Aside from the fact that my first surgery was canceled, and they didn't bother to notify me. I had to keep calling twice a day to ask if I had a new surgeon and Kayt being told I would be notified. I wasn't. I had to keep calling every single day. That's after waiting for six weeks, which, for a bicep tear is on the outside of when it should be affective. Now as a result of delay after delay and excuse after excuse, instead of having a small 2 inch scar I have a giant, Frankenstein looking scar in the middle of my arm. Now, three months later, I'm trying to do my follow up post-op appointment. And for the second week in a row, it was canceled. The second time, they didn't even bother to notify me so I had to drive all the way out there only to find a waiting room full of people, all, asking the same questions: where the hell is the doctor? The excuse was, he had an emergency surgery in the morning. But this was 3:30 in the afternoon and they still didn't bother to call any of us. Everyone there is very polite, and always apologetic, which they wouldn't need to do if they actually just did their job (you know, like actually notifying patients when the doctor isn't even there and needs to cancel.). So, if this is your only option, then I guess you have to take it. But their communication is absolutely terrible. NOT RECOMMENDED. read more

Avoid If You Value Patient Care My mother fractured her wrist and needed follow-up care. She is disabled, does not speak English, and cannot drive. Despite explaining these limitations repeatedly, the scheduling staff seemed completely indifferent. After nearly 45 minutes on the phone trying to coordinate an appointment that I could attend with her, we were finally scheduled at the Thousand Oaks office. Then, the day before the appointment, we were told she could not be seen there because they did not have the necessary imaging available and would need to travel to Encino instead. Why was the appointment scheduled there in the first place? Nobody seemed to have the answer. When I asked to reschedule in Encino, I was told that only the PA who originally applied the cast could remove it and that this provider was only available on Tuesdays. The entire process felt driven by office convenience rather than patient needs. The communication between offices was terrible. The scheduling process was chaotic. No one seemed willing to take ownership of the problem or help a disabled patient navigate her care. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of coordination after the cast was removed. Rather than arranging physical therapy, they simply handed my mother paperwork and told her to get a referral from her primary care physician. As a result, more than a week has passed since cast removal and she still has not started physical therapy, delaying her recovery. Healthcare providers should be advocating for patients, especially elderly and disabled patients facing language and transportation barriers. I rated them 1 star because I had to in order to post this review. I unfortunately would not recommend that anyone receive treatment at this facility. The medical care was okay, but the customer service is one of the worst, if not the worst that I have ever received. I left numerous messages for someone to call me back in order to get a prescription for physical therapy, which was being required by the place where I was doing PT. After I left numerous messages and after calling numerous times and eventually pressing an option to reach different departments, I was finally able to reach a live person in the scheduling department. That was the only way I was able to get someone to call me back. I was finally able to get a new prescription for physical therapy, but not before I had to miss 3 weeks of physical therapy because no one from this doctor's office called me back in time. All of that doesn't even include the calls that the PT agency that also made calls to this facility to try to get a renewed prescription...no one ever responded to them. It's ironic that they're outgoing voicemail message clearly states that they will call you back within 24 hours. What's the point of receiving medical care from a place who neglects your medical needs. It seems unethical read more

My experience with LA Bone and Joint Institute in Encino, CA has been extremely disappointing. I saw Dr. Healthy Desai, M.D., in November 2025 for severe hand pain and was advised that I would need surgery. I completed all required testing in December, and had a follow-up visit where I was told the office would contact me to schedule the procedure. It is now nearly the end of March 2026--over three months later--and I still have no surgery date, despite ongoing pain. Repeated calls to the main number (818-477-0787) go unanswered, and messages are not returned despite the stated 24-hour callback policy. I even went to the office in person and was assured I would receive a call back, which never happened. The scheduler, Francisco Cardenas (ext. 1009), has been consistently unavailable and did not follow through, even after speaking with me directly in the office. This lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable for a medical practice, especially when patients are waiting for necessary care. I have now had to schedule another appointment just to try to move this forward. I hope the office improves its responsiveness, as patients deserve timely and reliable communication read more

