I knew we were coming down to the area for our anniversary trip. So I found this place in my search. Brewlihan and Rebecca did not disappoint. I started with the serum flight: raspberry lemonade, pear vanilla, black berry currant vanilla and strawberry watermelon. The first 2 were delicious. With my favorite being the pear vanilla. Then Rebecca started to bring me a few others to try. Nothing beat the pear vanilla. So we moved on to the full meads. So the difference is, the serums run about 5.8abv and the meads are about 12-15abv. I came home with 2 bottles of mead. The double pear vanilla and the catalyst. The double pear vanilla is self explanatory. However, the Catalyst is tangerine and pineapple age for 27 weeks in a Grand Marnier barrel. The taste is amazing. I would definitely comeback. The selection of Italian wines was amazing as they mostly came from small craft vineyards as in the type that would only supply a few select restaurants, but because of their limited capacity, not something like the big box wine chains such as Total Wines. Having spent considerable time in in the smaller country like regions of Italy, I quickly learned that I never had to purchase a bottle of wine as any restaurant house wines were the equal if not superior to any I'd find in a retail bottle. The secret behind it was that these restaurants were supplied by the small craft like vineyards. We've come here a few times, our dog was welcome, staff were friendly and outgoing, offering us various tabletop games like tic-tac-toe to pass the time, and once we'd both ordered a few glasses of wine, they offered us complimentary popcorn - something they normally charge for. Wines on their "by the glass" menu average about $16 each, and most staff pour them behind the bar where they have a gauge to measure out each one. The food prep area behind the bar is quite small (which is why they don't have a large menu), but so is this little gem of a wine spot in general. It's cozy, eclectic and great for a glass of wine and a small snack, or a nightcap after having dinner elsewhere. It's good for singles at the bar, or an intimate spot for couples and smaller groups. Vinoteca seems to have found their niche, and they've filled it quite nicely.
