**Note this review is for the Île d'Orléans Location: This place totally surprised us in the best way. We stopped here after our bike tour around the island and absolutely loved it. They have great vegetarian options as well. We ordered the shrimp roll, bánh mì, sun-dried tomato lentil dip with pita, and the halloumi salad - everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We sat outside where you can choose between sun or shade, which was really nice after being out biking all day. You can tell the people working here take pride in what they do. So I came here because my room wasn't ready. I was going to eat but as soon as I sat down my room was ready!! However I did get an IPA flight which was pretty good. Unfortunately, I don't speak French so i don't know any of the names of the beers I drank but I did end up buying one to bring home with me. Jonathon was so nice and helpful. Patio on a Sunny afternoon for some local beers from a micro brewery with some good friends. Huge Patio area with sun or shade. The smell of Hop in the air since all the beers they serves is brewed on site. Rotating Seasonal Beers by the glass or as samples at a reasonable price. FANTASTIC brews. No, *REALY FANTASTIC!!* I tried their 8 beer flight this afternoon. Even the styles that I don't usually like, such as sours, had super high quality. All of the IPAs were amazing. I took 4 bottles back to my hotel room with all intentions of bringing them back home but, alas, I drank all 4. The product was simply too good, especially the Milk IPA. Never heard of it, a Québécoise beer? I could get into individual beer reviews but that probably ruins the fun. Everyone needs to experience their own. This brewery was really great, casual, and off the beaten path. It was a short walk from our hotel, which was good because after we finished a tasting, that walk was more of a stumble. Most breweries serve a tasting that will give you a slight buzz, this place was generous with a spinning 8 beer carousel or as we were calling it, a "Beerzy Susan." I tried the Imperial Stout, bitter, Black IPA, West Coast Double IPA, Blonde, saison, and well I think that's everything...that explains the stumbling. The beer was fresh and interesting. I am a HUGE fan of this place. It is close enough to down town without being in one of the over crowded areas. This micro-brewery has one of the largest terrace available. They even have some of the best beers you can find in its area. They have an amazing concept on Tuesday nights where people may bring their vinyl records and they play them on the turntable. Great music, great sound, great beer, great vibe and great waiting staff... why not? They tend to change up their menu, which actually makes sense due to the fact they want to serve what is Fresh and they are a MICRO-brewer. On top of this logic, it is also a great way to have you try something different. One evening you'll find your favourite, abuse it and love it! The next time you go, you can't find it so you start all over again and find a new favourite. 1 downside, it tends to close too early on some nights, but then again I can understand. read more

This place was amazing. They have really good fresh beers with a laid back friendly vibe to the place . My girlfriend and I were up from Boston for a long weekend and we stopped here our first and last night in town. The beers are SUPER fresh and the individual ingredients really stand out. They had a few really interesting brews as well as some very tasty standards. The cask stout was awesome, the pale ale was so goddamn good, probably my favorite. And the Scotch ale was wonderful. There was an ale that was made with champagne yeast that was very unique and tasty, as well as an equally unique ale that was made with honey. The staff was great. We sat at the bar both times and had different bartenders both times. They were all equally very friendly and spoke great English, sadly we don't speak French! :( The head brewmaster happened to be there on our first night and he and I had a great conversation about making beer and small craft breweries in the states and just how the landscape of craft beer is right now. Really nice guy! The clientele seemed to be a mix of locals and hipsters. Their beer was so good that on our way home we stopped at the Metro grocery store and bought some of their beers to bring home. I'm still dreaming of that pale ale. I don't live in Quebec City. If I did I would be a regular and I probably wouldn't post a review because I wouldn't want tourists coming in and ruining my favorite place. But I'm a tourist. And if you are like me and try to sample local beer wherever you are, then get your malt and hop lovin' ass to this place right now! I spend a lot of time in queens, NY and Chicago, IL: two places in the middle of a craft beer renaissance. This place got its own page in my photo album for my trip to Quebec City - it is in an odd place, as in, you don't expect such an awesome brewery far from the touristy area of Vieux Quebec, but it turned out to be a convenient place for my boyfriend and I as we were coming back from the station. We had gone to Montreal for a day and we ended up walking from the station to here in the snow near Christmas time. The place was decorated nicely for Christmas of course, and I really liked everything they had put in the carousel sampler that day. From dark Russian Imperial Stout to IPA (even if I have had a million of IPAs back in California). They apparently do cool things like cheese and beer night, which we could not go back for because we were flying home. Great patio to hang and drink. They have snacks for purchase and as a first timer here, I always ask for a flight. Here, they give you eight 5 Oz glasses! I wanted to try them all, but had to share.. I couldn't knock back that many this day.. haha. I liked about half of them, but that's normal since it ranges from light to dark and everyone has a preference on what type of beer they like. Luckily my uncle, whom I shared, also liked about half of them. We finished it off and asked for our stamp for our microbrewery tour map (ask them about this.. fun way to explore!). The atmosphere was fantastic- quite the local brew pub feel. The terrace / patio seating was very relaxing- part of the little neighborhood just outside of the more touristy part of Old Quebec. The cream ale, red ale, and oatmeal stout were solid - straight up the middle hits for those categories. The raptor sours were more adventurous and fruity (and a little sweet, if that's your thing). Solid beer, but not technically a real "brewpub", I would classify it as a microbrewery with a taproom. brewpub generally denotes the "pub" has food which this place does not. I would go back for a couple pints for sure, but would head to a different spot for lunch or dinner. That said, the beers I had were good, bartenders were friendly, and they had a good selection (IPAs to Chocolate Stouts...) If this place had a kitchen it could be 5 stars read more

