    King's afternoon tea
    Eileen F.

Came on a Tuesday for afternoon tea, and ordered their King's menu. It's not traditional British afternoon tea in both atmosphere and and sandwich options, but is instead its own hybrid breed. The flavors were more French but with a classic British twist. I enjoyed eating all the sandwiches, tartlettes and mini desserts. My favorite was the scones - well baked, flavors were balanced, and served with delicious jam and cream. The shop itself is actually predominantly a coffee shop, and offers afternoon tea as one of its many options. As a result, service isn't exactly like a normal sit-down tea place. There were only three staff members taking care of all the orders on a fairly busy day, so I did feel neglected at times. Many things were self-served, which I did not expect but ultimately accepted. I would return for a casual coffee run to try their other offerings, but also enjoyed their afternoon tea option once I understood what vibes they were going for.

Super cute and cozy place with plants and nice lighting! The staff were very friendly and moved our reservation time to earlier. They explained we can choose one large pot of the same tea, our individual different teas for the two of us. My partner and I got the Long live the King shared between two, each $30 CAD. It was immaculate, every thing was delicious. Also, when they come out with the food set, they play a bell sound and everyone claps ahaha that was very cute! We got the Fortmason, and it was so rich and earthly like not bitter but very strong tea flavor. We loved it and finished it all! The staff said it was his favorite tea and I'm like perfect, I'm excited! Truly so aromatic and paired so well with the food. Now the food, wow. No words just every thing did not miss. First, I love the scones so much! It came with three scones. One scallion one, tasted like the Chinese green onion pancake. It was so flakey and crispy, I devoured it. The best one was the lavender one with white chocolate chips(?), it's a bit savory with a hint of sweetness at the end. Immaculate, the texture was so crispy and not crumbly, but like actual soft bread scone! The cranberry one was amazing as well, with their jam, wow. The egg sandwiches were so flavorful, i thought it was mustard but was actually beet marinated eggs. Everything did not lack any flavor or needed anything additional. All the herbs and flavor came through! The pork sausage roll wow, the pork was seasoned well, the pudding pastry was light and crispy. The sauce/ jam was just a bit sweet paired beautifully. Now the quiche, the feta paired so nicely with the juicy candied tomato. Amazing! We were getting so full by then, and we haven't even gotten to the desserts. Wow, the lemon earl grey cheesecake was a hit, light cheesy with the lemon custard with the puff/ croissant type crust wow. The flavor was doing its thing. The walnut toffee caramel was also so nutty and the walnut comes through so well. 10/10 the best afternoon tea I've had. Everything , the texture flavor and portion was immaculate! 10/10 recommend :)

I cannot beam enough about this afternoon tea. Each nibble was a delight. Fortum and Mason teas are always lovely. If you order a Royal tea, there is a special little surprise. It is the BEST. A quick note: they are a small, tight operation. Make a reservation.

I like that their teas can be ordered by the cup or in a teapot. I ordered the Tête dans les nuages, a lavender-scented herbal tea. Their vegan baked goods are provided by Cafe Bandit. The Pumpkin & Cardamom muffin is my favourite. As they serve afternoon tea, I wish there could be some vegan options.

You can see a lack of lemon tart in the back plate.

I love that La Brume dans mes Lunettes does delivery for their afternoon tea sets! It comes with 1 little satchet of tea leaves of your choice (just add hot water to steep it when it arrives), and a variety of sweet and savoury items. The scones were very yummy and hit the spot! The weird thing is that on Uber, when you get this set, there is a required "add on" of either a jam or cream and it costs $1. But the set itself already comes with one? So factor in an extra dollar for that required add on. Oh and I ordered this with my boyfriend and one of our sets was missing an item in the box. One of us got a lemon tart and the other didn't. Food was still yummy tho!

Cute, afternoon tea place serving different versions! We tried the Queen for a bachelorette party, had fun and staff was very nice and allowed us to stay after the 2h timeslot reservation! Tried 4 types of teas, salty sandwich bites, scones and sweets!

