The guy working the front at 4pm on Monday March 2nd was an absolute jerk. Made a terrible margarita and refused to remake it or offer a refund. He then tried to humiliate us and turned to everyone and yelled to the bar taking a poll on who liked their margaritas. Then two guys at the bar starting talking trash after the guy working (claimed to be the manager) provoked it. Really wild experience. We weren't rude or anything he just started being a jerk right off the bat. Major attitude problem. Really a simple ask to fix a drink that isn't good. Have never had an experience like that. This place is located one floor below the Vail transportation center. There's free chips and salsa! Love that and there's a little salsa bar for you to get your own. Carne asada tacos: street tacos come in two. You can order flour or corn tortilla, I ordered flour. The steak was chewy and needed to be sliced thinner. Fried cod taco: Flavors were just ok. Fish was fried and tasted fine. Macho burrito: is huge! Got the carne asada one. Again, steak is chewy and needs to be sliced thinner. Service was friendly and quick. I was surprised how many Mexican restaurants there are in Vail. This one is as good as any of them. The thing about this place is that it is small, you order at the counter, and they bring your food to you. Not a problem. They do have a number of good, vegetarian options, but vegans will not find much. They also are very open about which items and sauces are vegan or vegetarian. Because this place is small, and not very fancy, the prices are about 1/3 cheaper than other, similar places anywhere in the city. I had a bean burrito that cost $9.00, but it was big, came with my choice of a variety salsas, and the chips and salsa come at no charge. It was very satisfying. It also seemed very popular, and even though it wasn't busy in the city, this place was rocking. I recommend this place when you are in Vail Village, and want a good, quick meal. I love this place! It was a bit hard to find initially. Google Maps kept directing me toward the transportation center, which was confusing, until I just decided to go in and voila! There it was, on the lower level. I'm really glad I kept looking and found this place. It was busy but not jam-packed, and they have lots of tables. The vast majority of the menu is under $10. If you've spent any time at all in Vail, aka the Land of the $30 Entree, then you know how rare that is. And not only do they have great prices, but the service and food are excellent. The cashier/server was super nice and efficient. I loved the complimentary chips and salsa that come with each meal. They had about five different kinds of salsa on the salsa bar. For my entree, I had the macho burrito, which consisted of beans, rice, and carne asada, smothered in red sauce, and served with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. I had eaten an extremely light breakfast that day and had spent about 2.5 hours walking around Vail, so I ate it right up. I will DEFINITELY come back here next time I'm in Vail and would recommend it to anyone who wants an inexpensive, delicious meal. read more

We stopped at La Cantina for a drink during Vail's Farmers Market. Pretty authentic Mexican bar restaurant where the customers sitting next to us were Mexican inviting the bartender to several shots of tequila. We had a couple of their beers on tap with shrimp quesadillas, and chips with a salsa bar were complimentary. Although the sitting is indoors, it is very airy with open doors and no windows separating the indoor space from the corridors leading to a Vail museum and the restrooms. Usually love this spot. Haven't been since COVID. Got there around 7pm and let's just say the place was filthy. Every table was not wiped (and I mean you could see left over beans and rice on tables. Very noticeable) and most had no napkins or silverware in the table buckets. I'm assuming they just finished a dinner rush but when we got there both bartenders were chillin behind bar. La Cantina has - by far - the best valued menu in all of Vail. Since moving here it's been hard to find quality food (or any food at all for that matter) at a reasonable price. Then I found La Cantina. The food is authentic, the portions large and the prices very low. I tried their shredded chicken burrito on my first visit and mostly enjoyed it. The chicken was pretty watery, but other than that it was well worth the amount of money I paid for it. Located in the Vail Village transportation center, I thought the open atmosphere offered a nice setting for some quick, cheap food after a day of snowboarding. This is a cool little spot hidden inside the bus station. If you're not familiar with the place, both Google and Apple maps will struggle to get you there. The best way to describe direction is on the middle floor of the Vail Transportation Center. Apple map to the Colorado Snowsports Museum may help get you there as well. The food, pricing, and salsa bar were all good. It was just one guy working the register and another guy in the back, but the line moved quick and they were able to get our food out faster than we thought. Staff super pleasant. Seating is casual. No reservations. Probably ample seating for 40 or so among various tables plus some spots at the bar. They have everything: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, queso, etc. anything you'd want they probably have. Staff super helpful and positive. We got there at 640 or so and not a moment too soon. It got packed fast. Seems like a real locals place. I got a fried cod taco and a shrimp taco. Both very good. The queso was pretty strong. Not Texas strong but really good. Mrs got a Mahi burrito. Really like it and was fortunate enough to eat 1/3 of it. Son got a cheese quesadilla. Average. Other son got 2 fried beef tacos. He loved them. Overall I'd definitely go back. Fast service. Hi, I'm a disabled person. I was released from the hospital in Vail and dropped off at that Transit Center where this restaurant is. Before the hospital vehicle even stopped, the driver and I were harassed by the employees of this restaurant. A woman came out and started screaming at my the driver and myself pointing her finger in a violent manner which triggered my PTSD and claiming that she's paid to do this quote un quote.The bartender came after they harassed both me and said I needed to have my straitjacket tightened. I'm clearly disabled and I have ptsd. I have filed a complaint with the veil police and the Eagle County Transit service so that others who visit Vail don't have to have the experience I had. If you or a family member is disabled, steer clear of the Vail  Transportation Center and this restaurant "La Cantina" and it's hostile aggressive employees that claim and think they're being paid to harass disabled people. The bartender also gave me doubles middle fingers on camera and yelled at me as I was leaving. This occurred on August 2nd, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m. If anyone is interested in disciplining these out-of-control employees who seemed to think they run Vail Transportation Center. The transportation center itself does not have the proper signage to indicate that Vehicles may not pull in in any certain area although they tried to claim that vehicles are not allowed to pull up to that area and or no no only buses are allowed, however vehicles pull in there all day. There is no clear signage in this area, in the show called employee claims she is quote unquote paid to do this. I'd be willing to pay for a $5 sign, if it'll save Vail the money she gets. read more

Located in the Vail Transit Center on top of Vail Village parking, this literal hole in the wall restaurant will get you everything you need for apres ski before you head to your car, bus, hot tub or bed. It's not super pricey and really casual so kids are welcome. It's a quick serve restaurant so you'll have to walk up and order. If there's a line, don't wait to go get some water from the spigot next to the cash register. You can also try your luck ordering drinks from the bar. If you get chips with your food and run out, just ask the person running the cash register for more. They're happy to help.