Amazing beers. They use a 250 year old yeast from the old town walls of a brewery apparently. And now they've got a Randall. What's that? Well, it filters fresh beer through fresh hops just before it's poured. We stop in every time we're going or coming through town. If your French is spotty, get ready for the skill testing question. Let me preface this by saying I've been to a ton of breweries, both large and small, known and unknown and I've gotta say this gem in Quebec is among the best. Of the 8 beers they had on tap the day I went, all were extremely well done; even the styles I typically don't care for were (Hefeweizen) good. They have this "sangria beer" which is the best wine inspired beer I've had. It tops the 61 minute IPA and Black and Blue that Dogfish brews, which is tough to do. They had a sour on tap, love that. My favorite of the day? This lime framboise that was insanely refreshing. Aside from the beer, service was great and super friendly. Especially considering my French is absolutely non existent. Really great deck out back. Limited food options, eat before you go. $18 CAD for a flight of 8, 5 oz pours. Can't beat it. The world needs more local breweries like this. read more

La Barbarie was one of my husband's must go places because he likes beer and he loves the interesting variety that he can get when on vacation. He tried the whole flight of beer, which was more beer than he probably would have preferred. It's probably a better fit for two tasters as opposed to one. They had the whole gamut of beers, from light to dark, with different flavors as well. Though he drank them all, the beers themselves did not really knock his socks off. We enjoyed, the ambience and were surprised to see several women here as a similar location in Boston would have a lot more men. Some people were chilling on the patio even though it was a bit chilly for us in October. The Wi-Fi was also welcome for me since I was not sampling all of the bieres. I am in Quebec for a business trip and based on other reviews decided to come here. Great choice of beer on tap; the IPA I had was great. Service was a bit slow but the food by the traiteur found on location was really good and only for 8.50$! Chill place with plenty of space outside. We did a flight of 8 beers, most of which we really enjoyed. The atmosphere was great and our server was nice. We chose 4 stars instead of 5 because we weren't fans of not being able to start a tab and needed to cash out for each round of drinks purchased, and the snack options were chips, pretzels, microwave popcorn and mackerel. read more

Go here and hang out with the staff. This is a co-op with sooooo much heart. They have an open BBQ on special days where you can bring your own meat! They have a 'menu' full of delivery menus from all kinds of local restaurants with stickers showing their favourite items! They have beautiful pottery jugs by a local Quebec artist that keep your beer deliciously cold! They have great big growlers you can buy to take out! And they are so nice and friendly and cool and laid back. The bar has great outdoor and indoor seating and tons and tons of beer recipes from over the years. Try the flight of samplers to get a taste of what they have on offer at any given time, not all the beers I has a chance to try were my favourite, but I liked the Saison and the Coffee Stout, and loved the heart and gardens and overall vibe at this kooky spot by the highway off the tourist-beaten path in Quebec City. read more

Yes! This is how it should be done. Beer brewed on site. No TVs. Amazing area to sit, relax, and have a pint. The beer itself is great, so fresh and artistically done.
