Upon walking in, I was impressed by the amount of space there was inside. There were many full tables of people when we arrived past noon, and I loved seeing the wide assortment of green plants scattered throughout the cafe. We got a couple of things: an Almond Croissant, Bulgogi Poutine, a Lavender London Fog with oat milk, and a Peppermint Mocha with oat milk. My Almond Croissant was okay. I know almond croissants are made with leftover pastries, but there was no texture at all. It just fell flat, and lookswise it was physically flat as well lol. It was alright. I wouldn't get the almond croissant again. The Bulgogi Poutine was pretty good. The fries were delicious and crispy. The sauce on top of the fries was slightly sweet, salty, and savory. For me, the bulgogi could've been more flavorful and it didn't taste fresh but I liked the overall dish. Lastly, the Peppermint Mocha was alright. It wasn't spectacular. And I felt the same way about my Lavender London Fog with oat milk. I wish there was more depth in my drink. I think the tea could've been steeped a little longer. Flavor was there in my drink, but it wasn't strong enough. It was slightly disappointing since I've had amazing London Fogs before, and this one just wasn't up to par. Also my drink was slightly warm, not too far off from lukewarm. I feel like the price doesn't exactly correlate with quality for most things here. If we come back here, I'd be willing to try different things and pastries. But I don't think my rating would change much. read more

I found the prices high but the Bennys were good. There was lots of parking and most of the waiting was in line giving our order. There were plenty of tables. I found the ambiance a bit austere to my taste. Like McDonalds without the bright colours. It had gf bread which was $2.00 Extra. .the salad was fresh and tasty. The potatoes were perfect and tasty. I really like La Bosco. The cappuccino is made to my liking - quality beans and skilled barista. Served in real cups too! Tried the various croissants and danishes. Loved all of them but the apple danish is most memorable. The apple and custard with a hint of cinnamon just goes so well together. How La Bosco gives 30% discount to all first responders - fireman, police, ambulance - really impressed me. What a wonderful gesture to those that keep our families safe! I was looking for somewhere different for lunch and a friend suggested that we try Bosco Bakery and Café. It was not what I expected. Most places in the Old Strathcona area are small with very few tables. Bosco is huge! I mean it's really big. You won't have trouble finding a table and you're not going to be sitting right next to another table. That's nice. They seemed to have the sound under control too. Maybe it's how a building is finished off but some places are just incredibly loud. Bosco was just right. You can talk with your guests without yelling and they will be able to hear you. There is also a fairly large outside patio for when the weather is nice. The food is generally desserts and pastries but they do offer some healthy meals. I ordered the Korean sandwich (I forgot the actual name) which was $15.00. That's getting up there in price but it was a good sized sandwich with a side salad and it was very tasty. There were a few other choices for meal type foods, such as soup and other kinds of sandwiches, but not many. Now if you want pastries, cakes and all sorts of cool looking things that bakeries offer there are a lot of fine choices. That big glass counter is full of all sorts of amazing looking baked goods. Service was friendly but it was hard to understand the person at the counter. I think that it was because of the glass separting the person taking orders from customers. She made a mistake on my friend's order by forgetting his coffee. I found free parking easily. Bosco has their own parking area plus there is lots of street parking. I understand this a cafe however when serving meals maybe serve your people. High end pricing low end service does not equal a good tip. In my opinion it was high end pricing and low market dishes. We walked in had to order our meal at the counter and pick up all condiments, meals and coffee at the counter. I ordered a breakfast poutine and my husband ordered the La Bosco platter. We also ordered two coffees. This meal was $45.00 no tip. My poutine which is normally served on potatoes or hash browns was served on fries. The hollandaise sauce was barely on the eggs and the vegetables were raw. I tried to be optimistic and cut it up. The meal was super dry very plain. My husband said meal the bacon was crispy, the sausages were cold and the bread was as not buttered. We grabbed butter and it was ice cold which did not work because the toast was cold as well. The desserts looked delicious however after the overpriced meal we tried to eat we decided against it. Needless to say we will not return and we were extremely disappointed. read more

