    Tasting room

What a cool fun spot we found. Nicely decorated distillery tasting room. Friendly knowledgeable staff. We ordered the tasting flight. Our favorites were the gin and vodka. Gin had some nice botanicals, smooth with a nice finish. Vodka had some fun flavors and was smooth. We bought a few bottles. The bourbon was pretty good too. Can't wait to make some gin n tonics at home with their gin.

Hollywood Distillery is one of those spots that just feels right the second you walk in. You can tell they actually care about what they're pouring and it shows. The Rose Oasis is a must! light, floral, and smooth, made with their Oasis Vodka from Coachella Valley dates, it goes down so easy you forget it's liquor. The staff is knowledgeable, and full of good vibes. Great drinks, great energy, hard not to love this place. it's an great spot for events or special occasions, plus their tours let you see exactly how everything's made. Definitely one to check out if you want a fun venue and a little behind the scenes magic.

Had no idea a distillery would be in LA. Went after finding out and I'm glad I did. All the spirits were soo unique. The vodka was surprisingly the best. Very unique. Staff were super nice and knowledgeable. The tasting and tour was amazing. Definitely a spot to check out if your into distilleries.

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported somewhere else. Every room is thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere is immersive and unlike anything we've experienced before. The storyteller was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of alcohol and the stories behind each tasting. The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. Some guests may appreciate a heads-up, especially those who might feel uncomfortable or triggered by that arrangement. After the tastings, you're taken outside. A few of us stopped to use the restroom first, and when we returned, our friend had already left the table and all of our drinks had been cleared away. We were disappointed because we hadn't finished them. Our friend had been told she couldn't take the drinks with her, but when we returned we could take them outside. She was told that they'd be there when we got back. We were disappointed. The outdoor portion of the experience also felt a bit rushed. We barely had time to enjoy our drinks, let alone take photos of the beautiful space. The beignets at the end, however, were absolutely delicious and a highlight of the evening! Finally, we were escorted to the members-only bar, which was stunning. It gave off major Harry Potter vibes with its hidden, magical atmosphere. One of my friends was still finishing her drink on the patio since we couldn't legally walk on the sidewalk with it. Our hostess told us she'd come back for us but she never did. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. I'm hoping our hostess was simply having an off day, because with more attentive service, this experience could easily be five stars.

The location is a bit hidden and the operations is small, but the quality of their spirits is quite impressive. There will also be a tasting with crackers and water to cleanse the palate. My favorite was the Skyline Gin, Espresso Liqueur (I can imagine Karen rolling her eyes ), and the Peated Whiskey. Karen was so wonderful from start to finish. She loves getting to know people and I loved hearing her stories. I could listen to them for days and learn so much from her and about her! She's very personable and very talkative, but she's very knowledgeable as well. Buckle up for at least a 2 hour experience. Located in a business warehouse plaza, you'll sit together getting to know one another and get background information on Karen and Greg's life which was nice to hear. The small warehouse packs a huge punch of information you receive. You get to understand how everything works and everything that Greg makes which was fun to learn about. Once you sit down and start tasting is where the most fun starts. They provide you with some water crackers and a lesson about drinking water and hydrating. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to find out more about Avital Tours. I found out they've been featured on national magazines and television shows from CNN to Travel Channel, and rank high on Yelp and TripAdvisor. I also discovered that the company started off in San Francisco. They're a food tour company that's built by locals for locals. So you don't have to be a tourist to take a tour. In fact, most of the people in the event I was at are all LA locals, who work and live in Southern California. The Los Angeles tours are broken down into 3 tour versions: - To a tourist visiting LA, looking for more than touristy destinations - To a local who wants to learn more about our great city - To a company who wants to do team building I decided to select The Local, which is a 3 hour walking tour. looking They offer 4-course progressive prix-fixe dining experience that begins with a welcome drink and then visits 4 restaurants in 3 hours - two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert, with a sprinkling of culinary history and stories in between. There are 2 walking tours to choose from: - Downtown LA - Venice Beach They also added a Korea Town Food Tour which is limited to 12 people. Prices for the 3 hour tours are (16+ yrs): $79.00, or with alcohol (21+ yrs): $95.00. If you need a unique gift, they offer gift cards. It's quite an ideal event for a girls night, celebration, or even a group outing where you can re-discover Los Angeles as a local, hosted by a fellow local. Private events are available, with a 6 person minimum.
