo beans, fresh local seafood), and it shows in every bite. And, of course, the staff is warm, personable, and genuinely happy to walk you through the menu -- take them up on it. Guac & Salsa -- I've had a lot of chips. These might be the best I've ever had. The raspadas are the move here: thin, crispy, shatteringly light corn chips with a texture unlike anything you'd expect. Not your standard tortilla chip -- closer to something airier and more delicate. The guac and salsa alongside are equally solid. Molotes -- Traditional Mexican street snack: golden, torpedo-shaped corn masa dough fried crisp on the outside, packed with savory filling (think potato, chorizo, cheese), and served with salsa and crema. The exterior crunch giving way to the warm filling is deeply satisfying. Highly recommended. Tacos ($7.50 each) -- Yes, $7.50. And yes, worth it. The 100% maiz handmade tortillas are the foundation everything is built on, and they're exceptional. I worked through a lot of the menu and didn't find a miss -- al pastor, barbacoa, cochinita pibil, carne asada, fish -- all executed with care. If you're not sure where to start, just ask. The staff knows the menu cold and will point you right. Quiote isn't trying to be flashy. It's trying to be correct -- and it nails it. One of the best Mexican meals I've had, full stop.