Very cute and aesthetically pleasing cafe, and very spacious as well. My friends and i came here for brunch to grab some pastries and drinks. I don't remember the exact name of the pastry I got but it was a savoury cheese sausage pastry and it was soo good! I also got an iced matcha latte and asked for it to be made a little sweeter since I didn't know how it is usually made and sometimes can be bitter. Been here 3x. The coffees are all delicious and served quickly. Iced or hot. I had the berry turkey sandwich that comes with sure salad. Super. The inside can get a bit noisy from the echo, but the outside patio is chill. If you are ordering food, you go up to order and then you are given a buzzer to signal when it's ready. The staff have always been nice and professional. It can get busy in there. The dessert case is beautiful. I have recommended this place to many who also enjoy it. Free parking on the side or on ave. I've been to La Bosco 3 times because I love the atmosphere. Although this cafe is by whyte ave the space is HUGE. They have indoor and outdoor seating. As well as parking on the side and to the back of the building. Such a rare find in this area of the city! I'm not a huge fan of their coffee but I do enjoy their matcha lattes. One item that I keep ordering is their ham and cheese croissant. It is HUGE and stuffed with a good amount of ham, cheese and cooked onions. It's a meal in itself. La Bosco is a Korean/French inspired Cafe and Bakery. The inside is very aesthetic for pictures and there is an outside patio available as well beside artsy murals. It has been the craze lately since it just opened a few weeks ago. It's currently really busy and I would suggest to go at a non-peak hour time to be able to snag a spot to sit. Keep in mind they maybe sold out of some Bakery items if you go at night. I've been there twice. Once around 6pm on a Wednesday and 10:30am on a Saturday. Parking is not abundant but I was able to find a spot because I came at a non-peak time. I've tried the following foods: -Corn Bean Soup: super delicious and comes with a puff pastry on top -Clam Chowder: taste exactly the same as corn bean soup except it has clams. Still super delicious but disappointed it tasted the same as the other soup -Orange Mango Waffle: very fruity and pretty for pictures. Was not wowed by it but it's not bad -Green Tea Apple Waffle: I liked this better than the mango orange Waffle and I quite enjoyed it. The matcha icecream wasn't very authentic -Cheese Souffle Cake: I tried this twice. The first time was super yummy. The second time it was a bit too sweet. La Bosco may have some consistency issues but hopefully it will improve overtime -Espresso Chiffon Cake: Not too sweet and has lots of cream. It was okay -Strawberry Danish: I really enjoyed this Danish. Crispy and refreshing Some of the food is a bit pricey. There are items I really enjoyed and some not so much . It's still a cute cafe to go to in Edmonton. I wouldn't mind coming back since I liked the atmosphere. read more

I took my son here for a mommy and son time. I was pleasantly surprised how big the cafe is! For a cafe, it's HUGE and aesthetically pleasing. Being that it's near Whyte Ave, there was plenty of parking which you don't get around this area. We went on a Sunday morning right when they opened. Maybe because they just opened up, they didn't have much variety. But we were still able to pick out something. My son had the kids hot chocolate and he said it's the best he's ever had! We shared the chicken and waffles, and surprisingly it was really tasty! It came with a side salad, which was a nice balance. The reason for the 4 stars, I wanted to order a sandwich to go for my husband but their kitchen was already closed or down for the day. I was surprised because we had ordered food earlier. A new favourite. I remember reading about it when it opened, but needed to catch up with my bestie after her vacation. OMG, this place is beautiful. Sort of Swedish-looking, with light woods, plants, high ceilings, and some of the most amazing pastries you will ever see. I got a London Fog and a cherry Danish, and both were delicious. Shawnna ordered a coffee and we sat and chatted. The seating is hard, formed concrete, which is very cool looking, but fear not, there are cushions to ease your back. There is a huge outdoor space too, so on beautiful days when we're not fighting smoke or mosquitoes, it's a lovely place to sit and catch up and enjoy the sun. I came back a few weeks later to write and had a slice of one of the amazing cakes. I don't even remember what it was, only that it was decadent and is only a "sometimes food." Or my waistline will suffer! Soon, I'll come back and order some breakfast. This place has blown me away. read more

