Cannot recommend enough! My friends and I went on a brewery tour for a birthday celebration, and we had the best time. First of all, our tour guide Cindy was great. She was super chill and fun, and just the kind of person you want to go beer tasting with. She is extremely knowledgeable about brewing, so it was awesome to hear about how the different beers are made, and understand why they taste the way they do. Second, can we talk about the fact that a fun bus picks you up and drives you to your preselected list of breweries? That alone is cause for celebration. And third, the beer tastings were tasty and varied, which I very much appreciated. We tried lagers, IPAs, porters, saisons, wheat ales, etc. A total of 12 tastings, and all expertly picked. We celebrated my sons bday with LA beer hop this past. We had a amazing time! I don't think anyone in our party knew they had brewery's in LA it was a eye opener for sure. We went to Mumford, iron triangle and boomtown brewery's. All of them had a great vibe and friendly service. Merek was our tour guide, he was very knowledgeable, friendly and personable. One word: AMAZING! From start to finish, Both Hal & Cindy made the whole experience unforgettable. I was planning a surprise Birthday for my husband and wanted to do something different, incorporating what the hubby loves, BEER & FAMILY! BOOM! This is where LA Beer Hop came into play. I had reached out to LA Beer Hop on Yelp Message. Hal responded right away, ready to help any way he can. He was great, available to all my hundred questions, back and forth. He was always pleasant and helpful. Cindy was our driver and can I just say, "CINDY ROCKS!" Cindy knows her stuff! Fun, intelligent, super cute, fit in perfect with our loud, wild family. We took the DTLA Central Tour. Mumford Brewery was our first stop. Iron Triangle was our second stop, Boomtown was the closer. Each brewery special in their own right, but Iron Triangle was the fan fav. Cindy shared her expertise at each stop, educating us on all there is to know about beer and brew of, which I found very interesting. She even took us on a "behind the scenes tour" at Iron Triangle. In the spirit of 'know your audience' my wife suggested a birthday beer tour for me. LA Beer Hop was our group chaperone for the day. We reached this decision after reading all the great Yelp reviews - thanks Yelp nation, you didn't let me down. My wife coordinated everything with the corporate office, who she said was really easy to work with. They have several brewery affiliations and multiple means of transportation. My group of 21 required a big bus, which was outside of the vans that they own. The bus was a HUGE luxury liner, it was plush with a clean bathroom, very nice accommodations. Our driver was Kim and she was great. Our private beer meister for the day was Merek, a super nice guy with great beer knowledge. He did and admirable job of getting us situated at every stop, and getting us on the road in a timely manner. Merek, I had a great birthday, thanks for sharing your beer knowledge and being a great guide. Our three locations were Smog City Brewing, Phantom Carriage Brewery, and HopSaint Brewing. They were all solid (see individual reviews). We had food at our last stop, HopSaint Brewing which posed a small challenge as they didn't have a table large enough to accommodate our group. Not sure where the coordination confusion came from, but Merek and the LA Beer Hop team were exemplary in their professionalism at addressing the situation. Our experience with LA Beer Hop was amazing. I had a friend in town who didn't want to do the typical touristy things so this was perfect. Mitch (who knows so much about beer) picked a group of us from my apartment and took us downtown to visit three breweries that we planned on ahead of time. The Iron Triangle (great atmosphere), Imperial Western (at Union Station and has great food), and Boomtown (really cool, but was crowded when we got there). I booked a tour for my boyfriend's birthday and it was the best decision ever. Hal gave us a great tour of South Bay's finest craft breweries. He's extremely knowledgable and taught us all about the beers we were tasting. Monkish was our favorite of the South Bay breweries! Hal was the best guide ever, handled our large, loud party with ease and let us take our time tasting and touring each brewery. He let us rock out to our own tunes in the shuttle and we filled the shuttle cooler with drinks and snacks that we could chow on between stops. We took a little downtown/East La-ish beer tour this past Saturday and had ourselves a BLAST!!! Hal knows his stuff, he is always ready to answer questions and encourages them. He selected some very fine beers for us, and overall I think we found something we enjoyed at every brewery. ***Warning*** This is NOT a party bus!!! Yes you drink beers and you'll probably get tipsey but there are NO stripper poles. So go into this knowing that you'll be drinking some very fantastic craft beers and enjoy Los Angeles. At the end of the tour Hal dropped us off at Arts District Brewery. They had some fine beers as well but it was very much about a bar experience as opposed to a Tap Room. I recommend this highly. Can't say enough about how great this tour was! I booked way in advance for my fiances birthday. It was surprise so of course I wanted it to turn out amazing! We did the private tour on Saturday at noon with all