This place TOTALLY sucks-- you'll never get an appointment after the initial consult. They have NO portal - it's truly a bunch of third worlders- you won't get an email returned -- 'customer service' routes to a totally clueless Phillipines call center who couldn't even figure out how to email my MRI. I'm really disappointed with this office. They incorrectly filled out my DMV disability placard paperwork, which caused a huge inconvenience and forced me to come back -- costing me extra time, gas, and frustration while I'm already injured. Then they charged me a $20 fee for their own mistake. When I asked if that policy was written anywhere, I was told it wasn't. That's completely unfair. Patients shouldn't have to pay for staff errors, especially when no written policy exists. Honestly, they should consider hiring someone with a bit more common sense or logic, because my explanation didn't seem to register with the receptionist, Cindy. It made no sense that I'd be charged for something caused by their error. This kind of unprofessional handling makes the whole experience feel careless and inconsiderate. I hope management reviews this so future patients aren't penalized for something that clearly isn't their fault. read more

I have seen several doctors in this practice for different orthopedic conditions .Dr. Jofnathan Blauor for knee pain, Dr.Alisa Alayan for back issues, and Dr. Salman Aljilan for a pain specialist . Dr. Salman Aljilani is extremely knowledgeable and kind. Both qualities are necessary in a Pain Care Specialist. I feel lucky I was referred to him. He started with an overall care plan and outlined how we would proceed. He listened very carefully to my symptoms and concerns. He did not just "push pain meds at me. I just had my first "Procedure" everything went smoothly. The back office staff was great. Friendly and efficient. I know there are some complaints here about the front office, but I think they have improved. I called to change my upcoming appointment, which was easy and the male receptionist was very accommodating and kind. read more

I have to agree, this office needs new management. Dr. Blau is excellent, however I believe he's an employee of the practice, not the owner. The front desk is quite unfriendly and if you want to call the office, you're out of luck. You reach a voicemail. One week ago I called about refilling a prescription. Today I discovered that the refills are in my CVS account, but I hadn't been notified that it had been taken care of. I hope the owner of this practice is reading their current reviews. read more

I had a great experience here until the doctor. I was seeing left and I was transferred to another doctor. Today was my first day, also my last. It started half hour before my appointment when the receptionist called saying they couldn't find me in the Insurance portal so I would have to cancel the appointment and reschedule it when the insurance got figured out. There was no issue with my insurance. I told her I would get insurance on the line and she said regardless I had to reschedule the appointment. I literally had insurance on one phone and her on the other and had to threaten to leave bad social media reviews until finally she "spoke with someone and she found my name in the system and I was able to come in at my regularly scheduled time", what a coincidence all that just happened all of a sudden. Once I was there, I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time before I was seen and the appointment was at 9 AM so I don't know how they were that far behind. Then when I get inside the new doctor examined my hand said it'll probably take six months to get better. He can write me a prescription of physical therapy and he doesn't need to see me again unless I want to see him but there's no reason for him to see me again. How are you my doctor and you're supposed to help me get better but you don't need to see me again. Clearly you didn't want to see me in the first place. So if you want proper medical care because you're going through a health issue that you would depend on these doctors for, pick any other place besides this one. NIGHTMARE do not go here. only good thing is dr. bustos was so nice but they are a nightmare. had to wait TWO MONTHS to get an appt. then spend 2 mins with dr. then see another dr alisa alayan was so rude. telling her about nerve pain in my arm hand she said she didnt care about my arms. only my neck WTF so rude. took two weeks to send in request for emg test with another dr. waiting that long when someone is in pain. unprofessional rude and full of herself. furthermore the office pretends to be nice then ignored my emails and calls. i asked for manager and she didnt answer me either. who does that its pathetic.
