This is a homey place that does not look like much from the front (the weeks' old piles of snow in the street wasn't their fault), but the food was excellent. I ordered carryout, including a pulled chicken Gordita, a pulled goat meat Gordita for the same amount, some chicken tacos (soft flour shell with white meat grilled, chopped chicken topped with very little), and the Tacos Dorados (fried tacos stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with green salsa and cheese). Pictures are from when I got home with my food. Needless to say, for $32 or so (which includes a 20% tip), I had enough food for 3 meals. The Gorditas, while not necessarily healthy, definitely fill you up. The Tacos Dorados were very good for a late night, post drinking (water, of course!), dinner, and the chicken tacos were excellent for a next-day lunch. Accompanying my food were two different sauces -- a red sauce that did not have much flavor, but was scorching hot on the palette and a green sauce that was very tasty and moderate in heat. I ordered takeout through the DoorDash app and once I stepped inside I felt like I was in someone's home ! It felt very cozy , the walls are painted blue and has white square tiles on the floor, plus the beauty of the Mexican flag hung up on the walls for all to see. The employee was kind, and pickup was quick. I ordered two sopes of grilled chicken topped with a small slice of avocado & tomato, shredded lettuce & cheese (I asked for no sour cream) and they sure packed it up on that crispy thick tortilla! It was very filling and delicious & it comes with two spicy sauces (1 Green 1 Orange) on the side. The original rating was more to reflect the location - which is not that convenient - but the food and service quality and consistency has proven to make up for it. Also, the hot sauce is the best in the county! **Original - We stopped in because my daughter saw this place on Instagram and had to try it. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, the options were plentiful, and the food was fresh. We particularly enjoyed the chicken Gordita, which is amazing, and the steak tacos. The price is fair so you can try a lot of things. If you're adventurous they have a variety of meat choices as well, which aren't common in area Mexican restaurants but are likely a great find for people looking for authentic flavor. They also offer a nice set of drink options in a cooler near the register. The restaurant is in an industrial strip that appears built for things like auto repair. So, parking is behind and to the side. You'd not likely notice it if you weren't looking, but we didn't have trouble finding it. We got takeout and it was still good when we got home. The place is away from busy areas... I only found this because it was open late enough and seems decent based on the menu. Then it was near the climbing gym that day. Anyways, parking can be tricky. Inside the place was decent and clean. Filled with variety of people who enjoy some kind of authentic Mexican food. The service was so quick even though it can get a bit of busy. Sopes with lengua (Fried handmade corn tortilla served with lengua, beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, sour cream and cheese ) - really good, crispy corn tortilla! Then taste of soft and melting-in-your-mouth lengua as it was so tender. Very filling if you wanted a small bite! Enchiladas (Three rolled up tortillas with chicken, topped with green sauce. Served with salad, tomato, onions, sour cream and cheese) - really good and satisfying! Mild flavor sauce if you wonder if it's spicy... As a Mexican living in the DMV area, finding authentic Mexican food is always challenging. This family-owned restaurant in Rockville/Derwood is good! We ordered the flautas, enchiladas, and tacos. The flautas were crispy and packed with flavor. If I am not mistaken, the tortillas for the tacos are hand-made. We also ordered two quesadillas for the kids--one would have been enough because the portions are generous! The kids loved them, and we all appreciated how fresh everything tasted. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. Costa Grande is a must-visit if you're craving authentic Mexican food in the area. We'll definitely be back! The best tacos I've ever had, and that's after living in Arizona and San Diego. The carne asada is perfectly made, they use homemade corn tortillas, the sauces are AMAZING. I read an article on this place about thier grand opening and I must admit this place did not meet my expectations in the end. I looked at thier menu ahead of time and saw they had menudo on Saturday and Sunday so my family and I headed over for dinner. Their menu was limited and the first thing they said "since they just opened some menu items they did not have." I asked about Menudo and they said "tommorow." Disappointed, but I moved on to try something else. I was going to get the enchiladas for my kids and then they said they didn't have that from the menu either. That's two items missing from thier limited menu. My kids ended up having the quesadilla fritas and they seemed to enjoy it. My kids liked the rice so we got a 2nd side serving. My wife had the capechana and she was not enjoying it. My mother-in-law tried several tacos with different meats and she enjoyed it. Myself, I had the cardne asada plate that I asked for medium rare but it was more on the rare side. I ate it cause I was hungry. The side rice was good. The refried beans tasted like it had been out for a while not fresh. They had thier own orange hot sauce which was pretty good and on the slightly spicy side. I like spicy. Overall, mixed reviews. If it's a grand opening then you should have everything on you already limited menu and not use that as an excuse for not having it. The service was good and mostly attentive. I wish they had the menudo as that was the sole reason I wanted to try this place. I'm Mexican who grew up in LA so I love menudo and grew up eating Mexican daily. Some stuff was okay and other things could use some work. Maybe I'll give this place another try in the future when they are more situated. read more

I like to support immigrant businesses, how ever some take advantage of that. I paid $18-something for a Burrito w/ guac. And the size of the burrito was small. The burrito was not terrible, but dear God the price is astronomical. I didn't go back because of the price, so I haven't tried other items on the menu, so by all means go and support the business but be ready to take out a small student loan. read more