his friends and cousins. We had such a blast, time went by so fast! Everyone that went had so much fun and they all want to do it again!! That's how fun it was! As for my fiancé, he's been thanking me for a good 24 hours straight haha. He absolutely loved it! Our beer guide was Matt, very very knowledgable and super chill! We went to Mumford, Brewyard and Golden Road. All had great beer selections but my favorite one was Brewyard, I loved every single tester we had. Can't remember the names (we were all pretty buzzed by then) but they were all good :) We are actually looking into booking another one soon! We highly highly recommend LA beer hop! Not that I need to add to the popularity of this tour, but it was awesome. My group did the Central and East LA tour hosted by Hal. We visited Iron Triangle, Mumford and Boomtown. The first location was the most extensive (while everyone's attention level is still on point.) We did a walk through of the entire brewery and learned about the brewing process. Hal was very knowledgeable and did a great job answering all questions. The tour is set up to enjoy any way you please. If you want to sit and chat about the complexities of each beer at each location, you can. If you want to do your own thing, no big deal. If you want to throw back as many beers as possible at each location, go for it...just don't be an idiot. (One flight is provided at each brewery, you pay for anything extra) On this tour, time in bus was at a minimum, we were within a 10 minute drive to each location, which was perfect, at no point did we feel rushed at any of the locations. I would definitely book with LA Beer Hop again. They were also very responsive via email leading up to the tour. Thanks for a great time guys! read more

What an amazing experience touring the Orange County breweries with LA beer hop. We booked a private bus to celebrate my boyfriends birthday with our closest friends and everything was beyond expectation. They even let us play our own music on our private bus. The bus picked us up at noon and we quickly arrived at our first stop where we were even given a free souvenir shot glass. If you get hungry along the way the food truck at noble ale works(mess hall) was incredibly delicious best seafood grilled cheese I have ever had! 1.Anaheim brewery 2.Noble ale works 3.Valiant brewery Our tour guide was Peter and he did a great job explaining our tasters at each brewery! Have you ever seen an angel in real life? If not, you haven't met Hal. The heavenly DD. LA Beer Tour was so fun! We went to three different breweries and at no point did I question the decision of where we were going. Hal was so confident in explaining what these places were about, you just knew it was a good decision. We got samples at each location and we loved how Hal was so knowledgeable when it came to beer. He wasnt just there to take us from place to place, he was there to take us from place to place and educate us on the beer process as well. I cant wait to schedule another tour sometime soon. I love this company, from beginning to end. I planned a surprise birthday beer tour for my fiancé and his friend. When I was booking the tour I spoke with Hal and Cindy. They are so warm and friendly, such sweet people. Once everything was planned I was told that Peter would be our guide. Peter is awesome!!! Awesome day of beer tasting with Hal! I booked a tour for 6 of us for my fiancé's 30th birthday on a sunny Saturday afternoon. They do pick ups from the metro station which was super convenient. We went to Eagle Rock, Mumford and Iron Triangle. Hal took us on a full tour at each brewery and was very knowledgable about the brewing process and beer industry. We tasted 4 beers at each stop. Hal, you are an absolute saint, a man amongst men and the coolest of all cucumbers. Yeah, our tour ended a bit sooner than we expected, but it was for very good reason. As a group we transformed from a quiet, hungover cocoon of hibernating beer sipping caterpillars, into a rare, evil breed of fanged butterflies with venomous fangs and an appetite for excess and stupidity. Only one man was able to tame this bunch, and that man was, Hal. The LA Beer Hop was the highlight of a weekend full of escapades for a buddy's bachelor party and for good reason. We were picked up right on time, he accepted credit cards and cash on the bus, the tour was well planned and timed perfectly, Hal knows his beer and introduced me to my favorite beer bar in the area, The Glendale Tap. We stuffed our faces and nursed our hangovers at Golden Road while Hal brought us out pitcher after pitcher of great beer. They know this guy around here and he'll walk your group in and out, no hassle or hangups. Oh man oh man. Hal 9000. Or Hal for short is the man behind this Beer Bus Tour Extravaganza. I first found out about this when I was browsing Facebook one day and saw that Mohawk Bend had a post about how every top of the month on a Wednesday there is the LA Beer Hop that picks you up in front of the restaurant and takes you on a Willy Wonka Whirlwind Beer Adventure. I was down. I show up a tad bit early and saw the sign Hal was holding and quickly hopped on the bus. (Note about going on this tour, BRING BEER, you can drink on the bus!) Its only $5 for the whole ride, an AMAZING deal! We then proceeded to head off to Tony's Darts Away and then to round out the night, Golden Road! Overall, an amazing experience and I plan on going again when the first Wednesday of the month rolls around. See ya there! read more

