Came here with a work group. Carne asada was overcooked and didn't have much citrus but the salt content was there. It wasn't overwhelming. Diablo shrimp was decent. Overall very meh food. I am pretty sure I've never been to this location. I am a relatively frequent visitor of the Long Beach, WA and Castle Rock, WA locations. This location will be compared, unfortunately. Let's start with the cons, because unfortunately there are some. The service was not bad, but very laidback in a bad way. Every employee seemed to be on break for our entire visit. There weren't any other customers I could see, so they should've been a bit more attentive. Their food is not bad, but it isn't quite to the standards set by the other two locations. I can't really break it down much more from there. Although I will say, I don't think this location is making their own salsa, like the other two locations. (I'll stop myself there.) *Special Review * Today a friend and I had lunch at El Compadre in Warrington OR. While the food is always excellent I had another reason to give a shout out to the wonderful staff. My friend has many medical issues and she got dizzy, lost her balance and fell in the bathroom. She was behind a locked door. I asked a staff member for help and he got the manager (owner?). They quickly got the door open and helped me lift my friend up. She had a slight cut on her arm and they provided bandages and comfort. She was deeply embarrassed but they treated her with such care and concern that she wanted them to know how truly grateful she was. My wife and I went to dinner and there was only a couple and a daughter in the dining area. The waitress, a Hispanic lady with bleached hair dropped off our menus. The bus person brought our waters and silverware. We waited on the waitress to order for some time. When she came we ordered and the other couple left. After getting our food from the bus person, that was the last we saw of the waitress. Finishing our meal and waiting for a period of time, my wife went to wait in the car. We stop for dinner tonight because we wanted to try a somewhere we hadn't been. Unfortunately after my last several visits to the Warrenton El Compadre I need to update my review. Lately the service has been very slow and very poor. Most recently my family ordered a large batch of salsa to go and it was frankly disgusting. The salsa was given in a used Sweet and Sour container and tastes like the container wasn't even slightly cleaned out. It's unfortunate but after years and years of coming I'm not coming back. read more

Had early dinner last night. I live in Seaside but had never been here before. It's really nice inside. Everyone was friendly and service was quick and excellent! The food is inconsistent. I had nachos and my husband had camarones a la diabla and both were excellent. 2nd time same order. The camarones were different this time but still good and my nachos were a plate of soggy chips weighted by massive cheese and the ground beef didn't have that laurel flavor I was in love with the time before... I could hardly eat it. 3rd time, camarones were different again...still good but different. Maybe it depends on who's cooking??? For the last 15 years, every time our family visits Astoria we make sure to eat here. The customer service is always warm, friendly, and attentive. The food (while not very authentic) is delicious. We recommend the steak frajitas and any enchilada. There is a menu item for the smallest eaters to those that want their plate covered with food. The free chips are warm and lite. I wish I could take a gallon of salsa home with me. I appreciate that this restaurant follows covid-19 protocols. read more

Chips and salsa are free, but the chips tasted a tad stale and the salsa saucy (i.e. not chunky) and served in small bowls that made it difficult for dipping. My chicken fajitas were served on a sizzling hot plate and heavy on overcooked veggies (but yay for mushrooms!). Refried beans were okay, rice on the greasy side and the flour tortillas reminded me out of cheap generic ones from the grocery store. Price wise, dinners were a few dollars more than I'm used to paying at Mexican restaurants. I sat at a booth a few away from the entrance and was cold most of the night. We went to the resultant after 3 hour drive from Seattle. This was an amazing experience. The interior has vibrant colors and the food was just right for our weary bodies .