This place has a feeling to it. There's something soothing about seeing fresh baked goods in a cafe with window seats filled with busy people. I really enjoyed the scones... fresh and made on the spot, couldnt ask for more The coffee is great too. I had a cappucino and was pretty surprised how massive the cups were.. even the small ones. Found an old ornate looking arm chair and got to some writing. There was a certain air of lightness here. I'm not sure what exactly it was. A huge family looking table is in the direct center of the space, with some singular seating on the perimeter and next to the huge entrance windows. It was a great place to work, and I feel in time meet people if your that kind of person who meets people that is...... lol. Would love to come back! Hope you have success team +(^~^)+

Lovely cafe! We had a reservation for brunch and had a wonderful time! They have a nice variety of different teas and lunch/brunch/snacks options. Needless to say you HAVE to try the scones (all home made, moist and so many different flavors..). The salmon bagels, cucumber cheese sandwich, scones were a delight! Strongly recommend! Lots of folks coming to work, read and relax. Very sweet blend of good food and cozy space!

The counter with the high tea menu that caught our attention

Went there on a Tuesday at 09am. Luckily we found available seating as we noted the place tends to fill up quickly. Cozy place to study, to meet a Friend for chitchat. People also came in and out for a order of coffee to go. We stayed from 09-1130, never felt pressured to leave. We went in thinking of ordering their regular menu but noted the sign indicating there is a high tea menu available. It was perfect for 2 people to share and it came with a full pot of tea, price of 30$ taxe included! The funniest thing happened when our order arrived..... along with a loud voice via the speaker announcing its high tea time. Everybody looked at our table and clapped, which is a really funny concept. Really easy to find free parking on the street. Would definitely recommend the place and would return.

Brightly lit by natural lighting, impressive tall ceilings, and a beautifully designed space, when you step in, you will find a remarkable english tea room with the allure of modern coffee shop that will certainly charm you! The eclectic mix of glazed plywood counters, industrial tables, architects folding lights, wooden & steel draft stools, antique piano, buttoned chairs and tungsten lighting somehow all work well together. In addition to the esthetically pleasing surroundings, a lot of attention was paid to functionality including the availabilities of many conveniently located power outlets where you can plug and charge your laptop or mobile devices. The only odd thing about this place are the paintings - slightly disconnected. I did stop by for a quick brew, made from Kittel coffee beans, which was okay but was served in unique looking jade like mugs. I also couldn't help noticing the homemade sweet and savory creations that came out of this tiny but well equipped kitchen (induction cooktops, mini convection oven, euro size dishwasher...). Everything is made on the spot except for the bread and croissants that come from Guillaume, a fabulous local bakery. This place is barely two months old and will continue to evolve. I'll definitely have to return to indulge in some of the cooking and the unavoidable and time-honored ritual of afternoon tea, complete with silver teapot, fine china, crustless cucumber sandwiches, and Yorkshire pudding -- all at an affordable price of 27$ for two -- amazing! One question remains though: why is this place named "La Brume dans Mes Lunettes" - is it because the fog that builds up on eyeglasses when drinking a cup of coffee, is it because of the windows that steam up on chilly fall and winter days, or is it remnants memories of tormented past love stories that still linger?

All your exes and their exes are probably here because there was something beautiful about them that you loved and this place is perfect for soothing beautiful hearts that are lost or looking for love, and it's perfect for first dates or work dates or healing hangs of other kinds as well. Everything except the art is quite perfect. Beautiful furniture, layout and light. Beautiful teas made for the Royal Family, and full tea service with scones if you like. Lemon poppyseed cake like my mom bakes. Hot lunch on the menu, plugs everywhere and free wifi. I didn't have the coffee because I'm happier wrapped around a mug of filter coffee usually, and my heart dropped a bit when I didn't see it on the menu but I asked anyway and the barista said they usually would, then half smiled and said "Americano won't cut it?" and I sighed and admitted that no, vraiement pas, and he agreed with my secret heart's opinion that this watery espresso is actually disgusting. Great validation. Calm, beautiful, kindly spot with charming, soft-spoken, unpretentious staff who still make you feel you are in the best of hands. Already full fairly constantly from what I've seen, and with good reason.