We were on the same tour as Jessie S. (below) and couldn't have had a more different experience! Hal was our guide and was incredibly knowledgeable. The group I was with has been on multiple beer tours all around the country, and we each walked away learning something new. I emailed with Hal several days before the tour to get all the details, and had an easy time locating the shuttle. We had a really fun group of beer enthusiasts on the trip which made it all the more fun. We were given plenty of drinks (5 at the first location, 5 at the 2nd location and 3 at the last location) and were able to sample a wide range of beers - ales, sours (that was a new experience!) lagers, stouts and heffs - there was definitely something for everyone! The coolest part of the tour was being taken to all the hidden gems in LA - Angel City Brewery, Sunset Beer Co and Golden Road - none of which I had ever been too! As a mid-twenty year old (still have a few years til I hit the mid-thirties) I thought this tour was a solid experience and would recommend it to any beer-loving Angeleno. What a perfect way to spend my birthday! My private group went on the Beach Cities tour. Cindy and Hal provided top-notch customer service! Prior to the event, they answered all my questions clearly and promptly. We were privileged to have Cindy as our tour guide. She's really fun, energetic, and sweet! Also very knowledgeable and provided facts throughout the tour. Everyone loved her! All the breweries that were selected for us to visit were SO GOOD! Smog City's Groundwork Coffee Porter and Seme Della Vita at Monkish Brewing were my favorites of the day. Tip: Pack a snack/goodie basket for the tour, as the breweries allow you to enjoy your own food inside. We took sandwiches, chips, beef jerky, etc... You can even bring your own alcohol on the bus! PRO: No deposit required and they handle all the payments directly with each individual on the day of the tour. CON(S): Really can't think of any! The bus was very clean and nice and our tour guide Hal was wonderful. Such a genius idea. We had 3 stops on our LA East side beer tour. First we went to the Stone tasting room in Pasadena, then to Eagle Rock brewery, and last we went to Golden Road brewery in Glendale. Hal was very informative at each location and gave us recommendations on what to try. For the ride and beer tastings it is a very reasonable price. Only $65 which is unheard of in LA. The bride-to-be loved it just as much as we did. I will tell all of my LA friends to definitely check them out! $5 got me a ride to three of Tony's bars during their Wed Night Bar Hop. Not bad at all. Not bad at all... The company chauffeured us around in a shuttle bus and a van (depending on who you got). It stated that they would come around every 45 minutes for a pick-up, but it didn't always work out that way. We ended up at Mohawk Bend for a little over an hour, unsure of whether we should buy another round or not before the next ride showed up, and then having to gulp it down to make that ride when it finally did make it back. Meh. Blame the traffic. It's all good. In the grand scheme of things, we still paid $5 to get from Silverlake to Burbank to Atwater Village and back. Loved that! There seemed to be some disconnect between what specials the bars were supposed to have and what they where offering that night. We had been told that bars would be offering snacks and $4 drink specials...we later came to find out that the drink specials only applied to Golden Road beers. Meh. As for the snacks? Mohawk Bend was the only one that stayed true to their word...offering up some spicy pistachios and popcorn. No snacks at the other two locations. And the "swag" we were offered at Golden Road was lame. $65 seems a bit steep for a tour, but hey, maybe I'll check it out. read more

We had such a blast on our beer tour last weekend, I will definitely recommend it if you are a beer drinker!! I planned a private tour for my boyfriends 32nd birthday with 11 of our closes friends. It cost us 65 per person because our party was of 13. The bus was super spacious, well kept, and very clean. Hal took us to 3 different breweries were we sampled about four different drinks. Our alcoholic group first thought that wouldn't be enough but we r not talking about your average Bud Light here, the alcohol content is very high and yummy!! What a great time!! A group of friends reserved a private beer hop tour on a Thursday night and hit up Golden Road, Tony's Darts Away, and Mohawk Bend. It was $15 a piece for 15 people and they picked us up at Union Station. So convenient. There is a cooler on board if you want to BYOB but I would suggest picking up some 4 packs or a growler of the local brew at Golden Road. There is also and audio jack if you want to bring your own tunes. Since none of us did, our driver hooked it up with his iPod and we rocked one heck of a drunken sing-a-long in the van! Props to our awesome tour guide! (don't recall his name, sorry!) They let us stay at each bar however long we wanted (within reason to end the night on time) so we didn't feel rushed at each place. We had time for a few beers and for people to order food at every bar. In the end, we were back to Union Station a little after 11pm... and definitely feeling good. I can't wait to get out again. Not only was a