Definitely would not come back to this overpriced wanna be Chipotle. The food was drenched in chili powder. Chips were chips, queso can you say Velveeta with pico. The Asada was under seasoned and over cooked, the rice tasted like Uncle Ben's Spanish rice box with extra chili powder for the color. Staff was not very helpful and any customization to your order will not be granted or it will be left off on accident. Not good. I ordered the macho burrito and my husband ordered the california burrito. We both agreed the burritos had the most gristly meat of any burrito we'd ever eaten. Flavor was less than par. Free chips were barely mediocre. Service was nothing special at all. You order at the register and are required to tip when ordering...a pet peeve of mine. Margaritas tasted pretty good but had very low alcohol content. Atmosphere was very casual and basically outside the vail locker room. Chipotle is better. Heck, Taco Bell is better. This place was amazing!! First though, do not be turned off by its location. It's sorta wedged in between floors of the parking garage and the Vail Information Center. It almost feels like it's in a subway station. There's a couple of stairways coming and going and there's a lot of foot traffic with people not dining at La Cantina. But don't worry about any of that. I had bites of my son's beef taco, my wife's spicy burrito and all of my fish tacos and it was all awesome. There were five salsas available of varying heat and they were all great. And as you would expect, they can mix up a good margarita. If you're strolling the Ford Park or the east end of Vail Village and looking for some fantastic, not to mention affordable, Mexican food, La Cantina is the place. read more

We ate here twice on our week-long trip. Great central (though a little hidden) spot to grab a cheapish lunch in a town that's notoriously known for being expensive when it comes to food. Salsa bar was a winner as well! Tried several items including burritos, tacos, enchiladas and chilaquiles. All were very tasty and as for the 'service' it's just order at the counter - they'll bring your food out and clean up after you - don't really know how that could be substandard. Also hilarious that this is a 'dive' by Vail standards. I'm suprised by the negative reviews here and glad that we ended up here on the recommendation of some locals because based on the Yelpers only I would have skipped it. read more

Hi, I'm a disabled person. I was released from the hospital in Vail and dropped off at that Transit Center where this restaurant is. Before the hospital vehicle even stopped, the driver and I were harassed by the employees of this restaurant. A woman came out and started screaming at my the driver and myself pointing her finger in a violent manner which triggered my PTSD and claiming that she's paid to do this quote un quote.The bartender came after they harassed both me and said I needed to have my straitjacket tightened. I'm clearly disabled and I have ptsd. I have filed a complaint with the veil police and the Eagle County Transit service so that others who visit Vail don't have to have the experience I had. If you or a family member is disabled, steer clear of the Vail  Transportation Center and this restaurant "La Cantina" and it's hostile aggressive employees that claim and think they're being paid to harass disabled people. The bartender also gave me doubles middle fingers on camera and yelled at me as I was leaving. This occurred on August 2nd, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m. If anyone is interested in disciplining these out-of-control employees who seemed to think they run Vail Transportation Center. The transportation center itself does not have the proper signage to indicate that Vehicles may not pull in in any certain area although they tried to claim that vehicles are not allowed to pull up to that area and or no no only buses are allowed, however vehicles pull in there all day. There is no clear signage in this area, in the show called employee claims she is quote unquote paid to do this. I'd be willing to pay for a $5 sign, if it'll save Vail the money she gets. read more

Watch out for the crooks here. I ordered a wrap and of 4 items in the wrap (abt 8$), they were out of 3. Well that happens, and the cashier helpfully offered to substitute beans instead which made the wrap into a bean and cheese burrito (about 6$). The cashier swipes my card, but suddenly the price seems to have jumped up to close to 10$. Turns out she has started with the wrap, added extra to it, and never mentioned it hoping to peddle the junk for a premium. Only after being discovered did she admit to charging extra. Some of my colleagues were hungry so they bore the humiliation of being ripped off, and i can assure everyone the food is very solidly taco bell standard. But hey, as a bonus you can get ripped off if you don't watch carefully. Don't waste your time here like my poor friends did, just walk downstairs to yeti or bol or any of the million other places nearby. read more

This restaurant is in the parking structure at Vail. It's so convenient to eat, the food tastes good, the portions are huge, it's cheap, it's a casual spot, and it has an unlimited salsa bar! What more could I ask for! Finding anything decently priced at Vail is already difficult enough but this place has everything I need. We always come to ski at Vail with a big group so we have tried almost everything on the menu. My favorites are the nachos, the crunchy beef tacos, and burritos. This place is not a fancy sit in restaurant so if you're visiting Vail and trying to explore the town, I would probably skip out on this place. But if you are like me and coming to enjoy a day on the slopes and don't want to spend too much time and money for a quick bite, this place would be perfect for you. I got a bean burrito over here and was in a bit of a rush because I needed to get on a bus. I did not mind waiting for my burrito but the lady behind the counter was not friendly and told me to move while I was waiting for my food. When she first told me to move I did not understand and she was like don't stand where the line forms. I was reading the menu and debating on getting some more food for my wife. The place was completely empty and no one was behind me or ahead of me. Any way I waited about 19 minutes for my burrito. Again not a big deal and I should have probably asked how long it was going to take. The burrito was nothing special. It was good but nothing unique or memorable about it. The burrito also did not have cheese on or in it but it did have guacamole. The burrito was a good size and I let my wife have a couple bites. It was a bit expensive for a burrito but everything in Vail is expensive. I would come back here if was not in a rush and really wanted some Mexican food. read more

So amazing. First time in I ate 3 tacos and a chile relleno because it was just too good to stop. Made sure to come back again before leaving town, and had a beef taco, a chicken taco, and a shrimp quesadilla. All of it was incredible. Fresh ingredients, greasy tacos, strong margarita. Worst experience I've ever had with a waitress/cashier. This woman should not be working in a customer facing job. She was rude when I walked up, and placed my order. Three cheers for being seriously affordable in Vail! I had the Carnita and Mahi Mahi Tacos. The CARNITA is delicious! WOW. Five stars. Get that one for sure. The Mahi Mahi was also good but not as great as the pork. Gotta give it up to the pig. Tacos come with guac, lettuce, and pico which is great. All of their tacos can be made gluten free. Hubs had the relleno and enchilada combo which he enjoyed- but methinks he was rather jealous of my carnita. Chips and salsa are free and there is a salsa bar for your endless trips. The medium salsa in the biggest container is not good. It has oregano in it so resembles a pasta sauce in taste. The Tomatillo is very good and the Arbol chile salsa is also good but pretty darn hot. It's tough to find and it is in a bus station but hey, maybe that's why the rent is cheap and they don't have to charge an arm and a leg for tacos. The house marg is only ok- they use silver tequila. Sundays they can be found at the Farmers Market with their pork on a rotisserie looking mighty tasty...perhaps that is why it is so good! read more