Hot chocolate and apple cheddar scone.

From my understanding this is a newish coffee shop in the area. The space is small but it is very cozy and welcoming. On the day I came it provided a welcome escape from the cold and rainy weather outside. Since I try to avoid caffeine later in the day I went for a cheddar apple scone and hot chocolate. The apple cheddar scone was not so great. It was a little tough and you could barely taste the cheddar. I actually tasted the walnuts more than the cheese. The hot chocolate though was on par with other cafes. Next time I visit I will probably test out the coffee. The barista also went around the cafe at one point and offered all the customers free apples which was a different and nice touch.

T'was a somewhat rainy afternoon and the boo and I felt like it was a good time to venture out of the apartment and attempt to get some work done. Looked through my trusty list of "cafes to check out" and had La Brume marked down. A bonus was that it was somewhat near Marche Jean Talon so we could also drop by there on the way. After picking up a few apples at the market, we continued to La Brume. It seems close enough to the Metro but far enough from crazy foot traffic, allowing a better chance for an open table, which we easily found. The atmosphere is chill and bright, the artwork and decor are strategically placed, not too overwhelming but just sprinkled enough throughout to add plenty of visual interest. The music is lively but not too loud, and the staff are friendly. The place had a bit of a romantic feel to it as well (at least the couple making out across the room seemed to think so). We got a couple Cafe Americanos and shared a cheese scone, all of which were quite tasty. The scone was savory but not too dense, which I liked. The coffee was good enough to drink black. The internet was solid, there was a cute little restroom, and we got our work done without a hitch. If I was a local, I'd come here all the time. But next time I'm in the area and need a spot to chill and get some work done, I'll definitely come back!

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. The server seated us without warning, and when we went to order, each item we requested had run out. No Cuban, no chicken melt, no several other delicious sounding things. She gave us 10 more minutes to look over the menu and come up with a plan B. Truthfully I wanted to jump ship, but couldn't because our drink orders were already in, and I was captain of this gastronomic journey. We'd set sail without proper forecasting! We settled on the baked egg and salmon bowl, neither what we were exactly craving. The baked egg was fairly tasty, a shakshouka-esque experience accompanied by rustic bread for hasty dipping. The salmon bowl was excellent, with delicious dressing, but the salmon portion was oh-so-meager. It made me wonder if the lunch rush had given the kitchen such a beating that they had split my salmon filet in half and served it to me and my neighboring table friend. Check out my photo and tell me if that portion seems right? The lore says Michael Jordan worked his rear off every game because he always told himself there was probably at least one kid in the stands who came there to see THE Michael Jordan. Well this kid in the stands caught Olive et Gourmando taking the night off. There is a risk for peril if you choose this restaurant, especially if you are in Montréal for a limited time!

The ambiance is so lovely and it truly is the best place for delicious brunch items and taking cute pictures too! My friends and I visited on a Saturday morning without reservations, but we went relatively earlier. We were seated right away for a table of 4 and were served teas and coffee. I ordered the Bone Marrow & Duck Confit which consisted of a country-style bread, duck poached egg, bone marrow, confict duck leg, manchego shavings, herb salted crumble and green peas. It's a massive dish and honestly everything tasted amazing all together. The bone marrow was perfectly cooked and the duck poached egg meld everything together. They also give you another bowl so you can put the marrow once you're done eating it. The bread was needed to soak up every part of this delicious dish. Other items ordered was the Foie Gras (Chef's specialty) which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, caramelized onion compote and crispy proscuitto chips.