Because of Covid they don't have dine in but they do have takeout! They are doing a 10% off promo during the lockdown on pastries and cakes. The cakes are super moist and all around $5. My favourite cake is the earl grey lavender cake. It's so moist, not too sweet and so fragrant! Before the lockdown I dined in the restaurant and tried the octopus chowder and it was sooo flaky and full of flavour! I got a couple nice chunks of octopus and vegetables! It opened up a few weeks ago so a few friends and I decided to check them out. Went in the early afternoon around 2:00 p.m. Parking is difficult to find right in front of the building itself so we had to drive back around,  park across the way near No Frills, and walk through the small alleyway to get to La Bosco. Might be harder to find more parking the later on the day as you go. Inside was very spacious, clean, and inviting. There were several sanitization stations with sanitizer pumps and wipes, all neatly displayed and in easy to access places. The seating were decently spaced apart for social distancing practices. My friends and I were given those light up devices that let you know when to go back to the front to pick up our orders, but they also call out your name just in case since the buttons don't make a sound. Staff was super friendly, welcoming, and quick to attend anyone waiting at the door. They're also very prompt in cleaning and sanitizing the tables once a group finishes. Sitting time is about 90 minutes, which is a generous amount of time per person/group. This is so that you can give other people a chance to sit at the tables inside. There was three of us that came, and since we ordered a few of the same dishes and drinks, I'll be reviewing those. Iced Vanilla Latte: decent. Ordered a medium and got a fair cup size. A bit weak in the flavour, especially since the ice takes up a nice chunk of the cup space, so once it starts melting the flavour gets watered down. Very Berry Turkey Sandwich: made from their La Bosco Classic Bread. Loved how generous the portion of turkey meat was in the sandwhich, and it comes with a side of Alberta Garden Mix salad. The berry compote in the sandwhich was unfortunately less sweet (a bit in the tart side) than what I was expecting. The bread was soft on the inside, but the more tougher outside made cutting into it with a knife and fork a bit more difficult. It's better to eat it with your hands; napkins and wipes easily available at the counter and the sanitization areas. The salad has your choice of either Truffle Balsamic or Lemon oil dressing. I chose the Truffle Balsamic for mine. Unfortunately, I could barely taste any of the dressing, which was disappointing, and the frisée in the salad, (while a fave salad green of mine) overpowered any dressing that was present. Couldn't finish the salad because of it. For dessert I ordered a slice of their Strawberry Shortcake and one Almond Croissant. The cake itself could use a bit more sweetness, as did the crème fraîche in the middle and the top of the cake. Because of this, the strawberries' tartness was more pronounced. Almond croissant was decently sweet. The frangipane in the inside is kind of underbaked though, and was runnier than other almond croissants. The frangipane baked on top was nice and crisp though. They have great potential, lovely decor, and the staff was wonderful, which is why I'm disappointed about the food. Since they're still fairly new, I'm willing to give them the benefit of a doubt and visit them again in a few more months to see if they implement any changes, and will update my review accordingly. read more

very nice place I like. When I walked in, I did not expect the place to be this huge, and massive especially for a cafe. It gives farmers market vibes but a boujee expensive fancy one. The best part of this cafe is the aesthetics, the food was comforting however interesting and alot of options. We got a baguette with bacon & butter, French onion soup, earl grey cake and log roll. The cakes were very nice and not every sweet, and the earl grey was noticeable in flavor. The baguette was interesting too, I liked how huge it was, and I notice it tasted both sweet and salty which is the interesting part. The French onion was also interesting since they used a takeout paper bowl to make the soup in but yea. Anyways, in conclusion come here when you need to discuss business matters with your rich entrepreneur friends. read more

