I sought out what La Bitta because the friend I was planning to dine with is allergic to fish, so we needed someplace different from the standard Venetian cuisine. Some of the reviews I read said it was "The Best non-fish Restaurant in Venice", but it was anything but :-(
Tip: This was one of the worst restaurants I've eaten at in Venice over the course of multiple visits; the value proposition is sub-par, the menu is too limited, the service is slow and the atmosphere is lacking.
The cost of our two entrées and two desserts, with nothing else except for bread and tap water, was 95 Euros! To add insult to injury the portions were small, our food wasn't properly cooked, and the food descriptions claimed more than there was (i.e., their Bacon wrapped steak contains no bacon). Additionally, the venue was very cramped and we found ourselves sharing a table with another couple, which put a decided damper on your dinner conversation.
I fail to understand why the other reviews are so positive, but I can't recommend this restaurant, and won't be back. read more
