Been coming here since 2015, been here over a dozen times and one of our favorites here in Astoria! This was one of the WORST meals we have had anywhere. Started off with guacamole/chips, a beer and a regular blended margarita NO SALT...Came with salt. Then we ordered the Tuesday special, which John told us was 3 carne asada (one crispy, one regular)tacos for $10 with rice and beans.. He never returned to the table, to the question him!!! So when we left and paid our bill the young lady said it was $60. Husband stuck his card in and I questioned her. I said we ordered the Taco special for $10 and she said they didn't have any $10 specials. I said John told us $10 for 3 and he went and checked. He said yes, $10 for 3. My husband order crispy and mine regular, both came crispy! I took mine home.... I explained to the lady that they needed talk to him about the prices. She then told there were no $10 specials that they were now $13. She said the order said 2 carne asada platters......we ordered tacos!!!! As I said previously John never returned to our table after the ordered was placed. She then told me that John was on break, when I saw him in the kitchen and basically said too bad... So I don't see HOW are bill got to $60????? Please tell me how the bill got to $60??? I am so disappointed with the meal, the service and the way they treated us. La Cabana D Raya, we will never return or tell others about how much we enjoyed your service and food....

Decided to try this cute place we passed by while in Astoria. Service was great and the food was delicious. Will come back next time we're in town

Went on a recommendation from some local folk- and they were spot on. This is a pretty traditional cantina with really strong margaritas, great chips & pico de gallo, and excellent food. Could do without televisions showing news but otherwise pretty nice atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and quick. Solid B+ all round.

Not much I can add here that other reviews haven't. I tried making my own birria a few times; mine is good, but theirs is LOTS better. Birria tacos for the win! I LOVE the 3 shrimp tacos - soft, home made corn tortillas, fresh veggies and lots of shrimp. Gimme that habanero sauce! mmmm. I dont drink but my wife ordered a margarita, and let the server talk her into a double. She said it was incredibly strong. Been here several times now, inside, outside on the large patio with wind blocking plexiglass (thank you!). Beautiful views of Youngs River and the bridges. Fabulous fun mexican decorations, great service, the BEST homemade mexican food you'll find on the coast, this is now a regular outing for us as its 5 minutes from our house. Steady stream of take out lets you know how popular this place is.

Excellent little hole in the wall. The best guacamole in the area, hands down. The service is always friendly, the food is authentically superb, and the view is lovely. My photos are not the best cause I kept forgetting to take them cause I was so excited to eat! I got three tacos, one shrimp (excellent!), one chicken (delish!), and one birria, altho it wasn't fried, and I thought birria tacos are fried (it was still sublime). My husband got two steak empanadas that came with beans, rice and salad. All of it was soooooo good. Don't miss out on this little gem of a place. If I had more than two thumbs, they'd all be pointing up.

This place is alright -- prices were very reasonable and the dishes were fine (I ordered the chilaquiles). It felt like an average run of the mill Mexican restaurant, however I'm docking a star for the service. After the waiter gave us our food, we were essentially ignored ... didn't even get the bill. We had empty glasses for throughout lunch and had to waive the waiter over to get refills. You do get a nice waterfront view and this place is on the quieter side of Astoria so it's a good place to with the family if you want to get away from the busier parts of the area and still want a view of the ocean. Aside from that the dishes were good! No complaints, but woulda been great if they provided free chips and salsa to start.

Hotel recommended This authentic Mexican restaurant and I'm so glad we were able to get a reservation. When we pulled in front I thought I saw eagles flying overhead so we opted to sit outside facing the ocean, but it was too breezy we came inside. I'm glad we reserved a table, people were waiting. There were many families here with small children, it was noisy. They had margaritas and beer. I ordered the Pacifica and my husband a frozen mango margarita. I ordered the mole dinner special & my husband ordered the beef asada. We got an order of guacamole with homemade tortilla chips that were exceptional. Dinner came out quickly, portions were generous and everything was very good. This is a family run business and they did not stop running call my day working very hard and it shows dinner was

This place is the real deal. I visited for the first time this week travelling with a friend and it was so good we ate lunch here two days in a row and ordered to-go meals to take home. It's that good! First, they have an incredibly delicious peanut and red chili based mole that's to die for. I had it over a wet carnitas burrito one day, and the chicken mole the next. Second, the carnitas is legit. So flavorful and fatty enough not to be dry as at some places. They make their tortillas and their sopas from scratch, from scratch-made ground masa. The sopas and tacos are fantastic. Even the margaritas are made with what appears to be a pulpy, scratch made margarita mix. Servings are generous and prices are reasonable. It's right on the river and you can sit at a table on the lawn in the back overlooking Astoria. These folks are just getting back on their feet after covid closure, so give them your support. You won't be disappointed. It's a simple, family-owned place and the owner is a super nice guy.

The ambiance is great, we sat on the patio with a view of the water at sunset. Service was very friendly and fast. I had a watermelon margarita and chicken tamales. The tamales were authentic and fresh and the margarita was tasty and strong. We will be back for sure soon!

Checked out this taco truck on Marine Drive for the first time Saturday. A store owner nearby…read moresuggested it, since street tacos were $1 from 12-2 PM. Amazing! Yeah, they're street tacos on small tortillas, but come on - they're $1 each! And they actually have a little sitting area inside the building next door... with a TV?!? Awesome. Might make this a regular stop on Saturday afternoons. They also have a salsa bar with all kinds of items to augment your street tacos - diced onions, cilantro, and at least 4 kinds of salsa.

Took one look at the menu, and thought to ourselves, let's go here instead! We paid Chalitos tacos a visit on a Wednesday around 7PM. The taco truck itself is located on a dirt lot with indoor and outdoor seating right outside and next to the truck. There seems to be a couple of parking spaces nearby that I have seen diners walk to and from as well. You place your order at the register, and you wait till they call your name - ours took about 7-10 minutes to get out. We got several tacos ($3 each) just to try the meat options that this restaurant has to offer - Asada, Lengua, Fish, Al Pastor were the options we tried. They were all absolutely delicious! The asada and al pastor were seasoned well and had a pleasant meaty texture, and my personal favorite, the lengua was the perfect texture - soft, hearty, and basically melts as you chew it. Their quesadilla is a solid price too at $10 and you can pick any meat you want to go in it for the same price! At other similar Mexican restaurants, a lengua quesadilla can be up to $12. The quesadilla was portioned generously and came out piping hot with the cheese being stringy and absolutely indulgent with every bite! I also love that they include guacamole with the quesadilla as it usually is a premium at other establishments. Chalitos tacos is definitely an underrated gem in Astoria, as there aren't too many reviews just quite yet - I think compared to what you can get in Astoria, from a quick scope of the area's culinary offerings, the price with quality and quantity you can get from this taco truck seems to be unparalleled. If I am ever in Astoria again, I would definitely come back to try their other options, there are several on my mind like the burrito, pupusas, salchipapas, etc.