Where the fuck should I really even start? I got complaints that I've got hiding in the dark. La Bosco has been a solid turd for me since it opened. Not only was it packed during the pandemic and basically ignored Covid, It has had the worst service and subpar food for a place that looks like a cafe for an expensive hotel. First experience here was a disaster. Line was out the door, however it was moving pretty fast. Once we had gotten to the counter I was fixated on a large pot pie sitting in a warmer. Although I was disappointed that it was sitting in a warmer, I had to have it. Potpie is fucking life. So we ordered that along with some pastries and a couple of drinks. I remember the eclair just falling flat on taste. While the drinks had some dimension to it but nothing incredible. I had the Iced Dutch and it just tasted like regular iced coffee. After finishing the desserts because we were starving...40 minutes had passed and still no potpie or sandwich. I went up and inquired where the cashier said the potpies were sold out and also they were still working on the sandwich. What gourmet fucking sandwich takes 40 minutes to make? So i'm visually upset now and the cashier who turns out to be an owner offers me a free potpie for next visit and a refund. However i'm still hungry and ask how long to order anything to replace my potpie. He said it's so busy that it will take 45 minutes for any food. I'm like fine, we'll just share the sandwich I had ordered 40 minutes ago. Another 30 minutes go by and no sandwich so I go up again and say...where the fuck is this sandwich. The guy's ears perk up and talks to someone real quick and says that it'll be out in 5 minutes.....LIke what the fuck. How was I not able to order food 30 mins ago yet he can rush a sandwich in 5 minutes. They screwed up so bad. Realizing their mistake they give us a garlic bread and the shittiest sandwich of all time. I promised myself I wouldn't go back, but I still had my free potpie voucher...and I love potipie. So I tricked my friend into taking her for her birthday just to use my voucher...and the potpie was also terrible. Super watery and bland. I would avoid La Bosco at all costs. Not just because of the food, or drinks, or service but also they straight up copied a successful cafe in Vancouver. Comparing pictures of La Foret and La Bosco are identical. The island of trees in the middle and similar use of the cement and wood fixtures. La Bosco in italian means the forest in Italian. La foret is the forest in French. No originality whatsoever. I was extremely disappointed by my visit here. I feel like the decor is nice and makes you expect a good experience, but mine was not that. I ordered a baked pastry covered soup and sandwich. My soup was ice cold when it arrived. I'm not sure what kind of oven they have but it clearly doesn't do the job. I went and explained the issue and they put it back in the oven, and once I received it again the soup was STILL not hot but the pastry was now burnt. How is that something that should be served? My grilled cheese sandwich came rock hard and not warm at all. I simply returned it. The coffee was also terrible? I'm so confused how a coffee shop can serve mediocre coffee. I would say it reminded me of Second Cup (which is not a compliment) but I was expecting more of a local, artisan coffee especially for the prices. The atmosphere is amazing, the restaurant itself is hands down the most beautiful place I've been to in edmonton, the food is amazing and so are the sweets! I could eat their cakes all alone, the workers and management are amazing as well the head manager is a good friend with my mom! Sadly he'll be leaving and I'm kinda worried that the quality of the place will go down and I started to feel it with the dessert, ive had it before and it was amazing! The panini cheese wasn't melted - it was still cold-ish, and the salad tasted like it was drenched in olive oil and nothing more. That cost around $20 with a tip. I enjoyed the scenery but did not enjoy being told they have a 90 minute limit after spending that much on an underwhelming dish. I've gone to places like remedy, spent that much and stayed there studying for 6 hours and not been told to leave. It's also not mentioned anywhere online or social media that they have a time limit and it's going to be enforced I'd suggest telling everyone not select tables. read more

Came with a sibling after seeing a tiktok about it and she was even more disappointed than me. Love this bakery near the Ave! This is one of my favourite places for a coffee and a treat near the Ave. The pastries are my go to treat - from almond croissants, grapefruit and sour cherry danishes. Also they have delicious slices of cakes and other pastries. I've also tried their veggie sandwich and salad for lunch, which is full of veggies and a decent sandwich for the Ave. It can be busy and it can be hard to hear your order at times - so it's best to wait around near the order area and make sure you grab your full order. The inside is gorgeous with tall ceilings and ample amount of seating. Also, in the summer there is a large outdoor patio with some green grass space as well. Definitely a must try in Old Strathcona! read more

I like the atmosphere of this place and the staff are friendly. But, it takes a long time to get your order ready. I went in the morning when there were only a few people inside. I ordered a breakfast waffle and coffee. Received my coffee first and then waited about 30 minutes for the waffle! By the time my coffee was almost cold the waffle finally arrived. It tasted good but was a bit cold and the cream on top was very watery like it had been sitting there for a while. But, in general I liked this place and I will visit again and give it another chance. Hopefully, I will have a better experience next time. I should add that I also got a variety of pastries from La Bosco and the pastries are ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Way better than so many other bakeries around Edmonton!