Beer tour the best birthday present, I learned a ton about the process of making beer. We joined the East-Side tour (Golden Road, Eagle Rock breweries) and drank some of the best brews in Los Angeles. Hal (the tour guide & owner of LA Beer Hop) was extremely knowledgable and got us plenty buzzed as we toured the production floors. Also, my wife and I were thrilled that we could buy some beers at Golden Road and keep drinking them on the bus. The group taking the tour was fun and the other couples were really cool and shared dinner with us at the end of the night. LA Beer Hop is such a great experience. Not only do you get to learn about beer, but you get to drink it too! We organized it for a friend's birthday and had a great time. We did the east side tour which takes you to Golden Road, Eagle Rock, and Angel City downtown. Each of these places offered a unique experience from the small, local atmosphere of Eagle Rock to the huge restaurant space of Golden Road (they also have awesome games outside). Cindy was our guide and she was the best. Super outgoing and fun and she really cared about ensuring that everyone of us had a great time. Everything was handled through Hal who was really professional and helpful. All in all, this was a great experience and something I would recommend for everyone, especially if you want to learn the ins and outs of the craft brewing scene. I booked a private tour with Hal for my birthday, and had such an amazing time! There were 11 of us total and we did an O.C. brewery tour. Everyone had a blast, and we really enjoyed experiencing some new breweries (Bootleggers, The Bruery, Taps). Hal was extremely knowledgable and answered all our beer and brewery-related questions with ease. A few of my friends told me afterwards that they loved talking to him! He was also cool with us bringing some food and drinks on the bus for the ride down there - that plus my friend "DJ'ing" with his ipod made it a really awesome drive! I went on a beer tour for my friend's 30th birthday. We had a private tour and Hal was our driver. It was amazing! Hal showed up a little early and got all the business out of the way up front. The bus provides water and a cooler and you can bring extra alcohol and snacks for the bus ride. We had a great selection of Torrance breweries and Hal gave us some info on how beer is brewed which was neat. Hal had great recommendations for what we should try and was happy to answer questions. Bonus: LA Beer Hop does not require a deposit for parties and will take cash or credit cards on the bus from everybody, so as the host you don't have to worry about handling the money or paying upfront. read more

We recently rented out the bus with a bunch of friends to take around our local neighborhood to check out Christmas lights. We made the reservation about a month in advance and had constant communication with Hal, the owner, leading up to our event. We were able to bring whatever food or drinks on the bus. Hal was our personal driver and was totally cool with whatever music we wanted to play and having our own personal craft bottle share on the bus. The bus was extremely clean but unfortunately not equipped with a bathroom but Hal had no problems with making a detour for us to use the bathroom. Our two-hour trip was perfect and all 12 of us are going to rent out the LA Beer Hop real soon! I definitely recommend getting a group together and hitting up some breweries or bars. Loved loved loved my experience on my la beer hop tour! Hal and Cindy (your beer guides) are very knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and all around genuinely cool people.. I went on the last Los Angeles/North LA/East LA tour to Sunset Brewing Co., Eagle Rock brewery, and Golden Road Brewery and had nothing short of a blast... This trip was a gift (that I sort of went on a limb for) for my boyfriend for valentines day and I was definitely not disappointed.. Each place consisted of at least three generous beer tastings with detailed descriptions and insights into how they were made and one visit even included a small brewery tour... It was actually a nice surprise since this wasn't listed in the tour description. Every person on the tour was also polite and considerate (which may have just been lucky) and also made for an especially pleasant experience A few tips for this particular tour is that they pick up in front of union station in the loading area inlet at the north end of the front entrance (directly across from olvera st)... They were on time and very punctual the rest of the tour.. The small cute bus is in an egg shell color and actually says la beer hop on the side and beer tour in big writing on the front.. You are provided with a short and funny disclaimer at the beginning of the tour before being given wrist bands and another funny disclaimer/liability form to sign.. And then you're off on your beer adventure! (FYI u can buy beers while out and actually drink them on the bus... SO FUN) Another tip for all your future beer adventurists would be to eat a meal before you go.. My boyfriend and I made the mistake of only eating an oatmeal breakfast beforehand which unfortunately meant we got buzzed VERY quickly and devoured an entire bowl of pretzels at the second brewery stop... Thankfully our last stop was Golden Road which meant we could order food All in all, it's definitely worth dedicating a day to a beer tour with la beer hop..
